3051 Leotta M. Banning, 77, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., died Sunday, July 15, 2001 at her residence.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Friday, July 20 at Masonic Cemetery in Mount Pleasant under the direction of Bates-Cooper Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Newton officiate.
Mrs. Banning was born March 29, 1924 in Upshur County. She taught many years for the Dallas Independent School District.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Banning of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; son and daughter-in-law, Powell and Candace Banning of Grapevine; daughter, Jeannie Banning of Carbondale, Ill.; granddaughters, Elizabeth Banning, Megan Banning, both of Grapevine and Kristin Banning of Carbon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Village United Methodist Church of Hot Springs Village, Ark., or Shrine Hospital for children.

3052 Leroy "Lee" Perry Lapeer Leroy "Lee" Perry, 69, of Lapeer, passed away Saturday (October 29, 2005). He was born August 31, 1936, in Sanilac County, to Vernon and Olive (Sanderson) Perry. He married Lois L. Kerbyson on August 27, 1955 in Croswell. Mr. Perry worked for Buick Motors-Flint in transmission assembly. He is survived by his children, Michael (Yolanda) Perry of Florida, Linda (Scott) Winegardner of Lansing, Patricia (Robert) Travis of Tennessee, Daniel (Ruth) Perry of California; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Don (Jean) Perry of Port Huron and Verna Thompson of Sandusky. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Perry, in April 2005; parents, Vernon and Olive Perry; brother, Alan Perry. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lupus Foundation. 3054 LeRoy E. Banning, 87, of Bradway Road, Stafford Springs, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at home. He was the widower of the late Mildred M. (Yurczak) Banning, who died on December 20, 1993.
LeRoy was born in Stafford Springs, the son of the late Frank and Nellie (Marsdale) Banning. He was a retired mill wright at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, and a member of St. Edward Parish.
LeRoy is survived by 2 sons, David L. Banning of Enfield, D. Richard Banning of Mena, Ark.; 2 daughters, Joyce Banning Dix of Holland, Mass., Sharon Banning Greika of Stafford Springs; 7 grandchildren, Natalie Dix, Kristie Katkavich, Luke Greika, Hillary Greika, Sean Banning, Stacy Banning, Roseanne Petitto; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marsha Mather of Vermont, Grace Baker of California; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral will be held Thursday, July 7, 2005, with a procession forming at 9 a.m. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main Street, Stafford Springs, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Edward Church, High Street, Stafford Springs. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs.

3055 Leroy Fitch Hubbard passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Arlington Nursing Home in Long Grove. He was born May 2, 1929, the son of the late Herschel and Hazel Hubbard of Downers Grove.
A graduate of Downers Grove High School and James Millikin University, he served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean conflict.
He is survived by son Kevin Hubbard of Lombard and daughter April Mrozek (Mike) of Lombard as well as grandchildren Jerico Hubbard and Samantha and Angela Mrozek. Surviving siblings are sisters Florence (Joseph) Babos of Fox River Grove, Helen (Jack) Martin of Arlington Heights, and Sharon (late Jerry) Tannenbaum of Plainfield and brothers William (Kaye) Hubbard of Aurora and Raymond (Rose) Hubbard of Ferryville, Wisconsin. He leaves thirteen nieces and nephews and twenty grandnieces and grandnephews, and is mourned by dear friends Michelle McDonough (William) of Bloomingdale; and Karina Ottolino (Rocco) of Hanover Park.
Plans for a private memorial service are pending.

3056 Leslie Arthur Knight, age 89, went to be with his Lord, Monday, November 28, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Glynna Knight parents Edson and Bertha Knight.
He will be remembered by his children L. James (Janet) Knight, Marvin (Barbara) Knight, Lonnie Knight, Karen (Steve) Zwyghuizen; brothers Lyle Knight, Leo Knight, Loren Knight, Lawrence Knight, Leonard Knight; sisters Louella Hamblin, Laverna Albrecht; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Millie Knight; many nieces and nephews.
Les retired from General Motors after 45 years. He was a long-time member and deacon of Maple Hill United Brethren Church. Les loved Tigers baseball, bowling, gardening and yard work. When he was younger he used to build houses with his brother Loren and continued his love of wood by making many projects for family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-8PM Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Cook Funeral Home (West Building) 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Friday, December 2, 2016 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building). Interment will be at Floral View Memorial Gardens.
In honor of Les and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Spectrum Hospice.

