3951 Paul Richard Banning, 82, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009. He was born in Los Angeles on July 23, 1926, to Claude Francis and Mary Alice Banning. He was an electrical lineman.
Paul was a beloved husband of 64 years, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was a member of Family Worship Center and Paul served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Bell Banning of Victoria; daughter, Beverly Ann Burnett of Austin; sons, James P. Banning of Houston, Gary B. Banning of Inez and Richard D. Banning of Fredericksburg; two sisters, one brother, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. at Grace Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at 9 a.m. at Grace Funeral Home with the Rev. C.E. Smith officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Dilley Cemetery in Dilley.
Pallbearers will be James P. Banning, Richard D. Banning, Gary B. Banning, Joshua Banning, Michael Banning and Gordon Burnett.

3952 Paul Richard Budney, 55, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, after a brave fight with pancreatic cancer, with his mother and father by his side. He was born August 17, 1961, to Richard and Dolores Budney. He attended Valley Regional High School in Deep River and Eastern Connecticut State College in Willimantic, and earned a degree in Business Administration. He was a district sales manager for Crown Uniforms and Linens in South Windsor and Milford. He was a lifetime athlete beginning with Tri-town Football and Little League baseball, continued through to high school, college and beyond. He participated in several fundraising golf tournaments. He also played basketball on the Wazy Classic Basketball Team and the Middlesex Over 40 Softball Team. He was a member of the Swede Club in Deep River. He leaves behind his parents; his sister, Diane Belval, and her husband, Stephen; his niece, Megan Giamei; his uncle, Vodge Budney, and his wife, Betty; his aunt, Lorraine Flanagan, and many cousins. He also leaves behind his girlfriend, Doreen Bartkowski, and her daughter, Ally. He had an abundance of loyal friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, in Centerbrook, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 24, 2017, at 10:30AM, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 14 Prospect Street, in Essex. Inurnment will follow in the Centerbrook Cemetery in Centerbrook. 3953 Paul was born in Sacramento County, California on December 28, 1944 to Irene and Richard Barton. After the War the Barton family moved to Portland, Oregon. Lived in Vanport, Oregon until the flood. The family moved and lived in the Rocky Butte area for many years. Paul graduated from Madison High School in 1963. After graduating from Portland Community College he was drafted into the Army at Fort Lewis. After a medical discharge he worked for Western Electric for several years. Hired at Techtronix in Beaverton, Oregon and worked there for nearly 20 years. After retiring in 2011 Paul and his beloved wife, Susan, moved to Arizona to enjoy the heat and many grandchildren.
His interests were varied from working on bicycles, musical instruments, metal & wood work, and Cars of course! Paul would tell stories of his first car to his most recent car from memory. Computers and hardware was a passion of his and he worked on CoCo Computers and Linux systems out of pure joy! He was part of a group of many who loved the CoCo Computers and regularly met online to discuss. Keeping his mind and hands busy was very important to him and always challenged himself to learn something new.
Paul and Sue married in 1987 and raised six children together. They were together always and would have celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary this December. Paul is survived by his loving wife Susan Ardell (Correll) Barton and six children, by blood are Rachael Anne, Heather Rae, Annette Marie and Caleb Dan, by marriage Shawna Marie and Angela Ruth. Sisters Marie Anita, Kane Taylor and brother Christopher John.
Memorial was held September 17, 2021 at Paul and Sue's Church, Broadway Christian Church in Mesa, AZ. Sister Kane Taylor of Portland, Or and brother Christoper John of Trenton, NJ were in attendance at Memorial along with other family and dear friends.

3954 Pauline (Peterson) Sobolewski, 71, of Alden's Crossing, East Hampton, beloved wife of Stanley E. Sobolewski died peacefully Friday (December 6, 2002) at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown in the company of her family. She was born in East Hampton, Nov. 10, 1931, daughter of the late John and Jennie (Banning) Peterson, and had lived in East Hampton all her life. Pauline enjoyed the challenge of doing crossword puzzles. She loved flowers and gardening. Besides her husband she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Dianne Sobolewski of Cobalt; three brothers, John A. Peterson, Terrence "Terry" Peterson, and James R. Peterson, all of East Hampton; her grandchildren, Craig, Jaclyn and Jennie Sobolewski. Also, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, Middle Haddam with the Rev. Mark Given, officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, East Hampton. 3973 Peacefully the life of Dr. Horace Wardner went forth to the unknown Friday afternoon. In his loss Laporte and the county at large loses a useful and honored life, which had defied the grim reaper through a long and active career devoted to his fellow man. He was a man of unusual marked ability and quiet worth. Dr. Wardner was married in 1858 to Miss Louise Rockwood of Sheboggan, Wis. He went out in 1861 as surgeon of the 12th Illinois, and the same year was promoted to brigade surgeon; succeeded to the charge of the general hospital at Mound City, Ill., and in 1863 became medical director on Gen. Grant's staff. He founded the St. Mary's infirmary at Cairo, Ill., and was president and a member of the Illinois board of health for many years. Officiated as superindent of the Southern Illinois insane asylum at Anne, and was recognized as an authority on the subject of insanity. In 1890 Dr. Wardner established the Interlaken Sanitorium at Laporte, with which he was more or less closely connected until his death. He was of German descent and New England ancestral stock, sturdy and honest. He also founded a school at Geneva, Wis., and held the degree of A.M. from Alfred academy, N.Y., and M.D. from Rush Medical college, Chicago, and was demonstrator of anatomy in what is now Chicago Medical College. His wife, the sharer of his long years of brilliant service, survives him.

