    Everett William Banning Jr., 32, husband of Janis Chadbourne Banning of Hickory Lane, Ivoryton, died Sunday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, New London, after a head-on crash on Route 1 in Old Saybrook, late Saturday.
    He was born in Ivoryton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett W. Banning of Ivoryton, and he lived there all his life. He was employed by Bailey Metallurgical Company of Centerbrook for the past seven years and was formerly with Schellens and True Company of Ivoryton. He was a member of the Ivoryton Congregational Church, the Essex Fire Department and of BPOE No. 1784 of Westbrook.
    Besides his wife and parents he leaves a son, Everett William Banning III, at home, a daughter, Linda M. Banning, at home; a sister, Mrs. Richard Budney of Ivoryton; two nieces and four nephews. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 P.M. at Robinson and Wright Funeral Home, Main Street, Centerbrook. Burial is Centerbrook Cemetery, Centerbrook. Calling hours are Tuesday 7 to 9 P.M. Elks visitation at 8 P.M. Tuesday

He was born April 23, 1902, in Westbrook, son of the late William and Ida Platt Banning, and was a resident of Ivoryton most of his life. He was a retired plumbing and heating contractor. He was a chartered member of the Westbrook Lodge of Elks #1784.
    Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter Mrs. Richard (Delores) Budney of Ivoryton; a brother, Fred Banning if Ivoryton; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Riggio and Mrs. Ida Duffy, both of Ivoryton; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Everett Banning Jr.
    The funeral will be Wednesday, 11 A.M. at the Robinson, Wright and Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, Centerbrook. Burial will be in Centerbrook Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today 7 to 9 P.M. The Elks Service will be today at 7:30 P.M. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Homemaker Home Health Aid Service, 41 Church Road, Clinton 06413.

    Hazel Mae (Dee) Banning, of Melody Lane, Ivoryton, died Sunday at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. She was 86.
    Born in Westbrook, she lived in Ivoryton most of her life. She was a member of the Deep River Senior Club, and of the Essex Democratic Women's Club, serving as treasurer.
    She is survived by her daughter, Delores Budney of Ivoryton; her brother, Walter Dee of Kensington; three sisters, Patricia Monte of Old Saybrook, Emma Mason of Westbrook and Mary Jane Neri of New Jersey; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband, Everett W. Banning Sr., died previously.
    There are no calling hours. The funeral and burial will be private. Donations may be made to Essex Lion Charities, P.O. Box 525, Essex, CT 06426. The Robinson, Wright and Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook, is in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Ida Platt Banning, 94, of Chestnut Street, Ivoryton, widow of William Otis Banning, died Tuesday in Meadowbrook Convalescent Home in Middetown after a long illness. Born in Westbrook, she lived in Ivoryton the last 73 years. She was a member of the Westbrook Congregational Church.
    She leaves two sons; Everett Banning and Fred Banning, both of Ivoryton; and two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Riggio and Mrs. Harold Duffy, both of Ivoryton; seven grandchildren. A private funeral will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Cypress Cemetery, Westbrook. There are no calling hours. Robinson and Wright Funeral Home, Main Street, Centerbrook, is making the arrangements.
