Dearly loved husband of Gwen Heinzman and much loved dad of Hether Fassbender and Ian of Almonte and Barb of Pakenham. Predeceased by a daughter Sandra Mary Jean. Dear brother of Menzie of Ottawa, Elford of Almonte and Irene (Mrs Clare Rath) of Richmond. Also survived by a granddaughter Kristy. Friends called at the C.R.     Ernest Clarence Giles
    Long-time Almonte resident Ernest Clarence Giles died Aug 21 in the Almonte General Hospital at age 86. He was born in Fitzroy Township June 10, 1907 to the late Robert Giles and the late Jean MacArthur Giles. On April 24, 1929 he married the late Irene Marion Stewart MacGregor in Arnprior. A stationary engineer, Mr Giles lived most of his life in the Almonte and Renfrew areas. he was an elder with the Almonte Presbyterian Church. Mr Giles was a past master to the Royal Black Preceptory 639, Loyal Orange Lodge 378 and the Orange Young Britons 257. The Hope Street resident owned a 1906 Sawyer Massey steam engine which he exhibited at fairs around the area. Mr Giles is survived by sons Menzie of Ottawa and Elford of Almonte. daughter Irene Rath and sisters Mary Obrey, Laura Baird. Jean Sadler and Eleanor Carpenter. He was predeceased by son Ivan, brother Ivan and sister Florence Rae. Rev Grant Wilson led the funeral service at the C.R. Gamble Funeral Home Aug 24 at 2 p.m. Interment will be at the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael, Ian, Brent, and Scott Giles and Rodney and Dale Rath.

    MRS. ERNEST GILES
    The death of Irene Marion Stewart MacGregor, beloved wife of Mr. Ernest C. Giles of Hope street, Almonte, occurred at the Almonte General Hospital, on Monday evening, August 20th, after an illness of several years' duration. She was in her 68th year. Mrs. Giles was a member of the Almonte Presbyterian Church and of the Ladies' Orange Benevolent Association, having joined in Renfrew, and later joined No. 1209, Almonte. She was devoted to her family and her home. Born in Horton Township, Renfrew County, on December 8, 1905, she was a daughter of the late William Hart MacGregor and his late wife, Mary Elizabeth Wilson. She received her education at Horton Township public school. She was married to Mr. Giles on April 24, 1929, at Arnprior, by the late Rev. E. J. Kerr. Surviving besides her husband are three sons, Menzie M. of Ottawa, R. Elford and Ivan W. C., of Almonte; a daughter, Irene Mrs. Clare Rath) of Richmond, and one brother, Lawrence H. MacGregor, at home. A brother, William D. MacGregor, predeceased her in 1936. The funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home, Church street, on Thursday afternoon, August 23, to Almonte Presbyterian Church for service at 2.30 o'clock, with burial at the Auld Kirk Cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. Douglas C. McQuaig and Rev. Raymond Brown of Almonte Baptist Church. The L.O.B.A. held a funeral home service on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. for their late sister. Pallbearers were a nephew, William Charles MacGregor, Delmer Paterson, Felix Obrey, Edwin Lowry, Edward Scott and Wilbert E. Paterson.

    Mr Robert W. Giles passed away suddenly in Almonte General Hospital on September 2nd, 1970. Mr Giles was born in Ramsay Township on October 24, 1875, a son of the late Adonijah Giles and wife Margaret Evans. He was married in 1903 to the former Jean McArthur who predeceased him in 1948 Surviving are two sons, Ernest and Allan and five daughters, Mrs N.T. Sadler (Jean), Mrs Rae (Florence), Mrs Baird (Laura), all of Almonte, Mrs F. Obrey (Mary) of Rnefrew and Mrs W.J. Carpenter (Eleanor) of Smiths Falls and 18 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by twins, a son and daughter. Also surviving are three sisters: Mrs W. Elliott (Minnie) of Sonningdale, Sask, Mrs B. Traill (Ada) of Smiths Falls and Mrs E. Rankin (Eva) of Ottawa. Two brothers, Edward and Reuben and one sister, Elizabeth predeceased him and two half brothers, Findlay Gordon and William Gordon. The funeral was held from the Kerry Funeral Home, Elgin Street, on Saturday, September 5, 1970, with burial in the Auld Kirk Cemetery, Rev Robert McCrea of Almonte United Church conducted the service. Pallbearers were six grandsons: Elford Giles, Ivan Giles, Robert Giles, Robert Sadler, Donald Carpenter and Merville McGrath.

