| 801 |  | Walter Wonderly Walter A. Wonderly, age 86, of Holt Michigan & Lakeland, Florida, formerly of Tecumseh passed away July 13, 2016 at the Tecumseh Place II. Walt was born May 17, 1930 in Adrian Michigan, the son of William & Margaret (Kent) Wonderly. He grew up on a farm north of Britton Michigan and graduated Britton High School in 1948. In March of 1949 he joined the Michigan National Guard and was a member for 10 years. From 1952 to 1992 he worked at the Tecumseh Products and retired with 40 years of service. Walt married Norma Bilby in 1953 and had 5 children. In 2001 he married Jane (Halava) Kiersey. Walt is survived by his wife, Jane, his children, Gary (Tracy) Wonderly of Britton, MI, Gregg Wonderly of Adrian, MI, Glen (Carol) Wonderly of Cape Coral, FL, Janelle (Jeff) McClure and Dale (Erin) Wonderly both of Tecumseh, MI, one sister Dorothy (Don) Withrow also of Tecumseh and sister-in-law Pat Wonderly of Britton, MI. He had 5 step-children, Laurie (J.R.) McGraw of Holt, MI, Pam (Tom) Shaw of Mason, MI, Barb (Dave) Goss of Mears, MI, Terry (Tracy) Kiersey of Traverse City, MI and Larry (Kathy) Kiersey of Lakeland, FL and a step-sister-in-law Norma Doane who also survive him. Walt has 12 grandchildren, Adam Wonderly, Chad Wonderly, Cory Wonderly, Tyler Wonderly, Kiley Wonderly, Jill Wonderly, Tim Miller, Merissa McClure, Alexis McClure, Nick McClure, Reagan Wonderly Roman Wonderly, 10 step-grandchildren, Ben McGraw, Kelly McGraw, Sarah Malcangi, Matt Malcangi, April (Chad) Lincoln, Renee Kiersey, Ashleigh Kiersey, Jamie (Jacob) King, Shannon (Kyle) Getter, Brian Brooks, one great-granddaughter, Kenley Carter and 5 step-great-grandchildren, Isaac Wimer, Xavier Lincoln, Zalea Lincoln, Colton Kiersey and Bode Kiersey.He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Margaret, three brothers, Marlyn, Ronald and Bernard Wonderly, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Wonderly. Walt loved baseball and after graduation he received a letter from the Detroit Tigers Baseball Company to come and tryout with the Tigers at Briggs Stadium in Detroit. He did not get picked that day but went on to watch them play ball till the time of his death.He was a former member of the Tecumseh Jaycees, Tecumseh Grange, Tecumseh Pythians, the Holt Michigan Kiwanis, Lenawee County Tractor Club and was a scoutmaster for the Tecumseh Cub Scouts. He was a current member of the Moose Lodge Visitation for Walt will be held at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home in Tecumseh on Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tecumseh J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Schenck officiating. A private cremation burial will take place with the family at the Lake Ridge Cemetery at later date. | 802 | | Wanda Stricker STRICKER (nee KITCHEN), Wanda Yvonne June 9, 1958 - January 16, 2018 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAMA BEAR It is with extremely heavy hearts and great sadness to announce the passing of a truly amazing woman, mother, sister, grandmother, cousin, aunt, daughter and friend. Wanda courageously fought a brief battle with cancer for 8 months. During this time, she maintained hope, always carried a positive attitude and was determined to fight. We continue to thrive on her strength and will continue to carry that throughout our lives. Wanda was born in Newmarket, ON to the parents of Bruce Kitchen and Lula Byers. She was the eldest of four children, siblings Brian, Doug and sister Carol. Wanda grew up in Callander, On and often reminisced about how wonderful her childhood was, the friends she had made and the experiences of growing up, which would often lead to funny stories - which brought out her beautiful, yet infectious laughter and that alone could make a person smile for days. She attended West Ferris public school and definitely made an everlasting impression on everyone she met. As friends remember her for her positive and loving nature, Wanda maintained contact with several classmates over the years and enjoyed getting together to enjoy talks about the good old days, sharing some laughs and enjoying time with her friends. Wanda had a love for traveling. She was always excited about planning her next vacation, or even just taking a simple road trip. Her love for new experiences was amazing. Whether it would be across the world, or across the country - She had an incredible zest for life and all it could offer her. She kept a journal