- BAKER I, ERNEST ROBERT
Ernie was born June 12, 1929 in Oshtemo, Michigan to LaVern and Ettie Mae (McLain) Baker. In 1958, he married Bernice Blades and together they had a family of four children. Ernie lived in Kalamazoo area, served in the U.S. Army and retired after 40 years with the NY Central Railroad, where he worked as a foreman. In 2003, Ernie achieved lifetime status of the Fidelity Masonic Lodge #513 where he was "Past Master." He loved the Lord and his family and he moved to California to be near his youngest son. On September 20, 2012, he passed away at the Jerry Petits Veterans Hospital, in CA. He is survived by one daughter, Linda Wehner, two sons, William Miner II and Ernie Baker II, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, four brothers, two sisters, many nieces and nephews. He was known for his warm smile,gentle spirit and generosity.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 29 at Mt. Everest Memorial Park Chapel, 3941 S. Westnedge, Kalamazoo.
