4257	Residential Fire in Mattawa Claims Two Lives The Mattawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), OPP Forensic Investigation Services (FIS), the North Bay Crime Unit and the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) have concluded their investigations into a fatal house fire in Mattawa from September 2, 2017. No foul play is suspected. The deceased persons have been identified as Billy KING, age 74, and Roxanne LADOUCEUR, age 47, both of Mattawa. 4262	Retha R. age 86, passed away October 11, 2003. She was born on March 27, 1917 at Enid, OK. She is survived by two sons: David Park of Stroud, OK & Gary Lee Park of Bakersfield, CA; 1 grandson; 3 granddaughters & 3 great-grandsons; 1 brother: Otto Fuller of Green Valley, AZ & 1, sister: Rosinah Miller of Vancouver, WA. Mrs. Park was a member at Howard Memorial Baptist Church & then First southern Baptist Church. She was a nurse serving at Children's Memorial Hospital leaving to become a beautician. Retha was the first female US Marshal of Oklahoma. She very much enjoyed her crafts & her grandchildren. Preceded her in death are her 2 brothers, 5 sisters & her husband, Floyd Lee Park in 1979. 4263	REUBEN GILES Reuben Giles, a retired railroader, died on Thursday, October 22. He was in his 86th year and was born at Union Hall and resided there for some twenty-five years. He then moved to Blakeney where he lived until his wife; the former Bertha McArthur died some twenty-two months ago. He then moved to Almonte to live with his daughter and son-in-law. While in Blakeney he made many friends where he was known as a good neighbour. He suffered failing eyesight for some twenty years, which became an increasing handicap. Mr. Giles was one of a family of four, one of whom survives, namely Robert Giles of Almonte. There are also four half-sisters, Mrs. Eva Rankin, Ottawa; Mrs. Ada Traill, Smiths Falls; Mrs. Margaret Corrigan, Spruce Lake, Sask., and Mrs. Minnie Elliott, Sonningdale, Sask. Two half-brothers are deceased. Though Mr. Giles had been in failing health for some time the end came suddenly, and unexpectedly. The funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home, Almonte, on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. to the Auld Kirk. Cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs. 4264	Reverend Dr. Harry Kuntz 1934 -2021 Harry Kuntz of Pointe Claire passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021, in his 86th year. Loving husband of Joanne; father of Tom (Linda), Brad (Joanne), Craig (Janet) and Alicia (Jason); beloved son of the late Delilah and Harry Kuntz; dear brother of Bill (Carol), Marjorie (Donald), David (Sandra), and predeceased by his brother Charles (Margaret). Harry was an uncle to many nieces and nephews and grandpa to Julie, Rebecca, Steven, Samuel, Benjamin, Matthew, and Alexandre and great grandpa to Tyler and Riley. Harry grew up in Baden Ontario, where his parents owned a general store. After getting married, he moved to Montreal to attend Presbyterian College. He was a life-long learner and loved to read. Books were a staple in the household and the walls of his study were adorned with "wall paper" from numerous institutions including a Bachelor of Arts from Waterloo College of Western University; a Bachelor of Divinity from Presbyterian College in Montreal; a Sanctae Theologiae Magistrum and a Diploma in Education from McGill University; as well as a Diploma in Institutional Administration, a Master of Arts in Education Studies and a Doctorate in Humanities from Concordia University - the latter being a retirement project he completed in his seventies. Harry was ordained in Livingston Presbyterian Church in Baden and then inducted as Minister at Greenbriar Presbyterian Church in Brantford Ontario. He was subsequently inducted as the Minister at St. Columba-by-the-Lake in Pointe Claire. He remained active in the Presbyterian Church throughout his life but resigned from the pastorate to share his passion for education. He taught high school before joining the Ministère de l'éducation du Québec where he served as the Secretary of the Protestant Committee of the Superior Council of Education until his retirement. Harry was a devoted husband and father and loved to be with his family and grandchildren. Wherever you went to visit, be it the house, the cottage, or the chalet, everyone was welcome, and Harry was sure to have fabulous meals at the ready. He became known to many for his enthusiastic wake up calls at the chalet as well as his breadth and wealth of knowledge. He loved to attend concerts, enjoyed museums exhibits and researching family history. He will be dearly missed. A service will be held on Tuesday April 13th at 3:00 PM for the immediate family. 