3057 Leslie Glascock Stetson, 37, died March 6, 1996, in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Stetson was born in Richmond, Virginia. Mrs. Stetson was a graduate of Hollis College class of 1981.
Survivors include her mother, Marietta Carr Glascock ; two sisters, Kinney Reed Glascock and her husband Adam R. Brown, and Mary Todd Glascock and her husband Lionel Charuau; and her nephew, Henri Charuau; and her grandmother, Natalie Ayerst Carr, all of Virginia Beach.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Simons's Episcopal Church Sandbridge by Rev. John H. Jordan. Memorial donations may be made to Judeo/Christian Outreach 17th Street, Virginia Beach, Va. 23451 or Virginia Beach Public Libraries. The family will be at 215-54th Street following memorial service. 3058 Leslie J. Dale - A retired farmer of the Cumberland district, Leslie James Dale, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. John Shorkey, Cumberland, on Monday, following a brief illness. He was in his 60th year.
A life-long resident of Cumberland and a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Dale, he received his education in local schools, and had farmed in the district up until his retirement a few years ago. His sole survivor is a sister, Mrs. Shorkey of Cumberland.
The funeral service will be conducted at the home of his sister on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Dale's Cemetery.

3059 LESLIE JOHNNIE TEUTON, 81, of Hedgesville, died Friday, July 3, 1998, at Heartland of Martinsburg, Martinsburg, W.Va. Born April 29, 1917, in Burbank, Fla., he was the son of the late Charles and Alice Pictorial Robinson Teuton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Ruth Teuton, in 1994.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was in the reserves for 12 years, retiring as a chief petty officer. He owned and operated Gaithersburg TV and Radio Service for 34 years.
He is survived by four daughters, Dorothy Lee Martin of Jefferson, Md., Carol Ann Peake of Columbia, S.C., Susan Jane Trent of Point of Rocks, Md., and Judith May Trexler of Hedgesville; two sons, James Joseph Teuton of Terrell, Texas, and Charles Raymond Teuton of Yorktown, Va.; a brother, Hugh Teuton of Ocala, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; agreat-great-grandchild; several stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Leslie J. Teuton Jr.
Services were held at Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown; burial was in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park; military graveside services were conducted by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

3060 Lester Banning, a longtime resident of Del City and Pastor of Del Haven Tabernacle in Del City for 37 years passed away August 16, 2012. Lester was born June 7, 1920 to Frank and Myrtle (Bartholomew) Banning in Cleveland County, Oklahoma. He married Juanita Shelton, January 29, 1941 and they had three children, Betty, Tom and John. Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Myrtle and his two brothers, Harvey and Leo.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Juanita, his sister, Mae Mitchell and husband, Bill, his daughter, Betty Rogers and husband, Tom, his son, Tom and wife, Wanda, his son, John, and wife, Denise. Lester is also survived by nine grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, one sister-in-law, Dorothy Holmes, and two brothers-in-law, Jack and Mack Shelton.
Lester enjoyed people and sowing in their lives spiritually and materially over the years. His enjoyment was spending time with family, fishing and boating and annual trips to Roaring River and Lake Eufaula with family.

3061 Lester Lee Mullen was born to Clark Albert Mullen and Sarah Augusta Newman in Pilot Grove Township, Montgomery County, Iowa. His brothers and sisters were Florence Lucinda (Shumate), Guy Edgar, Charles Raymond, Phillip Merriss, Howard Ralph, Harold Merritt, Grace Evelyn (Bennett), Lena May (Cheesman) and Loyd Albert. Howard and Lester were not identical twins. He was raised in Montgomery County,Iowa and moved to Kit Carson County, Colorado with his family in 1906. He attended school through the 8th grade. The family moved to Jewell County, Kansas in 1906.

Lester married Eva Myrtle Baldwin on 5 Aug 1915 in Smith Center, Smith County, Kansas. They had two children, Kenneth Lyle Mullen and Maxine Louise Mullen. Lester, Eva and Kenneth moved to South Dakota to a rented farm northwest of Wakonda, Clay County in the late 1910s. Lester worked as a farm laborer. They then moved to Idaho in November 1936; first on rented land in the Grant area north of Idaho Falls in Bonneville County and then purchasing an 160 acre farm in the Goshen area southeast of Shelley in Bingham County. Lester and Eva lived and farmed there with Kenneth, his wife, Marjorie, and their three sons until Lester's death from a heart attack on January 13, 1973 while visiting Maxine and her husband, Alma Robinson, in Soda Springs, Caribou County, Idaho.

