Tony E. Brewer VIRGINIA BEACH - Tony E. Brewer, 56, of the 2400 block of Barn Owl Court, safely crossed from earth to eternity in his home May 13, 2008. Tony spent many special and favorite times at his beach "home away from home" with Teresa in Carova, N.C. There, too, he was a familiar face and friend to many. Tony went about everything in his life, from work to relationships, with passion, compassion and perfection. His love for life, his smile and laughter were contagious. He will be truly missed but never forgotten by so many who have fond and loving memories of him and will forever celebrate his life. "What will matter is not how many people you know, but how many will feel a lasting loss when you're gone." Tony was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 36 years, Teresa Dawn Brewer; a son, David Brewer of Virginia Beach; his mother, Dorothy Holloman of Ahoskie, N.C.; his father, Jack Thomas Brewer of Albemarle, N.C.; a sister, Vicki L. Kassick of Virginia Beach; a brother, Steve Brewer of Charleston, S.C.; two nieces and nephews, Jason and Lauren Solomon and Christian and Maria Brewer, all of Virginia Beach. A celebration of Tony's life will be held Friday at 7 p.m. in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.

Battle Creek Native Was 103 Years Old
Tracy M. Pennock, 103, of Chippewa Lake and formerly of Battle Creek, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 1990, at the home of his son, Erwin Pennock, with whom he had lived for the past 10 years.
He was born in Ross Township and lived in Battle Creek at 30th Street and Upton Avenue for 62 years.
While in Ross Township, he worked as a farmer and moved to Springfield in 1919
He was formerly employed by the former Rich Manufacturing Co. and by the old A.B. Stove Co. and by Eaton Manufacturing, before retiring in 1955.
Surviving are sons, Erwin and Maurice Pennock of Si. James City, Fla, four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
His wife, the former Emma Langs, died in 1961. A daughter, Mac Stoddard, died in 1980. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at East Hickory Corners Cemetery
Arrangements are by Royal Funeral Home.

MRS. TRESSIE V. BRASTED
Tressie V. Brasted, age 80, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1971, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro. Funeral services were held at the Shaw and Robena Funeral Home Friday at 1;30 p.m. The Rev. Benjamin Levin officialed. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Survived by husband Delbert Breasted; daughter Miss Gwendolyn Brasted, at home; sister, Mrs. Bernice Tucker of Arkport, N.Y.
Mrs. Brasted was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mansfield.

Tristan was suddenly and tragically taken from us at the young age of 33, the victim of a violent crime. Left to grieve, and to figure out how to live without the hope of having him in their lives again are his parents Norman and Rebecca (Coldwell); his children Lolaa, Daynna, Treydan (mom Kattalina); sisters Meesha (Hanna, Isabella, Brooklyn, Coltyn, Elliott), Abigail and Amelia (Maiya); grandparents Doug & Dawn Coldwell and Fred & Millie Ayers, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Tristan was a son, father, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, and a friend to many. He was a kind, caring, empathetic, generous, hardworking and helpful young man who loved his children and family tremendously. He loved nature and exploring our Northern bush, climbing trees, camping, campfires, cliff jumping, rock climbing and passing on his love for adventure to his children. Most of all, Tristan loved to laugh and his presence filled a room! Tristan will be fiercely missed by all who knew him. A memorial will be held in his honour on January 14, 2023 at South Shore Church, 1892 Hwy 654 W, Callander. The family will receive visitors starting at 1:00 pm with the service following at 2:00 pm. Varda Campbell, Aged One, and Gerald, Aged Two, Victims at Thurso
Explosion of coal oil poured into a stove to hasten the fire resulted in the deaths of two children in the farmouse of Donald E. Campbell at The lower", seven miles north of Thurso yesterday, Verda Campbell, his one-year-old daughter, died in the Civic Hospital early today, while Gerald Campbell, aged two, died on the way to the train from the farm house.
According to Miss Ethel MacKenzie, 6 Fifth avenue, a step-daughter of Mr. Campbell, the latter wanted to light the fire in the stove in the kitchen of he farm house. He decided to put some coal oil on the coal to quicken the blaze.
Thought Fire Was Out
Miss MacKenzie said Mr. Campbell poured some oil on the supposedly dead coals, but apparently one of the pieces of coal was hot enough to ignite the liquid. There was an instant explosion.
One-year-old Verda was sitting in her high chair beside the stove and Gerald was playing on the floor. With the explosion of the oil fumes, the curtains on the windows took fire. Mr. Campbell tried to extinguish the blaze with oats and succeeded in smothering it.
Articles in the room caught fire as well. Misa MacKenzie related to The Journal, and the light clothing of the two children was ignited. In his frantic efforts to beat out the fire in the room and to help the screaming babies, Mr. Campbell's arms and legs were terribly burned.
No one else was at home at the time. The other members of the family, Mrs. Campbell and an 18-year-old son, Gordon, were in Thurso shopping, a daughter, Muriel, and another son, Arthur, aged eight, were at school. They did not discover the disaster until after they had returned from the town and school.
Sent to Hospital.
Difficulty was experienced in obtaining a physician, as the farm-house is isolated. Finally, Dr. Poliquin was located near Thurso. He gave first aid to the three injured and ordered the children removed to a hospital.
While the father remained at home under treatment of Dr. Poliquin, Mrs. Campbell took the two babies in a sleigh driven by the eldest son and started for Thurso. Gerald died before they reached Thurso. The mother and Verda continued on to the city, where Verda died in the Civic Hospital early today
The body of the child was removed to Woodburn's undertaking parlors.

NORWICH (UPI) - Two men were killed Sunday in the collision of a sports car and a tractor trailer on the mid-Cape highway near here. Police identified the victims as Elmer J. Pekuri, 37, Stoughton, driver of the truck, and Edward A. Smith, Jr., West Springfield who was at the wheel of the sports car.

She moved to Bakersfield where she remained until she went home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2010. Velma is survived by her sister, Elisabeth Flood of Fresno, CA; son, Sandy Chaddick and wife Brenda; daughter, Judy Murphy and husband Jack; granddaughter and longtime caregiver, Cindy Koepp and partner Diana Herr; grandsons, Brian Koepp, Greg Koepp and fiancée Yvette Christine; granddaughter, Nicole Ocampo and husband Luis; grandson, Jeff Chaddick and wife Amber; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jacob, Quinton, Kaitlyn, Brooklyn; and adopted great-granddaughter, Maria. Velma was very involved in many local charities, donating both time and money to the causes which she found important, such as the Bakersfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She had a special love for Trinity Methodist Church of which she had been an active member since 1927. But what was most important to Velma was her love of God and family. Velma's family would like to thank the staff of Southwest Westchester Gardens and Optimal Hospice for all of their loving care.