4265	REVEREND EARL J. BANNING went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 7, 2010. He was 80 years old.Born in California but reared on a cattle ranch in South Texas, he entered military service after high school, serving during the Korean War as a combat medic. After the war, he attended Southwestern Assemblies of God college where he married Joyce Fisher and became an ordained minister. Pastor Banning later earned bachelors and masters degrees in psychology, sociology, and counseling psychology in California. He and Joyce served faithfully in several churches before coming to Braeswood Assembly of God in 1970. The small church grew under Pastor Banning's leadership and became one of Houston's most prominent international congregations. He was the senior pastor at Braeswood Church for 30 years, and the Co-Pastor for 9 years and pastor emeritus for the past year. In addition, Pastor Banning served as General Presbyter of the Assemblies of God and Assistant Superintendent and Executive Presbyter for the South Texas District of the Assemblies of God. He was well known for his radio program, Life Worth Living, and he provided a late night devotional on KPRC-TV for many years. He was a visiting lecturer on Christian psychology and church growth in more than 25 countries, including Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa.Earl Banning now waits in heaven along with his wife Joyce for son Steve and his wife Donna, daughter Susan and her husband David, and daughter Lori and her husband John. Earl is also survived by two sisters, Martha and Ruby; his grandchildren James, Tiffany, John, Jessica and Donovan; and great grandchildren Kaleb, Angelina and Luke. In his more than 50 years of ministry, pastor and counseling psychologist Earl Banning preached thousands of sermons and touched many more lives. His flock will always remember him for his strength of conviction, his well-worn Bible, his sense of humor, the stories of life in South Texas and those powerful invitations delivered on behalf of the Savior. The last of 10 children, his mother called him a "tithe for the Lord." And so he was. On his pulpit for many years was a small sign viewable only to him and those facing the congregation. It read: "Sir, we would see Jesus." Through Earl Banning's life and example, that is what we saw. Welcome home, good and faithful servant. 4266	Reverend Hazlewood was the first person to convert the Old Testament from the Hebrew into the Fijian Language. He served as a missionary in Fiji and is very famous within the Wesleyan Church. Many students in the UK study his work. Fiji did not treat his family well, three of the four children he had with second wife Sarah died as infants. It seems a shame that the Reverend died so young, at only 35, as he achieved so much in such a short time. His original translation which was later revised before publishing is now being reprinted by Andrew Thornley, a Fijian Methodism historian from Sydney. There is a diary in existence, see details below, the transcript is held by the State Library of NSW. Diary of Reverend David Hazlewood (transcription of 1841-1850 journal made in 1994 lby Daphne Penalver): Reverend David Hazlewood [1820-1855] arrived in Sydney from England in 1842. In 1844 he left as a missionary to Fiji, arriving there after a four month stay in Tonga. He stayed in Fiji until 1853 when he returned to New South Wales in failing health and died at Maitland in 1855. 4267	Rex Hazlewood?s father, David, was a keen amateur photographer and fostered the same passion in his son. Rex spent two years in country New South Wales as student pastor and took numerous photographs of the areas around Yeoval, Manildra and Molong, where he was based. He also began taking photographs of churches of his own and other denominations in the suburbs of Concord and Epping. His ministry ended in late 1911 when he began working as a professional photographer. On his return to Sydney in 1911, he took many photographs of the areas around his family home in Epping ? including several series of the new developments in the north western suburbs, government works and the newly-built Central Markets (now Paddy?s Markets) in the city. His photographs recall the farming days of Sydney?s outer suburbs, including fruit-growing in Epping and timber-hauling in Carlingford. Some time between 1911 and 1916, Rex Hazlewood began to identify himself as a professional photographer and he appears to have gained several contracts to record the progress of large government building projects. He was the first to record the construction of the Commonwealth Government?s first wireless station at Pennant Hills, then the State Brick Works and Timber-Yard, and later many other industrial sites in the Strathfield-Ryde district. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in 1916 and left for England in 1917. During WWI Rex served in the first AIF. He served at the Western Front, and at the end of 1918 he was appointed an official war photographer until his return to Australia in 1919. After the War, he recommenced his professional career, setting up a studio at Epping. His subsequent work included over 2,000 colour photos taken on an extended trip to Europe and Britain. When he died in March 1968, his photographic collection passed to his family, who donated over 1,000 of these, mainly glass-plate, negatives to the Mitchell Library. In 1995 his son Laurance published a monograph on Hazelwood, inspired by the many researchers, especially local historians, using his photographs. 4268	REYNOLDS, Ronald L., age 77 of Beavercreek, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Ethel (Burgoon) Reynolds and aunt and uncles Harold Wenton Burgoon and Edna Burgoon (Paul) Whitenack. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Sandra Reynolds, son Eric Reynolds, daughter Melissa Reynolds, grandchildren Christina Wyatt, Amanda (Smokey) King, Leighann (Charles) Foster and Jim Reynolds, and 6 great-grandchildren. Ronald graduated from Stivers High School in 1956 and went on to graduate from the University of Dayton with a degree in music. He was an insurance agent and started working with his uncle at P.E. Whitenack and later owned the agency. He was part owner of Miami Valley Insurance Associates. He started as a musician in dance bands at the age of 12 and was a member of various bands over 60 years. He was a member of the Xenia Hospitality Barbershop Chorus and a member of Four Speed Barbershop Quartet. Ron was also a choir director at several churches over the years. 4274	RICE, CATHERINE April 6, 1945 - April 13, 2021 On the morning of Tuesday, April 13, 2021, Cathy peacefully slipped away after a brief illness. She is survived by her sister Joan of Ladysmith, BC and her brother Robbie of Madoc, Ontario. She was predeceased by her siblings Raymond, Gary, Wendy, and Marty, and her parents Hazel and Graham. Cathy grew up in Chesterville and Winchester in Eastern Ontario, and lived most of her adult life in Toronto and Scarborough. From an early age, Cathy was her own woman: strong enough to not feel like she had to "play by the rules". Even in small-town Ontario in the 1960s and 70s, she entirely rejected the conventional woman's role. She was single, she worked, she loved to play sports, she was competitive and felt no compulsion whatsoever to "be nice". A role model without realizing it, she had a beautiful smile and a totally infectious laugh - when she laughed you did too, even if you had no idea what you were laughing about. She was an excellent bookkeeper and inveterate organizer, and was involved with women's groups and in her tenants' community: participating in fundraisers; organizing socials, meals, games; assisting others; whatever was needed. She will be sorely missed. At Cathy's request there will be no memorial service. Her remains will be interred with those of her sister Wendy in Winchester, Ontario. 4275	RICE-Mildred Dean Rice, passed away on Sunday, May 28. She was born in Winnipeg, Canada in 1912, and moved with her parents to Los Angeles when she was eight. She was converted to Christianity at age 13 through the ministry of Sister Aimee Semple MacPherson at the Angeles Temple. Two years later she began attending the Church of the Open Door, on Hope Street in downtown Los Angeles, where she remained a member for the rest of her life. She graduated from Belmont High School in 1930 and soon after became secretary to Mrs. Charles Cowman, President of The Oriental Missionary Society and author of the bestselling devotional book, 'Streams in the Desert'. Mildred married Rolland