Entered into rest at the Almonte Hospital on Friday, January 19th, 1973, in his 84th year, Robert D. Munro, husband of the late Margaret Yuill, who predeceased him September 11th, 1961. Born in Lanark Township, August 20th, 1889, he was the last member of an old and well known family, son of the late Daniel Munro and his wife Betsy Rintoul. On June 12th, 1912, he and his wife were married at Hall's Mills and settled on the homestead where he was born and brought up, where they lived for over forty years. Sixteen years ago he moved to Clayton Village, where he spent the remainder of his lifetime. Deceased was a member of Clayton United Church. Surviving to morn the loss of a dear father and grandfather are, one son, Arthur of Clayton, and two daughters, Addle (Mrs. Matt Somerville), Middleville and Margaret (Mrs. George S. Affleck), Clayton. There are also five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Deceased members of his family are five brothers, Hugh, John, William, David and Charles and two sisters, Kate (Mrs. James Stewart) and Maggie (Mrs. Arch. McNeil). The funeral was held on Monday, January 22nd, at 2 o'clock from the Kerry Funeral Home, Almonte. Service was conducted by Rev. Gordon C. Smyth of the Central Lanark Parish. Pallbearers were four nephews and two grandsons; George Stewart, Leonard Munro, Ronald Yuill, Donald Munro, Frank Somerville and Wayne Affleck. Many beautiful floral tributes and "In Memoriam" cards were received. Interment Clayton United Cemetery vault, with burial in the spring.

MRS. ROBERT D. MUNRO
One of the most beloved and respected citizens of the Clayton community passed away very suddenly in the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital, Monday, Sept. 11th in the person of Mrs. Robert D. Munro in her 74th year. Born in Lanark Township, Feb. 122nd, 1888 she was (Margaret Yuill) the daughter of the late Wm. Yuill and his wife Robena Somerville. In 1912 she married Robert D. Munro and settled on a farm in Lanark Township near Clayton where they lived for over 40 years. Four years ago they moved to Clayton Village where she spent her remaining years. Mrs. Munro was of a cheerful and loving disposition, a real true friend and neighbour. Her chief interests during her life were her home, her family and flowers. Left to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother are her husband; one son and two daughters: Arthur of Clayton; Addie (Mrs. Matt E. Somerville) Middleville and Margaret (Mrs. George Affleck) Almonte. There a five grandchildren. Surviving in her family are one sister and 4 brothers: Jean (Mrs. Chas. Munro); Robert and Wm. Yuill, Clayton; Arthur and James Yuill, Almonte. Deceased members are Agnes (Mrs. Arch. Robertson); Ruby (Mrs. Lloyd Pretty) and Alex Yuill. The funeral service which was largely attended by relatives and friends was held Thursday, Sept. 14th from the Kerry Funeral Home, Almonte. Rev. Jas. Payton officiated. Interment was in Clayton United Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ernie Moulton, Wilf Halpenny, Alex Rintoul, Wm. Bolger, Wm. Bellamy and Earl Robertson. Many floral tributes testified to, the love and esteem felt for the deceased.

There passed peacefully away on Thursday evening, March 21st, at the home of her son, Robert D. Munroe, a well know and respected resident in the person of Mrs. Daniel Munroe, who had been ill for several months. The late Mrs. Munroe whose maiden name was Elizabeth Rintoul, was born 86 years ago in the Township of Darling, a daughter of the late John Rintoul and Margaret McGee. About 61 years ago she became the wife of Daniel Munroe of Lanark Township and resided near Clayton until 23 years ago when they moved to the village of Clayton. A quiet reserved woman she possessed the sterling qualities that made her a good wife and a good mother, and won for her the love of many friends and the respect of all who knew her. The union was blessed by eight children, namely, Margaret, Mrs. Archie McNeil, Naseby, Sask.; Kate, Mrs. James Stewart of the 6th line of Ramsay, (deceased); John of Drummond; Hugh of Middleville; David of Clayton; William of Almonte; Robert of Lanark Township and Charles of Darling Township. She leaves 28 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters; Mrs. Euphemia Munroe of Ramsay; Mrs. Janet McIntyre of Langham, Sask.; and Mrs. Margaret Miller of Sinclair, Man. Her husband predeceased her in 1921. The funeral was held on Saturday, March 23rd, from the home of her son, Robert D. Munro, to Guthrie United Church, Clayton, of which she as a devoted member until ill health prevented her attending, thence to the United Cemetery. The service was conducted by Rev. G. D. Empey. The pallbearers were six grandsons of deceased, namely, Mac and Willie Stewart, Dan, Keith, Eric and Arthur Munroe. A beautiful wreath was on the casket from the family and a spray from the Stewart family. The sympathy of the community is extended the bereaved family.
