    PALMER, G. Elwood - Passed away peacefully at Lombard Manor surrounded by the love of his family, on Monday, January 7, 2019 at the remarkable age of 99. He was the beloved husband and best friend for more than 67 years of the late Margaret Palmer (nee Munro). Loving and devoted father of Marilyn St. Louis (Peter) and Lois Birtch. Cherished grandfather of Evan Birtch (Rebecca), Scott St.Louis (Chantal) and Kerri Williams (Rob). He was a proud great-grandfather of Addy, Kinsley, and Cohen Birtch, Connor and Cadence Williams and Owen St. Louis. He will be fondly remembered by his loving brother Gray Palmer. He will be sadly missed by his nephews, nieces and extended family and many friends. Father was a proud veteran of the Second World War. He spent five years serving our country through the Canadian Forces. His working career spanned many years as a conductor with CP Rail, and in retirement years he was always learning new things, challenging himself, and always ensuring his family was taken care of. Elwood's family would like to thank the amazing staff at Lombard Manor for their incredible care of our father for many years. All of you truly treated him like family. Friends may pay their respects at the BLAIR & SON FUNERAL HOME, SMITHS FALLS on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A service to celebrate his amazing life will take place in the Chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Smiths Falls Hospital Foundation or Trinity United Church, Smiths Falls.

    PALMER, Margaret K. Peacefully at Broadview Nursing Centre, Smiths Falls on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 Margaret Kathleen (Munroe) Palmer in her 92nd year. Beloved wife for 67 years of Elwood Palmer. Loved mother of Marilyn (Peter) St. Louis of Ottawa and Lois Birtch of Kingston. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Evan (Rebecca) Birtch of Cambridge, Scott St. Louis (Alonna) of Ottawa and Kerri Birtch of Toronto. Predeceased by her brothers Leonard and Dan Munroe and sister Ada Abercrombie. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, family and many good friends. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 112 Beckwith St. N., Smiths Falls on Thursday, July 16, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Hillcrest Cemetery. In remembrance, contributions to the Trinity United Church Memorial Fund or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated. The Order of the Eastern Star will hold a service of remembrance on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m.

    There passed peacefully away on Thursday evening, March 21st, at the home of her son, Robert D. Munroe, a well know and respected resident in the person of Mrs. Daniel Munroe, who had been ill for several months. The late Mrs. Munroe whose maiden name was Elizabeth Rintoul, was born 86 years ago in the Township of Darling, a daughter of the late John Rintoul and Margaret McGee. About 61 years ago she became the wife of Daniel Munroe of Lanark Township and resided near Clayton until 23 years ago when they moved to the village of Clayton. A quiet reserved woman she possessed the sterling qualities that made her a good wife and a good mother, and won for her the love of many friends and the respect of all who knew her. The union was blessed by eight children, namely, Margaret, Mrs. Archie McNeil, Naseby, Sask.; Kate, Mrs. James Stewart of the 6th line of Ramsay, (deceased); John of Drummond; Hugh of Middleville; David of Clayton; William of Almonte; Robert of Lanark Township and Charles of Darling Township. She leaves 28 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters; Mrs. Euphemia Munroe of Ramsay; Mrs. Janet McIntyre of Langham, Sask.; and Mrs. Margaret Miller of Sinclair, Man. Her husband predeceased her in 1921. The funeral was held on Saturday, March 23rd, from the home of her son, Robert D. Munro, to Guthrie United Church, Clayton, of which she as a devoted member until ill health prevented her attending, thence to the United Cemetery. The service was conducted by Rev. G. D. Empey. The pallbearers were six grandsons of deceased, namely, Mac and Willie Stewart, Dan, Keith, Eric and Arthur Munroe. A beautiful wreath was on the casket from the family and a spray from the Stewart family. The sympathy of the community is extended the bereaved family.