Rice, in 1934, after graduating from Asbury College in Kentucky, and the couple went to China in 1936 to be missionaries with the Oriental Missionary Society. Mildred learned Chinese, and her first child, Kathleen, was born in Peking in 1938. In 1941, after the Japanese invaded China, the Rices returned to America. Her husband pastored a Methodist church in Indiana, and Mildred's second child, Dickie Dean, was born and died at age 1. The Rice's third child, Edward, was born in 1944. The Rices returned to Peking after the war in 1946 and fled the Communist invasion in 1949, moving first to Canton, then Japan. Mildred's fourth child, David, was born in 1952 in Tokyo, and the Rices returned to Los Angeles. In 1954 they were sent to Taichung, Taiwan where they ministered until 1970. They returned to the Los Angeles area where Rolland passed away in 1973 and Mildred lived the rest of her life. Mildred returned to Taiwan in 1975 and 1984 to teach for a year each time. She also traveled around the world speaking at churches about her missionary experiences, and led tours to China in 1979, 1981, and 1987. She is survived by three children and six grandchildren. The memorial service will be held this Saturday, June 3, at 10:00 at the Church of the Open Door in Glendora. 4276	Richard "Dick" Everett, 75, of Ledge Rd., Seekonk, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family Sunday evening, May 3, 2015. He was the husband of Gail (George) Everett. Born Feb. 24, 1940, in Providence, he was a son of the late Harry G. and Audrey Frances (Erhardt) Everett. Dick served with the US Air Force as an aircraft mechanic from 1959 until 1962. He was an avid gardener and loved wood working. Dick was happiest when he was in his backyard garden surround by family and riding his tractor with one of his grandchildren on his lap. In addition to his wife of 54 years, he leaves his 3 children and their spouses, Brian and Deborah Everett of Seekonk, Lisa and William Sheehan of Attleboro and Tracey and Jason Smith of Mansfield; his 8 grandchildren, Kelly, Katie and Holly Everett, Nicholas, Ryan and Evan Sheehan, and Emily and Owen Smith; his sister, Edith Dewey of No. Attleboro; and his brother, Harold Everett of Florida. His funeral will begin Thursday at 8:45am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Taunton Ave., Seekonk. Military honors and burial will follow at Mt. St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5pm until 8pm. 4277	Richard 'Dick' G. Swift, age 84, of Cameron, NY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Cameron, NY, January 13, 1936, the son of Jerald K. and Dorothy (Goodwin) Swift. Dick was an avid hunter, traveling all over the United States, as well as Mexico and various territories in Canada, to obtain his wild game. He enjoyed planting trees and cutting firewood. Dick was an all around outdoorsman. He was retired from Mercury Aircraft after 52 years of service and he was a US Navy Veteran. He was a life member of the NRA and The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He was also a member of the Bath V.F.W. Post 1470, the Springwater American Legion and the Sheep Foundation. Dick is survived by his children; Richard Swift of Cameron, NY, Karen Havens of Bath, NY and Uleta Swift of Ashland, MA, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and his brother Allen (Gail) Swift of Bath, NY. He was predeceased by his parents; sons, S.D. and Floyd Charles Swift, brother Jerald Swift and sister Jeanette. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. 4278	Richard (Dick) F. Ward 1929 - 2019 Beloved Father and Grandfather HOLLAND PATENT - Richard F. Ward, 89, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at the Siegenthaler Center, with his family by his side. Dick was born on December 17, 1929, in Hartford, CT, the son of William and Veronica (Qunell) Ward. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S Air Force. He shared a blessed union with Jennie Dashnaw until her passing in 2000. Dick was employed with Allied Van Lines prior to retiring. Surviving are his children, Ricky (Janis) Ward, Linda (Phil) Buttacaroli, Kathy Summers, John (Helen) Wisheart and Carl (Linda) Wisheart; grandchildren, Tarin (Trevor) Beebe, Phil (Shannon) Buttacaroli, Paul Buttacaroli, Pete (Sunni) Buttacaroli, Jeff Wisheart, Joshua Wisheart, Jeremy Wisheart, Missy Matthews, Connie Wisheart, Paul Mech and Joseph Mech; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. 