    BARNETT (nee Shields) Catherine Irene Barnett passed away in Lynn Valley Care Centre in North Vancouver on Thursday, May 14th at the age of 90. Predeceased by Dudley, her loving husband of 64 years and her grandson Trever Cochrane, she is survived by four children; Lesley Brown (Stan), Loreen Barnett, Alden Barnett (Kathy Hamilton) and Cathy Cochrane (Kirk), 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Irene was born and raised in Manitoba. She completed her nursing training at the Winnipeg General Hospital in 1943 after which she and Dudley were married. She worked as a registered nurse until she and Dudley moved to Fort San in 1946 when he accepted a position with the Saskatchewan Anti-Tuberculosis League. She put her nursing career on hold to raise their 4 children. In 1968 she took a refresher course and once again became a Registered Nurse. She worked for a short while on the TB surveys. After retirement Dudley and Irene enjoyed many trips together and in 1987 moved to Kelowna, B.C. After Dudley's death in 2007 Irene moved to North Vancouver to be near family. A private family gathering to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.

    Catherine married George Dudley Barnett in 1943. George (son of George Colin Barnett and Jeanette Munro) was born in 1915 in Saskatchewan, Canada; died on 28 Dec 2007 in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada; was buried in Fort Qu'Appelle Cemetery, Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan, Canada.