    Mrs Robert Giles
    The funeral of the late Mrs. Robt. W. Giles was held on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 13th, from the family residence, Malcolm Street, to the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. H. C. Wolfraim, pastor of Bethany United Church, of which she was a member. Mrs. Giles was ill only a week and died in her 66th year on Sunday morning. Jan. 11th. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends. Two favorite hymns of deceased were sung: "What A Friend We Have In Jesus," and "Abide With Me." The pallbearers were, Thomas Barclay, Harvey Scott, James Edmonds, Ernest Adams, Delmer Johnson and Morris Turner, the first five neighbours of the family. Among the many floral tributes were pieces from Textile Union No ? 104; Weaving Dept., Rosamond Woolen Co. Ltd.. and the Car Dept. C.P.R., Smiths Falls. Among those who attended from a distance were friends from Ottawa, Smiths Falls, Carleton Place, Pakenham and Renfrew. The late Mrs. Giles was the former Jean Edith McArthur, a daughter of the late Stephen McArthur and his wife, Mary Turner of Ramsay Township. She was married to Robt. Giles on July 26th, 1904. He survives her together with five daughters and two sons, Namely, Mrs. Rae (Florence); Mrs. E. Baird (Laura); Mrs. Norman Sadler, (Jean); and Miss Mary of Almonte; Mrs. W. J. Carpenter (Eleanor), Smiths Falls; Ernest and Allan of Almonte. Twins, a son and daughter, predeceased her. There are also three sisters and two brothers ? Mrs. James Paterson (Jessie), Ramsay; Mrs. Reuben Giles (Bertha) and Miss Ethel of Blakeney; Archie and Stephen, Blakeney. Two sisters and one brother predeceased her, Mary, Elizabeth and John. There are 10 grandchildren. Mrs. Giles' greatest interest was in her home. She had a kindly disposition and her sudden passing will be regretted by all who knew her.

    Mrs John F. Gordon
    Mrs Jno F. Gordon, a much esteemed resident of Ramsay township. passed peacefully away at her home on Tuesday, Dec 4th, at the age of 71 years. Her maiden name was Margaret Ann Evans, the eldest daughter of Wm Evans and Betsy Munro of Clayton. While quite young she became the wife of Adonijah Giles, who died in 1882. To them four children were born, Reuben of Blakeney; Robert W. of Almonte. Adonijah and Elizabeth A., Mrs Jacob Price of Sonningdale, Sask. The latter two predeceased her in 1916 and 1918 respectively. Some years later she married Jno F. Gordon, and this union was blessed with six children: Margaret, Mrs Tom Cavanagh, and Minnie, Mrs W.J. Elliott, of Sonningdale, Sask; William, 3rd line Ramsay; Eva, teacher in Crichton School, Ottawa; Findlay and Ada at home, All of these, with their father survive. The funeral service was conducted by Rev J.R. MacCrimmon of Bethany United Church, Almonte and was held on Thursday, Dev 6th, at 2 o'clock to the Auld Kirk cemetery. During the service Mrs J. Reilly and Mrs Clarence Kellough, by request, sang sweetly, "On Calvary's Brow." The pallbearers were Messrs George Robertson, Angus Sutherland, P.Y. Sutherland, John Turner, Will Giles and Herbert Coxford, The following floral tributes attest to the love deceased had won in hearts of neighbours and friends and expressed their sympathy: Gate Ajar, the family; Wreaths, Staff of Crichton Public School, Ottawa, Mrs N.J. Holmes, Ottawa; Mr and Mrs W.R. Traill, Lanark; Mr D. Boyd Traill, Sprays, Mrs Dr. MacFarlane and family, Ottawa; Pupils of Grade 6 and 7 Crichton School, Ottawa; Mrs J.