of all of her traveling experiences. Wanda worked in the insurance industry for over 25 years & and had an incredible work ethic. Every co-worker she had, has nothing but beautiful words to say about her. She worked very hard to give the best life she could to her two daughters, Nicole and Melanie. Whether it was words of wisdom or a kick in the pants, she always put her family first. Wanda became a grandmother for the first time in 2003 to a beautiful girl, Abby and again in 2010, welcomed a grandson, Jaysen. Nana became her new name and she was over the moon in love with her grand babies. Wanda was pre deceased by her dear Sister, Carol and sister in law, Joanne. She will be dearly missed by her parents, Bruce Kitchen (Claudette) and Lula Grey (Wallace) Brothers Doug Kitchen (Debbie) and Brian Kitchen (Mitch). He took ill suddenly Sunday night. Scott, a lifelong Lincoln resident, was senior partner of Hoskins and Associates engineering firm since 1945. He was president of the W.A. Lynn Construction Company and the Central State Bridge Company. Scott served as state engineer from 1941 to 1948 under governors Dwight Griswold and Val Peterson. Winn of 278 Conway Street and popular member of the junior class of the Greenfield High School passed away Monday night at the hospital where he had been confined the last few days.Several days ago the youth sustained a cut on his upper lip, infection set in and he was removed to the hospital. He was born in Brattleboro, Vt, but came to this town with his parents shortly afterward and attended local schools. He was a member of the First Congregational Church at Nash's Mill and also of the Young People's scociety of the church. He formerly was a member of Troop 5 Boy Scouts of America. At hihg school Winn was interested in athletics and played on several class teams.He wa a member of the high school commercialm club, and served on class committees. | 806 | | Wendell Tolles Tolles, Wendell J. passed away on Tuesday morning, April 21, 2015 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born on February 9, 1930 in Kalamazoo, the son of Leo and Alice (Carson) Tolles. Wendell was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. On June 4, 1954, he was united in marriage to his best friend and fishing partner, Joanne M. Tolles in Kalamazoo. In addition to fishing, Wendell enjoyed traveling with Joanne; camping/fishing at Interlochen State Park for over 50 summers and 23 winters in Florida. He was employed by Kalamazoo Public Schools for over 30 years and was a member of Sunnyside United Methodist. Surviving are two children, Douglas (Robyn) Tolles of Kalamazoo and Diane (Steve) McLeod of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, Jessica (Parker) Hornsby and Ian McLeod; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Hornsby; and several cousins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 25, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek Street. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. | 809 | | Wesley Schulde Wesley Alois Schlude, 96, beloved husband of Stephaine R. (Rittlinger) Schlude of Ellington, died Saturday (December 13, 2014) at Meadow Brook of Granby. He was born in Hartford on July 14, 1918 son of the late, Louis C. Schlude and Edna (Warner) Schlude; living in Hartford a short time and in Broad Brook a short time, moving to Ellington. Wesley worked for Pratt & Whitney in Production Engineering for 28 years, retiring at an early age to run his farm. Pratt & Whitney sponsored him at UConn for two years. He was schooled in Ellington and Rockville High School Class of 1936. He was a member of the Ellington Congregational Church and the Better Age Club. Wesley and his wife did a lot of traveling in their camper covering the East Coast and Canada. His family is one of the original settlers (Warners) of the Town of Ellington having settled in 1760. The house they lived in was built by one of his ancestors. In addtion to his wife, Stephaine, he leaves two sons and their wives, Robert W. Schlude, his wife, Christine Schlude of Moultonboro, NH and Leonard W. Schlude, his wife, Cathy Schlude of Bloomfield, CT; two grandchildren, Marianne Schlude DeCarli, her husband, Christian DeCarli and Glenn R. Schlude, his wife Michelle Charette and a great granddaughter, Jennah Schlude all residing in Ellington. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. Funeral and burial will be held privately. Mr. Tibbitts was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, moved to Ft. White in 1996 coming from Ft. Myers. He was a chemical engineer and he served in the US Navy during World War II in the Pacific. | 816 | | Wilfred Byers Wilfred Byers A long time resident of this city, Mr. Wilfred Byers passed away at Leisure World, Saturday, January 14th. He was 84. Mr. Byers was born and resided at Bark Lake (Renfrew County), as well as Nipissing Village and Parry Sound. He moved to North Bay in 1941. A person interested in nature, Mr. Byers was an ardent carver and mounted moose and deer horns as a hobby. He was also an avid hunter. He enjoyed music to the fullest, playing the violin for house parties when living in Nipissing and also as a pastime until sickness intervened. He also repaired violins. Mr. Byers is survived by a son, Emmeth, Mrs. John Collins (Helen), Mrs. Harvey Collins (Ethel) and Mrs. Robert Steed (Bernice), all of North Bay. He will be fondly remembered by fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Gordon of Clearwater, Florida, and a sister, Mary Ellen Lines of Florida. He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Byers, brothers, Kenneth, William, Lorne and Hubert, and a sister Mrs. George Hignell (Eucaria). He was born Jan. 23, 1925, in Kit Carson, Colo., to Phil and Lottie Kellogg Mullen. He was a longtime resident of the Maysville area. He was a rancher, carpenter and steel guitar player. He was a former president and charter member of the Northeast Oklahoma Steel Guitar Association, playing steel guitar for various events. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Billy Mullen. | 823 | | William Adams William Adams Sr., age 89, of 12 Burgess Place, Groton, died peacefully on Monday morning, April 24, 2006 surrounded by his family at the Groton Regency. He was born in New London on Aug. 16,1916, the son of Robert J. and Alida Vincent Adams. He fell in love and married Isabell Doyle on June 21, 1936. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this June. Bill worked for 38 years at Electric Boat Co. as a general foreman for quality control. During his employment he traveled to Idaho to work on the first nuclear powered submarine, "The Nautilus" and he also traveled to Saratoga Springs to work on the second nuclear powered submarine, "The Seawolf". He was a past foreman and life member of the Pioneer Hose Company in Groton and a charter and life member of the Groton Lodge of Elks and a member of Sacred Heart Church. After his retirement in 1976 he and Isabell enjoyed traveling around the world, Hawaii being one of their favorites. They enjoyed wintering in San Diego with their daughter Barbara. Bill's hobbies included woodworking, gardening and sports. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Most of all he enjoyed life and spending time with his family. During his stay at the Groton Regency he was loved and well cared for by the staff. Besides his wife he is survived by a son, William Adams Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Westerly; his daughter, Barbara Robinson, of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren, Debbie Camberos and her husband Jaime, of California, Sheryl Champlin and her husband, Harry, of Mystic, Kristin Partosan and her husband, Scott, of Mystic and William Adams III, of Stonington; and four great-grandchildren, Jaime, Tiana, Chelsae and Ryan. Bill also leaves a brother, Francis and his wife, Virginia Adams; two sisters, Janette and her husband, Roland Swanson, and Betty Mason. He also is survived by three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Weinberg, Lucy Doyle and Jane Doyle as well as several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by two brothers, Vincent and Robert Adams; and a sister, Vera Cortnoir. They farmed and supplemented their income in the tobacco farms of Southern Ontario. They raised a family of five and Bill devoted much of his life to family outings. Bill worked at Dupont from 1957 until retirement. He was widowed in August on 1991 and then married Irene Bradley on December 4, 1992. Bill South was a gentle, soft spoken, loving person who enjoyed the outdoors. He was involved in the Pine Ridge Hunt Camp and his own camp in Hornepayne. Bill has 15 grandchildren whom he loved very deeply, and they always looked forward to spending time with grandpa. Casket bearers for Mr. South were Tim South, Ryan South, The South, Matthew Colin, Kevin South, Michael South, Brandt