OBST, Wanda Dorothy August 27, 1962 - April 23, 2003 Passed away accidentally on Wednesday evening, April 23, 2003, Wanda Obst (nee Drynan) of Arnprior, in her 41st year. Beloved wife of Jeff Obst; loving mother of Megan and Derek, both at home; cherished sister of Deborah (Doug) Coady, Dianna and Don Drynan, all of Almonte, Darlene (Larry) Cole of Carleton Place and Donna (Keith Armstrong) Drynan of Kemptville; sister-in-law of Caroline (Patrick) Boyce of Vancouver and Ann Drynan of Almonte. Sadly missed by her nieces and nephews Nicole, Sean, Tasha, Erin, Jaclyn, Leroy, Jason, Jordan, Alyson, Dawn and Ray. Special great-aunt of Mikayla. Predeceased by her parents, Shirley and Orville Drynan and brother-in-law Dale Obst. Daughter-in-law of Eric and Lois Obst of Arnprior. Resting at The Boyce Funeral Home, Chapel, Vistation and Reception Centre, 138 Daniel St. N., Arnprior, where friends may pay their respects on Friday 2 to 4 p.m., 7 to 9 p.m. and after 12 noon Saturday, April 26th, thence to St. John's Lutheran Church, 49 McLachlin Street S., Arnprior, for funeral service at 2 p.m., Rev. John Jacobs officiating. Interment Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte. In memoriams to the Cancer Society or one's favourite charity appreciated by her family. Life-long area resident John Orval Drynan died at the Ottawa Civic Hospital Nov. 20 (1994) following a lengthy illness. He was 68. Mr. Drynan, who lived in Carleton Place, was born in Ramsay Township to mother Ellen Jane Cochrane and father John Robert Drynan on Sept. 22, 1927. He was educated in Clayton. He married Shirley Munro Dec. 31, 1953 in Middleville and lived in this area for 20 years. He owned Valley Taxi, retiring two years ago. Mr. Drynan is survived by son Donald Drynan of Almonte and daughters Deborah Coady and Dianna Drynan of Almonte, Darlene Cole of Carleton Place, Dona Drynan of Kars and Wanda Obst of Arnprior. The funeral service was held at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home in Carleton Place on Nov. 23, with Rev. John Bushby presiding. Interment at Clayton United Cemetery. Robert Drynan, Jim Rath, Craig Robertson, Bill Jinkinson, Keith Jinkinson and Donnie Lee were pallbearers.

Shirley (daughter of Gilbert George Munro and Margaret Edna Foster) was born on 16 Sep 1934 in Lanark Highlands Township, Ontario, Canada; died on 21 Sep 1993 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Shirley Louise Drynan died peacefully Sept. 21 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. She was 59. She was born Shirley Louise Munro to Gilbert G. Munro and Margaret E. Foster on Sept. 16, 1934, at their family home in Darling Township. She was a life-long resident of the Almonte area and attended school at S.S. #3 Darling Public and Almonte and District High Schools. She was employed for 20 years at the Almonte Flour Mill, until its closure in 1985. Previous to this she was employed at the Rosamond Memorial Hospital, Almonte and the Rosamond Woollen Mill, Almonte. Shirley Drynan was a proud and loyal member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 240 Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid worker/volunteer at the many functions of the Branch 240 Ladies Auxiliary and was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary Color Party. She thoroughly enjoyed being a member of and participating in various Legion sports activities (cribbage, euchre, horseshoes and her all-time favorite, darts). She was proud to have hosted the annual lawn darts tournament for the last number of years. Always with a quiet smile, she was a friend to many and those who loved her, miss her dearly. She is survived by and is the beloved mother of Deborah (Doug), Dianna, Donald (Ann), Darlene (Larry), Donna and Wanda (Jeff). Dearly loved Nanny of 10 grandchildren. Also survived by her mother, Margaret Munro and her sisters and brothers Beatrice, Mervyn, Vera, Bert, Gary, Helen, Jackie, Jean and Doug. Predeceased by her father, Gilbert Munro, and by two sisters; Flossie Houston and Muriel Stuart and by two brothers; James and Alex. Also survived by her friend and former husband, Orville. Rev. Ted Colwell led the funeral service at the Gamble Funeral Home and Chapel on Friday, Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. The Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch, 240 Honor Guard was present and the Ottawa Police Force provided a motorcycle escort to the Auld Kirk Cemetery for burial. Pallbearers were Don Johnson, Terry Warren, Todd Munro, Carl Smith, Kevin James and Wayne Munro.

Dearly loved mother of Beatrice (Mrs. Art Desarmia), Mervyn, Bert, Helen (Mrs. Glen James), Jack, Jean (Mrs. Murray Smith) and Doug all of Almonte, Vera (Mrs. Bill Church) of Fredericton, N.B., and Gary of Winchester. Also survived by 1 sister Rebecca, 28 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Predeceased by 3 daughters Mrs. Flossie Houston, Mrs. Muriel Stuart and Mrs. Shirley Drynan and 2 sons Alex and James, also by 4 brothers Ernest, Roy, Irvine and Thomas and 2 sisters Flossie and Jessie. Friends called at the C.R. Gamble Funeral Home, 127 Church Street, Almonte. Service was held in the Chapel on Monday. Rev. Ted Colwell officiated. Interment Clayton United Cemetery.