3974 Peacefully, on Saturday, October 15, 2016, Audrey Ellen Silvius passed away in Brandon at the age of 92 years. Born in Elgin, Manitoba to Percy and Pearl Honeyman, Audrey spent her childhood in Fairfax on the family farm.
She trained as a nurse at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg and then later as a psychiatric nurse at Brandon Mental Hospital. In 1950, Audrey married Merritt Silvius and together they built their home on the North Hill and raised their family of four children. Audrey's life was one of service - as a nurse, mother and community activist. Her nursing career included working at the Brandon Mental Hospital, Brandon General Hospital, Fairview Home and as a Public Health Nurse. She, along with other women in Brandon, was instrumental in reaching out to the native community and worked to establish The Brandon Native & Metis Friendship Centre in the early 1960s. Audrey's commitment to social justice led to the establishment of The Marquis Project and Tools for Peace in Brandon. She also served as a founding member of Westman Communications. Audrey's health forced her to give up her activism in later years although she kept ahead of current affairs.
Audrey will be lovingly remembered by her sons Dave (Deb) and Kay; daughters Lorna (Glenn) and Gail; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister Isabel and brother Norman. She was predeceased by her husband Merritt in 1978, and her sisters Georgina and Marian.
A Celebration of Audrey's Life took place at Memories Chapel on Friday, October 21st, 2016. Donations in memory of Audrey may be made to Doctors Without Borders.

3977 PEARCE, Kaila Elizabeth Bernice - Kaila Pearce passed away Saturday, October 12, 2002 in a tragic accident in Chisholme Township. She was the beloved daughter of Cindy Blackmore - Pearce and Danny Pearce of Astorville, granddaughter of Judy Van Duzen and Bill Stewart of Powassan, Marian and Edgar Pearce of Astorville, Don and Iva Wilson of Corbeil, and great-granddaughter of Bernice Swears of Brantford. Kaila was the dear sister of Cheyenne Pearce and Ashton Bale, and niece of James, Jeff Wendy, Connie Mark and Jullia Pearce, Rod Cheryl and Jeff Sharleen Blackmore. She will be sadly missed by her many cousins, great uncles and aunts. Peggy passed away in an Arizonian Hospice facility in Tucson surrounded with friends and her partner of over 15 years, Maureen Caffery. Peggy had traveled the world with a job she loved as a technical engineer. Peggy is survived by her father, Stewart F. Lee; her sister, Deborah Lee Landers (John Landers); a niece, Shannon Landers; a nephew, John T. Landers; and a great-niece, Isabel Lee Landers. Passed away May 28, 2003, at his residence with his family by his side after a long, hard battle with brain cancer. Jerry was born in Kalamazoo on January 1, 1937, the son of Howard and Margaret (Harrington) Pennock. Jerry was retired in 1994 from Ameritech with over thirty seven years of service. He enjoyed his retirement working in his yard and garden and traveling to Arizona and Alabama in the winters. He was devoted to his family, cherished his grandchildren Travis and Kristin Pennock, following all their activities and watching cartoons with Travis. On August 2, 1957 he married Sonja "Toni" Hixon, who survives, other members of his family include: a daughter Cindy (jon) Swagler of Augusta, sons: Kevin (Tori) Pennock of Hickory Corners, Craig (Tami) Pennock of Allegan, sisters: Joyce (Don) Rapson of Arizona, Janey McKay of Kalamazoo, Jean (David) Richard of New Hampshire, 2 grandchildren, 4 step grand daughters and 3 step great grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and special aunt and uncle Joyce and Marvin Harrington of Delton. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and brothers in law Roger McKay and Peter Hixon. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A private family graveside service will be conducted at East Hickory Corners Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Barry Community Hospice will be appreciated.

Kim was born in Rome, N.Y., the daughter of Helen Dashnaw and the late Ralph Perham. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her son, Robert (Latanya) Linen; grand-daughter, Zoe J. Linen; sisters, Sue Palmer, Tracey (Larry) Reed Sr., Bonnie Perham and Tammy (Bob) Perham; brothers, Ralph, Rex, Pat and Phillip Perham; a host of nieces, nephews; and friends. Kim's daughter passed away four years ago, a victim of a violent crime, leaving Kim with a broken heart. May they both rest in peace.