Taberg ? Alfred J. Lewis, 54, died Jan 3, 1955 at his home on the Taberg-Florence Rd.
He was born March 19, 1900 in Rome, son of Fred and Elizabeth Pfeiffer Lewis. He married Marian Ballard in Taberg Oct. 12, 1921. He lived in Taberg for the past 30 years. He was a farmer and had worked for 14 years as a meat cutter for his brother in Rome. He was a communicant of St. Patrick?s Church, Taberg, and a member of the Taberg Volunteer Fire Company.
Surviving besides his wife, are two sons, Edgar F., Camden; and Joseph at home; two daughters, Mrs. Edward McNamara, Lowell and Mrs. Harold MacFarland, Rome; 17 grandchildren, a brothers, Willis, Taberg; four sisters; Mrs. John Mathis, Mrs. Raymond Darrow and Mrs. Gaylord Rieck all of Rome and Mrs. Walter Pierie, Ogdensburg; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 9 tomorrow from the B. A. Sanborn Funeral Home and 10 from St. Patrick?s Church, Taberg. Burial will be in St. Patrick?s Cemetery, Taberg.

3067 Lewis D. Banning, Sr., of Manchester, died Tuesday, (March 25, 2003) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of 57 years of Evelyn (Wutsch) Banning. Born in Hartford, son of the late Clinton and Hilda (Vujs) Banning, he was raised in Glastonbury and had resided in Manchester for over 51 years. He was a navy veteran of World War II and was awarded the Silver Star. Mr. Banning had worked for the Manchester Public School System for many years and retired from the communications dept of St. Francis Hospital. He had been an adult leader for the Boy Scouts of America in Troops 27 and 3 in Manchester. He was a member of the Manchester Church of the Nazarene and was active at the Windsor Hill Nazarene Family Camp & Retreat Center in Hillsboro, NH. Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Lewis Banning Jr. and his wife, Rosalyn of Southington; his daughters, Susan Baron of Greensboro, NC, Diane Bliss and her husband, Paul of Glastonbury, and Jane Bernier and her husband, Clifford of Brooklyn; and his daughter-in-law, Lori Banning-Smith and her husband, Stoner Smith of Ellington. He also leaves his grandchildren, Lewis D. Banning III, Andrew and Stacey Baton, Tyler and Amanda Bliss, Pamela and Valerie Banning and Jaime and Thomas Acquavella; his sister, Frances Ellsworth of Portland; and several nieces and nephews. 3072 Lida Mae (Price) Snyder Fraly, 80, of Crocket, Texas, died Nov. 6 at her daughter's home.
She was born to Elijah and LaRue (Calhoun) Price in Portland. Her parents died when she was 10, so she was raised by her dad's sister, Mae Clarke, in Portland.
In 1950, she married her childhood sweetheart, James R. Snyder, in Vancouver, Wash. They had three children together and divorced in 1966. They remained good friends until Jim's death in 2000.
In August 1967, Lida married Donald E. Fraly in Stevenson, Wash. They made their home in Manistee, Mich., and had two sons.
After Don's death in 1975, Lida moved home to Oregon and worked for many years at Hewlett-Packard in Corvallis. She retired in 1998.
In May 2009, due to poor health, she moved to Crocket to live with her daughter, Brenda.
She is survived by daughter Beverly McCarthy and husband Terry of Albany; son James R. Snyder III and wife Helena of Washington; daughter Brenda Snyder and husband Wayne of Texas; son Freeman E. Fraly and wife April of Germany; four granddaughters; three grandsons; three great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Freeman, Lynn, George and Lawrence Price; sister Marion Schmidt; son Edward; and husbands James R. Snyder and Donald E. Fraly.

His farm contained 300 acres which he mainly cleared.. He was one of the prominent men of his town, and held most of the town offices, and was also an influential member of the Methodist church, and gave liberally for the construction of their first meeting-house. He died on his farm at the age of eighty-seven years. He had a family of thirteen children, several of whom settled in town. His son Ebenezer, born in Berlin May 30, 1796, married Sally BENJAMIN, daughter of Maj. Josiah, and settled on a farm on the opposite side of the road from his father. He was always a farmer and resided in Berlin from his birth to the close of his long life, August 13, I885, aged eighty-nine years. He was the father of ten children, all of whom lived to mature age. Mr. BAILEY was a man of sterling integrity, a good citizen, and obliging neighbor. Ozias B. BAILEY is the only one of his sons now residing in Berlin. He is now a justice of the peace and is engaged in farming.