4279	Richard A. Doolittle, of Wiese Albert Road, Higganum, died Saturday. He was 57. He was born in Middletown and had lived in Ballwin, Mo., for the last 21 years. He retired to Connecticut last summer. He had been employed as vice president of human resources for Busch Entertainment in St. Louis for 18 years before his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969 at the Pentagon in the Office of the Congressional Liaison. He was a member of the Paperweight Collectors of America. 4280	Richard Allan Hill, 64, Olney, died Sunday, April 15, 1990 at 6:45 a.m. at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Zirkle Funeral Home. Memorial services will be announced later by the funeral home. Mr. Hill was born November 22, 1925 in Whittier, Calif., the son of Allan Asbury and Alma Gertrude (Moore) Hill. He married Barbara Ann Landenberger January 14, 1984 in Las Vegas, Nev. She survives in Olney. 4281	Richard Banning, 81, died on Saturday, April 27, 2002, in San Marcos, Texas. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in Britt. Richard Banning, was born on February 12, 1921 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the eldest of three sons of Robert and Flora Banning. He graduated from high school in 1938 and attended the Britt Junior College at Britt. He was part of the six-man football team which won the State of Iowa Junior College Championship in 1939. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1940 and his career spanned 30 years. He graduated from the Aviation Cadet Flying School in 1942 as a 2nd Lt. He flew 50 missions in B-17's. The last nine years he was a Bird Colonel. After WW II and while stationed in the United States, he attended Indiana University and graduated in 1959 with a BS in Business Management. He retired in 1970. Richard and his wife, Doris resided in Gahanna, Ohio, from 1967 to 1993. During that time he worked for the State of Ohio as an auditor in the State Welfare Department. After the death of his wife, he retired to Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; daughters, Mary Ann Wheeler and Edith Anderson; his brother, G. Ed Banning; and second wife, Joanna Glesecke. 4282	Richard Bruce Gensler passed away October 7, 2006. "Dick," son of the late Jerome Kermit and Margaret (Musselman) Gensler, was born March 28, 1932 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He attended Western Michigan University. On August 14, 1954 he married Nancy Newton of Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Dick served in the U.S. Army Security Agency from 1952-1955. He had been employed at Fuller Manufacturing Company in Kalamazoo as Chief Engineer, as Manufacturing Manager at Hydreco, and General Manager of Parker Hannifin's Pneumatic Division retiring after 28 years of service. Surviving are his beloved wife, Nancy, of 52 years, their two children, and three grandsons: Mark Richard Gensler and grandson Matheus Pacheco Gensler of Encinitas, CA; daughter Sharon and husband Joel Kloosterman, grandsons Jason Kloosterman, Travis Kloosterman, all of Oceanside, CA. Also surviving are his dear sister Dorothy Jean and husband Cornelius VanderWeele of Naples, FL, and a sister-in-law Suzanne (Newton) Baltzer of Menlo Park, CA. There are nieces, cousins, and a host of friends who were special to him, especially his lifelong buddies dubbed "The Crooked Lake Gang." Dick was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered most for his sense of humor, passion for sailing, the innovative manufacturing machines he designed, and the artistic cartoons and characters he created. Dick had been a Little League umpire, CAD instructor at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, member of the Gull Lake Country Club and Yacht Club, and a Deacon and 50-year member of the First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo, MI. Upon moving to Florida, he became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Stuart. A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church of Stuart, officiated by Rev. He underwent one of the first open heart operations ever performed in Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1946. 