  • Notes
    • Cavaliere Alba de Mari Hodson, a Milanese who settled near Washington, DC, after 12 years in the Middle and Far East in company of her husband of the US Foreign Service, died at her son's home in Charlottesville, VA, on 16 October 2010.
Abroad and in the US she supported and initiated activities with Italian interests. She was recognized for this work by the Italian government when she was decorated with the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity at the Italian Embassy in Washington.
In Damascus, Syria, she founded the Circolo Italiano. She was a prominent member of the Dante Alighieri Society of Beirut, Lebanon. She was a fundraiser and decorated patron of the Scalabrini-Dom Bosco Orphanage in Saigon, Viet Nam. And in Virginia, she taught Italian privately and for Fairfax County Public Schools Adult Education for 15 years.
As member of the Italian Cultural Society of Washington since 1963, she served as President, Programs Vice President, and member of the Board, arranging lectures, showings, musical recitals, and discussion of Italian art and literary figures. She was an ubiquitous presence with her many friends at local festivals such as the International Festival at the Washington National Cathedral, and Arlington Ethnic Festival in Virginia.
She is predeceased by her husband, Jeremy Hodson, and survived by her children William Hodson and Andrea Hodson. Services will be held at a later date.