3076 Lieutenant Fremont W. Walton Honored Way Out In Oregon

Salem, Ore., Aug 25. - A patriotic party was given Thursday evening in honor of Lieutenant Fremont W. Walton, who recently returned from the first training camp of officers at the San Francisco Presidio, by his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R.D. Barton, 598 North Seventeenth Street, assissted by Mrs. F.S. Barton, an aunt of the guest of honor. Lieutenant Walton is only 21 years old and besides being an officer was given his sheepskin as a graduate of the Oregon Agricultural College last June. He is a brother of Dr. R.W. Walton who is a graduate of Elizabethtown High School. Lieutenant Walton left to-day for American Lake after a short furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Walton, 790 North Seventeenth Street.
Red, white and blue asters lent an appropriate decorative scheme in the rooms. Games were enjoyed earlier in the evening and a program of music was given. Besides ukulele and guitar selections, Miss Lulu R. Walton gave readings and Miss Grace Elizabeth Smith and Mr. Allen Manning sang. Later dainty refreshments were served with a cake covered with tiny fluttering flags.

3078 Life has given us a sad corner to turn when Ron Blanchard?s big heart stopped on the morning of November 26 at the QEII hospital in Grande Prairie.
He was born on July 17, 1945, and passed away on November 26, 2021, at the age of 76. He was born in Greenbush Ontario, and after he finished tech school, he journeyed out to Saskatchewan and went farming for a little while. He then went to work at BF Goodridge tire shop in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. On September 22, 1972, he married Charlotte Covlin, and they moved to Fort Nelson British Columbia. He worked at a gas plant, and they lived there for almost 50 years. They were visiting Jeff and Jodi in Grande Prairie, when Ron got sick.
Ron leaves to mourn his wife Charlotte, son Eldon (Jane), son Jeffrey (Jodi), and daughter Pam. His grandsons Antonio, Khyver, Bryce, Rhett, and his only granddaughter Ericka. He also leaves behind to mourn his sisters Helen (Garnett), Evelyn, Beth, Lillian, Bernice, and brothers John and Kenneth.
He is predeceased by his parents Eldon and Marion Blanchard, sister Shirley Blanchard, and nephews Arthur Blanchard, Stephen Blanchard and Troy Laming.
His service will take place on December 4, at the Bear Creek Funeral Home. At 10 am, there will be a public viewing, and the service at 11 am for invited guests only.

Loving son of Mavis (Atkins) Durant and the late Gordon Wesley Durant. Beloved husband of Anne (McCurdy) Durant and cherished father of Gordon Durant (Shannin) and John Durant (Stephanie). 3080 Life-long area resident John Orval Drynan died at the Ottawa Civic Hospital Nov. 20 (1994) following a lengthy illness. He was 68. Mr. Drynan, who lived in Carleton Place, was born in Ramsay Township to mother Ellen Jane Cochrane and father John Robert Drynan on Sept. 22, 1927. He was educated in Clayton. He married Shirley Munro Dec. 31, 1953 in Middleville and lived in this area for 20 years. He owned Valley Taxi, retiring two years ago. Mr. Drynan is survived by son Donald Drynan of Almonte and daughters Deborah Coady and Dianna Drynan of Almonte, Darlene Cole of Carleton Place, Dona Drynan of Kars and Wanda Obst of Arnprior. With heavy hearts the family announce, In the early morning of October 19 Lila slipped away to join her late husband Arnold. She was predeceased by her husband, her siblings and a grandson Shane.
Left to mourn and forever love her is her daughter Eleanor (Ron) Scharf, grandson Jim (Suzie) Donley and granddaughter Heather (Mike) Stiegler, Rachel (widow of Shane). 3082 Lilian Thorley was born 03 May 1920 in Miles Platting, a suburb of Manchester in England. She worked for the heavy engineering firm of Mather & Platt, Park Works, Newton Heath. She had papers in welding and paint spraying and remembered painting assemblies for tanks and wings for Spitfires. She married George Harvey Clark on 25 July, 1945 at St. Luke's Parish Church in Miles Platting. She came to Canada as a war bride in 1946 on the Aquitania and then by rail to North Bay. 3085 Lillian H (Pinney) Chamberlain, 95, of Westbrook, CT, passed away on February 3, 2018 at Middlesex Hospital Hospice. She was born on October 30, 1922 to the late Earle & Genevieve Pinney.
A lifelong member of the Westbrook Garden Club she had many prized plants in her own gardens some even used to make her jams, jellies and preserves enjoyed by many. A well known seamstress she preferred working on slipcovers and draperies because "They don't change sizes" She was also a member of the Westbrook Auxiliary were she enjoyed things like baking for the Fireman's annual carnival. Her greatest joy was spending time with those she loved.
Lillian is survived by her son, Guy and his wife Dorothy; her daughter, Linda and her husband Gerald; granddaughters, Ashlyn Chamberlain, Melissa Bailey, Dora Laundenslager and Claire Chmielecki; 8 great grandchildren; 7 great -great grandchildren and 1 great -great -great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Guy Sr; sisters, Louis Harmon, Alice Chase and Arline McDanel; grandchildren, Laura, Stephan, Colin, and Gregory Chamberlain.