4285	Richard Cobb Mr. Richard Cobb, resident of Theodore, beloved husband of Shay, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2001 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 81 years of age. Richard George Cobb was born on October 7, 1919 near Mattawa, Ontario, the fourth child of George and Pearl (nee Harper) Cobb. At the age of 16 he chose to serve God, which would be a guide and comfort to him all his life. As a young man, he held various farming, logging and factory jobs. He served his country for four years during World War II as a member of the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps. After the war, he took a cabinet making course and worked in that field until he began farming in 1949. In 1947, he and four other young relatives came west, where he met Hazel 'Shay' Price. He returned in September of 1949 to take her home as his bride. For the next 29 years, Richard and Shay lived on their farm in the Powassan, Ontario, area, where their 3 sons were added to the family. In 1978, the couple moved to Theodore to be closer to their boys, who had come west earlier. Their grandchildren and their trips east and west in their camper were highlights of their retirement years. A debilitating stroke in October of 1991 necessitated hospitalization until April of 1993, at which time he was able to return home to the loving care of Shay. He leaves with loving memories, his wife of 51 years, Shay; sons, George and his wife Jan and their sons Jeff, Jolan (Julie), Jayden (Donna) and Justin; John and his wife Anita and children Linnea, Alissa, Jackson and Laura; and David and his wife Mavis and their children Philip, Faron, Regan, Jesse, Emily and Dickon, as well as three great grandchildren, Trae, Brett and Megan. He is also survived by brothers and sisters, Beryl, Margaret, Fred (Grace), Frank (Dorothy), Rose (Mervin) Birt, Esther, Jim (Helen), Philip (Mae) and Lily, and a brother-in-law Gordon Byers, all in eastern Canada. He was predeceased by his eldest sister, Hazel Byers. He is also fondly remembered by Shay's family in BC, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Saturday, January 6, 2001 at the Theodore Recreation Centre in Theodore. Dale Shultz, Jack Price and Mary Roper officiated. Ushers for the service were Lloyd Kneesch, Keith Byers, Dave Hermanson and Ken Kostenuk. Attending the register were Linnea and Alissa Cobb and Tracy Colwill. The pianist, Adrienne Sinclair led the congregation in the singing of the hymns Lord, In My Need I Seek Thy Face and Approved of God. A special music selection, Moments of Blessing, was sung by Daren Young, Jack Kofoed, Leah Lennox, Anne Malcolm and Susan Cobb; and those present sang Sing To Me the Songs of Zion. The interment followed in the Theodore Town Cemetery with grandsons Jeff, Jolan, Philip, Jayden, Faron and Regan Cobb serving as the casketbearers. Jim Atcheson officiated at the committal service. 4286	Richard David Kotecki Sr., 74, of New London, died on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, surrounded by his loving family at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London. Born July 31, 1935, in Norwich, he was the son of the late Charles Kotecki and Sophie (Pureda) Kotecki. He was the husband of Barbara (Hamler) Kotecki, whom he married on Nov. 27, 1954, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in New London. He was employed by City Of New London for 34 years as a truck driver as well as a custodian. Richard proudly defended workers rights throughout his employment with the City of New London serving for over 30 years as president of Local 1378 of the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) which represents public work employees throughout the city. He also served as an officer for the Southeastern Connecticut Labor Council. Richard dedicated his life to public service working on all of the many Charter Revision Commissions for the City of New London throughout the past 25 years. Most recently he assisted as a member of the City of New London Water Commission. Richard's previous associations included membership with the City's Democratic Town Committee as well as a member of the City of New London's Affirmative Action Committee. Richard's hobbies included fishing with his sons and cooking breakfast every Sunday morning for his family. He also enjoyed working in his garden and was always willing to share its generous bounty with friends and family. In addition to his beloved wife of 54 years, he is survived by his loving sons, Richard David Kotecki Jr. of Griswold, Jeffrey Kotecki of Niantic, Greg Kotecki of Ledyard, and David Kotecki of Quaker Hill; a brother, Charles Kotecki of Ledyard; a sister, Delores "Dee" Thorp; six grandchildren, three step grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. 