    • Lurvene Julia King, the daughter of Russ and Hattle Gamble Darr, was born on Sept 28, 1920 In Everly, Iowa. She received her elementary education at Marathon and Garfield and she graduated from Ayrshire high school in 1938. Lurvene married Darrell King on March 9, 1942 in St Joseph, Mo. Mrs. King was a member of the the Giltett Grove Methodist church and this past summer had received her life time membership in United Methodist Women. Mrs. King passed on from this life on Dec 16, 1978. Funeral services were held at the Warner Chapel In Spencer on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 1.30 p.m Rev Robert Cumings officiated and burial was in the Dickens cemetery. Mrs William Wendlandt was the organist and she accompanied the soloist, Kathy Hanson Kathy sang the selections, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset" The pall bearers were Larry King, Brian Bailey, Denny King, Denny Darr, Darrell Darr, and Vernon Olson. Mrs. King was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Clayton. Survivors include her husband, Darrell of rural Dickens; two sons, Wayne of Studio City, Calif, and Wendell of Spencer, one granddaughter. Kelly of Spencer; one brother, Clelland Darr of Dodge Center, Minn, one sister, Cleo, Mrs. Harold Olson of Ayrshire; her mother, Mrs Hattie Darr of Storm Lake and many other relatives and friends.