3086 Lillian J. ( Rinaldi ) Stevens 89, of Suffield, widow of Howard C. Stevens, entered into eternal peace Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at Suffield House, Suffield.
Born in the Thompsonville section of Enfield on June 22, 1920, the daughter of the late Calogero and Calogera (Attardi) Rinaldi, Lillian resided for many years in Somers and for the last decade had resided in Suffield. Lillian was employed by Monarch Life Insurance, Stevens Millwork, Fleet Bank (formerly CBT), and Bob's Stores. She loved playing cards with her constant companions by her side, her dogs, Molly and Mindy, and following her favorite sports teams, the Boston Red Sox and UConn women's Huskies basketball.
Lillian's family wishes to extend their sincere and heartfelt thanks to Bryan Sherman at the Suffield House and her dear friend, Rita Schaperjahn of Enfield.
Lillian is survived by her daughter, Dianne Stevens of Suffield, with whom she made her home; her sister-in-law, Jen Rinaldi; brother-in-law, Richard Hickson; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Howard C. Stevens; a sister, Mary Hickson; a brother, Louis Rinaldi; a brother-in-law, Everett Stevens; and sisters-in-law, Ethel Bracewell and Helen Brennan.

3087 Lillian L. Murray, aged 89, life resident of Fernwood for the past 70 years, passed away Sunday at Morningstar Nursing Home in Oswego. Lillian was born June 25, 1926 in Mexico, the daughter of Lawrence and Madora Morton Rose. She graduated from Mexico High School in 1943. Lillian married Clarence Grant Murray on September 29, 1946 and he passed away August 30, 1995. She was employed by Oswego County Department of Social Services for 23 years, retiring in 1983. She was also employed by Carrier Corp for 10 years.
Surviving are one son, Gary R. (Sue) Murray of Fernwood, one daughter, Susanne R. (Robert) Hatfield of Pulaski, six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski, burial in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood. Calling hours will be held from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral.