4287	Richard David Shea Sr. age 88, died October 17, 2007. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather and uncle. Born September 6, 1919 in Mason City, Nebraska to David C. and Mabel Armagost Shea. Married Nondus Budge, February 14, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was converted to the LDS Church and baptized January 5, 1957. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple March 23, 1959. Dad was a man of faith, integrity, honor, love and service. He lived in Salt Lake City and Bountiful for most of his life. Dad began his civil service career on August 11, 1941 at Hill AFB. He entered military service June 3, 1942 after graduating from AAF OCS. Served in WWII and in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He spent nearly 37 years in military service with 31 of those in the Utah Air National Guard where he was Chief of Supply & Services. Dad was very proud of his military service and retired June 30, 1978 with the rank of Lt Colonel. He served as both an employee and a service missionary for LDS Welfare Services where he was instrumental in creating the Spearhead Disaster Relief Units at Bishop Storehouses nationwide. Served in numerous positions in the Church from his baptism to his passing, including 3 times as a Bishop, a Counselor in the Salt Lake Stake Presidency and High Councilman. He loved to serve the Lord and found great joy in that service. Survived by: daughter Patricia S. Casillas and husband Jorge, Salt Lake City. 4288	RICHARD EVANS (1949) - Numerous relatives, friends and citizens gathered, on Thursday, November 24th to pay final tribute to Richard Evans, a life-long resident of the Pakenham district, who died at his home on Tuesday after a short, illness. Mr. Evans was born at Cedar Hill, the only son of the late George Evans and his wife, Mary Tomblinson. He resided on the homestead until 30 years ago when he moved to his farm, two miles from Pakenham village. He was in his 67th year, The funeral which took place from his late home to St. Mark's Anglican Church was conducted by Rev. Canon Carryer. Pallbearers were Messrs. G. Moreton, Horace Cavanagh, Mae Dodge, Ernie Millar, Clarence Raycroft and Lloyd Dickson. A host of beautiful floral tributes testified to the high esteem in which he was held by fellow citizens. He was born in Middletown on November 5, 1930 the son of the late Frank and Jennie (Gustoski) Budney. He leaves behind his wife of 60 years Dolores (Banning) Budney, his daughter Diane Belval and her husband Stephen, and granddaughter Megan Giamei. He was predeceased by his son Paul R. Budney on March 14, 2017. He also leaves behind his brother, Walter R. Budney of Ivoryton and his sister, Lorraine B. Flanagan of Melbourne Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews. Dick was a graduate of Pratt High School in Essex and served with the United States Army during the Occupation in Japan. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the US Army, a National Guard Technician, and a Deputy Sheriff of the Middlesex Court. He was a Past Commander and Life Member of the Essex Veterans of Foreign Wars, a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus in Old Saybrook, the Polish Falcons of America, and the Interstate Police Officers Assoc. He was also a Past President and member of the Essex Lions Club, member of Essex Veterans Memorial Hall and a communicant of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Essex. Richard was born and raised in Long Branch and graduated from Long Branch High School in 1958. He was a paid fireman for Oliver Byron Fire Company and served his country honorably from 1962-1968. He was co-owner of B&W Trucking Company and Tinton Falls Contracting before retiring. He was previously a board member and past President for Shore Regional High School Board of Education, and a board member for the Ronald McDonald house. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play all their sports growing up. In addition, he enjoyed watching Yankee Baseball and Villanova Basketball surrounded by his numerous pets which he had throughout his life. 4291	Richard Lee Benkowski, 59, died July 5, 2020. Rick was born on September 28, 1960 to Herbert and Orma (Lee) Benkowski. He graduated Lakeview High School in 1978, where he was inspired by his teacher Peter Hardisty. He worked at Bill's Business Machines, before attending Confederation College where he studied to be an Electronics Computer Control Technician. He made a life-long friend of his teacher Bill Faconia. Rick was employed at Thunder Bay Hydro and Digital Engineering, where he enjoyed the work and the great team environment. He then spent 27 years at Bombardier working in Thunder Bay, Florida, Colorado, and Boston, retiring in 2019. While in Boston, he met Shari Koehne, whom he married in 1989. They had two children, Ke?ala and Kyle, whom he valued and loved above everything. Shari and Rick separated in 1993. He met Marsha Reinikka in 1995 and spent the next 25 years with her, through many ups and downs and with varying proximity. Through that relationship, he acquired three more children: Cy, Jessica, and Madeline. Marsha was Rick's person and they were married May 22, 2020 to honour that bond. Rick loved electronics of all kinds and as a hobby he created software devices for Bombardier to help with the testing procedures that he worked on. He loved camping and enjoyed many years at his beloved camp at Chippewa and later at Marsha's camp at Clover Beach. Rick loved the Madhouse and rarely missed his twice weekly visits with the staff and his buddies. He valued their time together. Rick was diagnosed with cancer in September 2017. Marsha, the children, and his friends provided support, food, and care. Excellent nursing and personal support were provided by St. Elizabeth Health Care. He chose Medical Assistance in Death when life was no longer tenable. We want to thank Dr. Chan and Dr. Haggarty, Paul Carrier, and especially Dr. Kevin Bezanson who was our rock during the final stages of Rick's cancer. He kept us well informed, supported us throughout, and was with us until the end. MAiD is not readily accessible in Thunder Bay because we have so few providers who will do the procedure. We want to specifically thank Dr. Turner, who came in on his day off to help end the pain for Rick. Thank you so much. You were an angel to us. Rick was predeceased by his parents Orma in 1974 and Herbert in 1996. 4294	Richard S. Jobson, 84, of West Simsbury, died Wednesday, (September 5, 2007) at Governor's House in Simsbury. Born in Wethersfield, he was the son of the late Archie and Marjorie (Wiley) Jobson. He graduated from Wethersfield High School and attended Vermont Junior College. Richard leaves his wife of 58 years, Alice (Verbonick) Jobson. In addition, he is survived by his son, David Jobson, of Simsbury; his daughter, Margaret Crofton and her husband, Edward, of Simsbury; and his brother, John, of Colorado. "Pops" will also be missed by his granddaughters, Kathryn Crofton, of New Haven, Maggie Crofton, of Simsbury, and his great-grandson, Dade Crofton, of Simsbury. 4295	Richard"Dick" M. Warner, 67, of Harness Dr., Meriden, beloved husband of Suzanne (Dobbin) Warner, lost his battle to cancer on Thursday, (December 13, 2007) at Middlesex Hospital. He was born in Middletown, the son of the late Joseph and Alma (Thompson) Warner. Dick was self-employed providing mechanical inspections throughout Connecticut. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, William Warner of Middletown, Robert Warner and his wife Amanda of East Hampton, Dean Warner and his wife Barbara Jo of Middletown; a daughter, Sherilyn D'Erocle of Meriden; a step-son, Gerald Gillanders, Jr. of Harrah, OK; a step-daughter, Heather D'Antonio and her husband Jay of East Hampton; two sisters, Beverly Carlson of East Hampton, and Sharon Visintainer of East Hampton; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Ramona Warner. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Haddam Neck Covenant Church, 17 Haddam Neck Rd., East Hampton. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery in Middle Haddam. 4296	Richard, age 91, passed away, Tuesday, February 16, 2010. He was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, August 8, 1918, the son of Louis and Gladys Boos. Richard graduated from Marshall High School and General Motors Institute now known as Kettering Institute, Flint, MI. He retired from the Oldsmobile Division of GM as supervisor of manufacturing engineering. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Preceded in death by his parents and his brother Louis, he is survived by his wife, Anna, lovingly sharing 67 years of marriage. He also leaves behind many loving friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 5589 Van Atta, Haslett, MI.