Bradley and Dennis Johnston. He lived in Silver Spring. Mr. Banning also served in the Army Reserve, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1958. He was a native of New York who attended McKinley Technical High School. He was a 1939 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and also received a second bachelor's degree, in electrical engineering, from the University of Louisville. He served in the Signal Corps in North Africa and Europe during World War II and as a cryptographic security officer in Germany after the war. He resigned his commission in 1949 but continued with the National Guard and Army Reserve. He worked for the Naval Security Station starting in 1951 and retired from the NSA in 1979. Mr. Banning was a Boy Scout master and commissioner, former treasurer of Christ Episcopal Church in Kensington and a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Silver Spring and the Lutheran Lay Theology and Fellowship organizations. He also belonged to the Army-Navy Club, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Phoenix Society, Military Order of World Wars, National Rifle Association, Potomac River Jazz Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. His marriage to Katherine Whitaker ended in divorce. His second wife, Mildred Stirratt, died in 1989. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Banning of Silver Spring; two children from his first marriage, Richard C. Banning of Takoma Park and Julia Millar of Juneau, Alaska; two sons from his second marriage, Charles K. Banning of Annandale and Edward S. Banning of Old Lyme, Conn.; and a grandson. | |
| 827 | | William Beebe William Andrews Beebe passed away at home early in the morning on Oct. 2, 2016. Bill was born on May 11, 1935 in Worcester, Massachusetts, the son of Mae and Edwin Beebe. His formative years were spent in Vermont and Maine, where he graduated from Orono High school in 1953. After that he moved back to Burlington, attended the University of Vermont and earned a B.S. in technology, finishing in 1957. While at school he met Katharine Laura Fernald (Kay); they were engaged on graduation eve and married on March 8, 1958. After a honeymoon trip to Aspen for skiing, they continued on to Las Vegas, Nevada where Bill immediately began his Air Force tour of duty. Here their first son Christopher was born in September of 1959. Anticipating Bill?s deployment to Shemya Island, Alaska on the Bearing Sea, they loaded up the Studebaker Lark and drove east. Kay and Chris stayed first with her parents in Verona, New Jersey and then with Bill?s parents in Burlington, Vermont where early in 1961 their second son Michael was born. As soon as his Air Force service, operating a radar facility, was finished, Bill returned to New England and resigned from the military. The new family moved to Watertown, Massachusetts, where Bill enrolled in the Harvard Business School, graduating with an MBA in 1963. From there, it was back to the greater New York area where Bill was employed by Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Kay was employed feeding and chasing two increasingly active young men. After about three years, Bill accepted a position as chief financial officer at a then small company called Dunkin? Donuts in the Boston area and the family moved to Scituate, Massachusetts. Several years later he went on to work and consult for a variety of small, struggling high tech companies in the Boston area, focusing his talents towards reorganizing management strategies. Kay and Bill lived on the South Shore for the next 35 years, until Kay got her long standing wish to relocate to Montana, where she could be closer to her new grandsons. In the autumn of 2000, they settled in Bozeman, where Bill eased into retirement. Bill lived an active life; he loved to ski, play tennis, hike, fish and garden. He always read a lot, and as he grew older, he spent more and more time in the kitchen, making dishes from his ever-growing cookbook and recipe collection. He will be long remembered for his quick wit, common sense and devotion to his family. Preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Mae, and his son Mike, Bill is survived by his sister Nancy, his other son Chris and three grandchildren; Ava, Fergus and Max. A quiet, family memorial celebration is planned for Thanksgiving Day, his favorite holiday. | |

