    Earle Wayne "Peanuts" Smiley was born September 29, 1934, in Pine County, Minnesota.
    He was the ninth child of John Walter and Pearl Virginia (McKee) Smiley.
    He moved to Danbury with his parents as a young child. He grew up and went to school in the Danbury area. He left school after the eighth grade to help at home.
    On August 29, 1977 he married Laura Lynn Young. To this union, two children were born. He lived and worked his entire life in the Danbury area, working construction as a heavy machine operator and later for the Town of Swiss as Road Boss. He retired in 1997.
    Earl crossed over to celebrate his new life on the other side on July 27, 2003 at the Burnett Medical Center in Grantsburg, Wisconsin, having suffered a debilitating illness for several years.
    Everyone knew him as "Peanuts". He liked to visit with people and he enjoyed his family,friends and Children. He would help whenever he was asked and always have a laugh and a joke or story to cheer people up. He was a good man, husband, father and friend. He was an active participant in the "Danbury Diamond Anniversary" Celebration preparations and also with the Danbury Ambulance Benefit "Pig Roasts" and "Beef Roasts". He helped build the Little Miss Danbury Float, and he was recognized as a good citizen in the community.
    Here to Celebrate Earl's memory are his wife, Laura of Danbury; a son, David Wayne Smiley (and Sherri) of Danbury; a daughter, Tracy (and Fiance' Billy Hoover) of Danbury. Also surviving him are three Brothers, John Smiley, of Oregon; Douglas (and Bonita) Smiley and Robert (and Linda) Smiley, all of Danbury; three sisters, Nellie (and Bill ) Rosen of Sedalia, Kentucky; Ruth (and James ) Frizzell of Meadville Pennsylvania and Mary Davis, of Danbury; 32 nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
    Preceding Earl in death were his parents; three brothers, Herbert, during WWII in France, Carl, in 1991 and Willis "Toby", in 1995; and two sisters, Betty, in 2001, and Dorothy in 2002.
    Earl's wishes were to be cremated and that no services be held.

    Carl N. Smiley died at his home in Danbury on Saturday, February 2, 1991, at the age of 52 years. Carl Neil Smiley was born at the Frederic Municipal Hospital on October 5, 1938, to Pearl Virginia (McKee) and John Walter Smiley.
    He was a handicapped person, considered by his family as a child of GOD. Though his life was limited in some ways, it was full with family, friends and neighbors who enjoyed his company.
    He lived in the Danbury area his whole life and was a familiar sight to the people of the community while he was out collecting cans on his daily walks. He also spent his time collecting horses, pictures and during his lifetime kept many different kinds of pets. Though he could not speak to them, they seemed to understand him.
    He attended the Danbury Elementary School and later attended school at the Burnett County Achievement Center in Siren.
    He is survived by five brothers: John Smiley of Lincoln, Oregon; Douglas Smiley of Danbury; Willis Smiley of Cloquet, Minnesota, Earl Smiley of Danbury and Robert Smiley of Danbury; also five sisters: Betty Soens of Hinkley, Minnesota, Dorothy Terzini of Isabella, Minnesota, Nell Livezey of Deltona, Florida, Mary Davis of Danbury and Ruth Frizzell of Meadville, Pennsylvania; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Carl was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Herbert Smiley, three nieces: Julie Smiley, Bobbi Jo Smiley and Melissa Ann Davis.
    Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 6, 1991, at 11 a.m. at the Danbury Methodist Church, with the Pastor Fay Johnson officiating. Musicians were Joanne Zillmer and Julie Macke.
    Casket Bearers were Bob Phelps, Tom Mahlen, Howard Hills, Marty Clendening, Brian Jorgensen and Marshall Hill. Interment was at the Danbury Cemetery beside his parents. The Swedberg Funeral Home of Webster was in charge of the arrangements.

    Mary E. Davis, age 74, of Danbury, WI, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014, at Burnett Medical Center. She was born in Grantsburg, WI, on August 7, 1940, a daughter of the late John W. M. and Pearl V. (McKee) Smiley. On November 5, 1958, Mary was united in marriage to Gerald L. Davis in Pine County, MN. He passed away on June 10, 1998.
    A selfless person, Mary appreciated the opportunity to help others, and was a personal care giver for many years to people in the area. Before her retirement, she also worked at the St. Croix Lodge in Danbury.
    Mary is survived by two sons: Gerald (Kellie) Davis and Robert (Joy) Davis; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, John (Gladys) Smiley.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gerald; sisters: Betty Ann Pelton Soens, Dorothy Mae Terzini, Nell Rozen, and Ruth Frizzell; brothers: Herbert, Douglas, Willis ?Toby?, Earl, Carl, and Robert Smiley; a sibling in infancy, Bobbi Jo; a granddaughter; and many in-laws and other relatives.
    In keeping with Mary?s wishes, there will be no formal services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Webster, WI.

    Gerald ?Jerry? William Davis, 59, of Danbury, WI passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 29, 2018, one day after celebrating his 59th birthday.
    Jerry was born on January 28, 1959 in Minnesota to parents, Gerald L. and Mary E. (Smiley) Davis. He was a 1977 graduate of Webster High School. Jerry was a Slot Manager for the Danbury Casino for 21 years, until his retirement a few years ago. He married Kellie A. Allen on September 11, 2005 in Webster, WI. Jerry fondly nicknamed Kellie? ?Bundy?.
    Jerry liked fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed driving around and taking in the scenery. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his daughters.
    Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Kellie ?Bundy? Davis; daughters, Angie (Dave) Jarvis, Casey (Erik) Imme, and Bobbi Davis; grandchildren, Jaxon, Kal and Kylie; brother, Robert (Joy) Davis. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Melissa Davis.
    A memorial visitation celebrating the life of Jerry Davis will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Swiss Town Hall, 7551 Main St. E, Danbury, WI.
    Arrangements have been entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster, WI.