Mrs. Livingston was born July 23, 1948 at Barre, VT the daughter of the late Phillip and the late Peggy Walters. Linda was a graduate of Arlington High School. Linda was a homemaker and care giver. She lived in Florida for over twenty years and lived locally most of her life. She enjoyed crafts and loved to ride motorcycles. She is survived by her previous husbands, Larry Roosa and Charlie Livingston both of Wallkill New York. 3092 Linda Thornton Brown, 52 of Bowling Green, Mo. and formerly of Pittsfield, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at her residence.
Linda was born in Pittsfield, July 13, 1958, a daughter to Elton ?Ed? and Eloise Pennock Edwards.
Linda was employed at the Women?s Eastern Regional Correctional Center in Vandalia, Mo. and had previously worked for six years at the Pike County Missouri Sheriff?s office as a 911 dispatcher. She enjoyed going to yard sales, antiquing, traveling, plays and musicals. She was a St. Louis Blues hockey fan and greatly enjoyed her family and friends.
Linda is survived by her mother, Eloise McDowell of Pittsfield; two sons, Scott Thornton (partner-Chris Youngblood) of Sesser; Jeffrey Brown of Ft. Carson, Colo. and currently serving in the U.S. Army in Afghanistan, a daughter, Shannon Branham (fiancé, Daniel Reynolds) of Farber, Mo. and three grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister survives; Stan (Susan) Barker of Baylis and Bob (Tina) Edwards of Detroit and Patricia (Bryan) Glenn of Mishiwaka, Ind. She was preceded in death by her father Ed, stepfather, Bernie McDowell and grandmother, Rita Pennock.
Services were held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 6, at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Rev. Ron Baker officiating. A visitation was held Monday evening at 4 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial of ashes will be at the Bethel Cemetery near Griggsville at a later date. 3093 Linden L. Armstrong, lifelong resident of Camden, NY, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by loving family on Thursday November 14, 2013 at the age of 85.
He was welcomed into Heaven to join his son, Ronald A. Lewis; and infant daughter, Debbie Lou Armstrong.
Lin leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Harriet (Kirby) Armstrong; his sister, Avis Douglas; his grandchildren, Jason Lewis, Neil and Sarrah Lewis, Keith and Crystal Lewis; his very special great grandchildren, Jeremy, Evan, Jillian, Rhyan and Autumn; his daughter-in-law, Betty Ann Lewis; also his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Lou Bird, Linda Furney, Reata Kirby and Demoin Kirby, Jr.; many special nieces and nephews and their families who have meant so much to him and have helped throughout the years; and so many special friends.
Lin was also predeceased by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Jennie Armstrong, Burl "Red" and Rita Armstrong, Hugh and Roena Armstrong; brothers-in-law, Walter Douglas, Donald Kirby, Randall Bird, Richard "Dick" Furney; and his sister-in-law, Donna Kirby.
Lindy was born in Camden on December 13, 1927, the son of Edward and Lottie (Hilliker) Armstrong.
When his father passed away at an early age, he began his lifelong endeavor of hard work to help provide for his family. The day Lin turned 16 he began work at General Cable in Rome, NY where he would walk three miles just to get his ride to and from work. He went on to work for the Racquet Factory and then at the Rochester Shoe-Tree for seven years which is where he met Harriet. They were married April 24, 1948. Lin continued on to work for Camden Wire for seventeen years, and then Harden Furniture, where he retired after twenty-seven and a half years.
In addition to work, he also raised beef cows and cared for them so much to call each one by name. Lin enjoyed many of life's simple pleasures too from watching his geese and ducks on the pond to his deer feeding in the back lot or crossing the top of the hill.
To Lin though, his family always came first. Lin was a 50+ year member of the Camden United Methodist Church, and was attending the Taberg United Methodist Church as well.
He was a member of the Camden Senior Citizens, Annsville Friendship Lodge, Williamstown Seniors, and the Ricard Grange #993.
Lin was the true meaning of a man: hard work, strong will, deep love, loaded guns.
Family, friends and neighbors are invited to visit at Nunn & Harper Funeral Home, Camden, NY, on Sunday November 17, 2013, from 1:00pm until 4:00pm, with his Funeral Service to begin at 4:00pm. A Memorial Luncheon will follow at the Taberg United Methodist Church.
Interment will be at a later date in Tioga Cemetery Owego, NY next to his son, Ron.

3094 Lionel George Shorter It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Lionel passed away peacefully at the Davidson Health Centre on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at the age of 81. Left to mourn his passing are his daughter, Lana, her husband, Terry and granddaughters, Rachel and Randi Johnsson; his son, Bob, his wife, Cindy, granddaughter, Lynnelle and grandson, Kyle Shorter; his brother, Claire (Marie) Shorter and family; brother-in-law, Arnold (Donna) Bair and family; nephew, Bill and Alice Kriston and family; also mourned by numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Lionel was born on March 20, 1925 on the farm at Macrorie, SK to George and Iva Shorter. Shortly after that the family moved to Meskanaw, SK. Lionel made his home at Meskanaw until the summer of 2004 when he moved to Davidson to live with his daughter and family due to health problems. Lionel married Lorraine Hourie on April 29, 1953. Lionel first worked as a ranch hand before he began his long career as a cat and grader operator working in the surrounding RM's. He also worked for Gary Taylor building roads and doing the work he loved and was good at. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and trapping, reading and visiting with relatives and friends. Many stories were told and retold, and words of advice were shared over several cups of strong coffee at Dad's place. Till memory fades and life departs, you'll live forever in our hearts. The celebration of his life will be held Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Meskanaw Community Hall with Rev. Father Chris Harper officiating. Interment will take place at the Meskanaw Cemetery next to Mom. Memorial donations may be made to the Meskanaw Community Cemetery Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society.