The late Mr Gordon farmed all his life in this community. He was born in Burlington on April 28, 1926, the son of the late William and Hazel (Walton) Knight. During World War II, Bill was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army and was involved in combat for two years. Upon his return to civilian life, he was employed as a mechanic for Wheeler's Farm Machinery. May 9, 1953, he married Beatrice "Bea" Hallock in Huntington. Bill loved the outdoors and all aspects of nature. He was a self-employed logger. He was an avid fisherman and very successful hunter. He always had a large vegetable garden with excess produce that he shared with neighbors and friends. His potato yield was always abundant, and he had many loyal customers who depended on his crop. During his retirement years, he derived much pleasure from washing and sorting them to keep himself busy. The Knight family always had a large assortment of animals that were an important part of the family. He is survived by his children, Karen and Mike Doolan of Essex, Myron Knight and his partner, Patricia Haskins, of Huntington, Michael and Sheila Knight of Starksboro, Marvin Knight of Winooski, Marty Knight of Waterbury, Monte and Becky Knight of Huntington, Milford and Laurie Knight of Burlington, and Merle and Carolyn Knight of Bristol; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandson; four sisters, Hazel Smith of Winooski, Sally Walters of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Eliza Simard of Springfield, Mass., and Marion Beaker of Pine Island, N.Y.; three brothers, Robert Knight of Monroe, N.Y., Emery Knight of McGraw, N.Y., and David Knight of Lomax, Texas; many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; and his special pal, Tommy, his faithful cat. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and three sons, William Harvey Scott of Almonte, and Alston and James of Melville, Sask; three daughters Ila, Mrs H.L. Coxford of Almonte; Lucy, Mrs Frank Snow, of Fort William and Bessie, Mrs George Van Iderstine of Moose Jaw, and two brothers, John A. Scott of Toronto; and W.E. Scott of Almonte. Three sisters, Mrs Robert Young of Almonte, Mrs J. Robertson of Castor, Alta, and Mrs W.S. Baldwin of Shoal Lake, Man, also survive. | |
| 849 | | William Scott William Harvey Scott Fitting tribute to the memory of the late William Harvey Scott was paid at his funeral on Thursday Nov 5th, by a large number of sorrowing friends and relatives. Mr Scott had been in apparent good health until 10 days before his death when he suffered a heavy stroke from which he did not rally. He passed away on Tuesday, Nov 3rd, in the Rosamond Memorial Hospital. He was in his 72nd year. Born in Ramsay Township in Union Hall district, Mr Scott was a son of the late William Henry Scott and his wife, Rachel Evans. When he was 10 years of age, the family moved to the farm near Almonte now owned by Ernest Robertson. A short time later they moved to town. As a young man, he entered the employ of the Rosamond Woolen Company where he served for many years as an overseer of the Warping and Winding Department. In 1907, he married Miss Mary E. Davis of Almonte who survives with tow sons, Harvey Arthur and Edward Davis, and one grandson, David Scott. A son, Kenneth Bethune, predeceased him at the age of 18 years. He also leaves two sisters, Ila, Mrs Herbert Coxford, of Almonte and Bessie, Mrs Geo Van Iderstine of Saskatoon; and one brother, James Scott of Melville, Sask. Mr. Scott was a quiet, kindly man who was popular with a large circle of friends. He loved the outdoors and derived great pleasure from his frequent fishing trips to White Lake. He was a member of Almonte United Church The Rev J. Ray Anderson officiated at the service which was held at his home, Malcolm Street, Almonte. The pallbearers were Messrs Chas Houston, Louis Peterson, Harold Prescott, Geo Pretty, Wm Munro and Walter Morton. Among the beautiful floral tributes were wreaths from the employees of the Rosamond Woolen Company and Carleton Wholesale Limited. Internment was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Among those who attended the funeral from a distance was his brother, Mr James Scott of Melville, Sask; Mrs Scott's sister, Mrs W.J. Carnahan of Chapleau and Mr Carnahan and relatives and friends from Smiths Falls, Kemptville and Ottawa. | |

(Lucy) Stanton and Diane F. (Kenneth) Cohen, devoted grandfather of Kate, Andrew, Abby and Louise and great-grandfather of Ben, Alex, Eliana, Patrick, Julia, Jacob and Hugo. He was also brother to John E. Stanton.
