    Patricia Jackson Patricia A. Jackson, nee Wardner, 89, of Marissa, IL, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, January 4, 2019, at Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, IL. She was born September 14, 1929, in Wellsville, New York. She attended Shinglehouse High School in Shinglehouse, Pennsylvania, and upon graduation went to work as a telephone operator for New York Telephone Co. in Cuba, New York. At the outbreak of the Korean War, she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a radio operator. She attained the rank of Airman First Class, and also met the love of her life, James W. Jackson, while both were stationed at Mitchel A.F.B., Long Island, N.Y. They were married October 23, 1953. Patricia was a devoted wife and mother of three sons. A devout christian, a member of First Baptist Church in Marissa, IL, for nearly 50 years, where she taught Sunday School and served as a deacon. In recent years she was a member of Calvary Church in Sparta, IL. She volunteered her time at Sunshine Corner in Marissa for a number of years and lent a helping hand wherever and whenever she could. Patricia was a woman of great character and had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to read, spend time with family and crochet blankets, especially baby blankets for all the newborns at her church. She truly enjoyed her long life. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Jackson on April 1, 2011; and sons, Mark on June 24, 2014, and Kent on May 11, 1994. She is survivied by son Kevin of Marissa, IL; granddaughter, Amber (Lance) Simpson; and great-grandsons, Bishop and Alex, all of Yukon, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made by donating to the , Alzheimer Foundation of America or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Services: It was her wish to be cremated. Service provided by St. Louis Cremation. There will be no formal services. A Celebration of her life will be at a later date.

    Dana Wardner, native of Bolivar and resident of the area for many years, died on Nov. 13 in Tucson, Ariz., where he had made his home for the past five years. Mr. Wardner was born in Bolivar on July 27, 1904, a son of Lewis and Lulu Sawyer Wardner. He is survived by his widow, Florence, of Tucson; five children, Dana W. Jr., Mrs. Joan Reisdorph, Mrs. Patricia Jackson, Mrs. Marlene Thurber and Mrs. Bernadine Graft; two brothers, Vinton of Bolivar, and Paul Wardner; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral and committal serviceswere held in Tucson.
