    Mrs Thomas James
    Following an illness of two months, Mrs Thomas James of Almonte, passed away last Monday night at the age of 76 years. Previous to her marriage deceased was Jane Rainy Deachman. She was born near Lanark Village, a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs John Deachman. While quite young she came to Almonte and learned her trade as tailoress with the late Thomas O?Grady and was employed by him for some years. Upwards of 52 years ago she married the late Thomas James who predeceased her 12 years ago. Mrs James leaves four sons and one daughter, namely Stanley of Carleton Place; Percy of Finch; Winnard B., and Oswald O. of Almonte; Mrs W.H. Cowan (Jennie) of Regina; also a stepson and stepdaughter, Edward of Almonte and Mrs James Brennen (Annie) of Vancouver. Two sons and two daughters predeceased the late Mrs James Maynard, Clifford and Mrs W.E. Scott (Effie) of Almonte and Mrs John Eck (Ruby) of Toronto. John Deachman of Lanark Village, is a brother, Isaac Deachman of Almonte, a half-brother and Mrs John Kerr of Crytal City, Man, is a half sister of deceased. The late Mrs James was one of the estimable ladies of Almonte. She was a member of Bethany Church and took an interest in the women?s organizations connected with it. During her last illness Mrs James sustained a sad blow in the death of her daughter, Mrs Eck of Toronto, Mrs Eck with her husband, was motoring to Almonte to see her mother about a month ago when the car left the road a few miles this side of Kingston, killing her instantly and seriously injuring Mr Eck. The funeral was held this Thursday afternoon at 2.30 o?clock from the late home of deceased, Reserve Street, to the Auld Kirk Cemetery, Rev C.D. McLellan of Bethany Church, conducting the services at the house and vault. The pallbearers were Stanley, Percy, Winnard, Oswald, Walter A. and Lorne James, all of Almonte. her stepson Edward was unable to act as a pallbearer as he was confined to his home through illness.
