1169 Cumberland- Dale passed away from the effects of lung cancer on the evening of Tuesday, April 16, at his home.
Born on May 1st, 1950, Dale grew up in California and New York State. He graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse University. It was there that he met his future wife, Diane Dahlke. They lived in Freeville, NY while Dale attended Cornell Law School, from which he received his Juris Doctorate degree.
After Law School they moved to Connecticut where Dale worked in a private law firm and then at Cigna.
While vacationing in Maine, Dale decided that this was the place he truly wanted to live and work. He applied to UNUM in Portland where he became a Vice President and Associate General Counsel. Later he worked at SPX Communications Technology in Raymond, Maine, as Director of Contracts. From 2002-2006 he was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Maine. Eventually he became Director of the Office of Family Independence for the Maine Department of Human Services.
When Dale retired in 2013 he found his passion for politics. Twice he won the Maine House seat for District 45. He was active in the Cumberland community throughout his residence there serving on the MSAD 51 School Board, the town Aging in Place Committee, the Cumberland Democratic Committee, and was a member of the Lions Club. During his retirement he was also an Adjunct Professor of Business Law at St. Joseph?s College in Standish, ME and volunteered as an English teacher at Learning Works in Portland. Throughout his life he loved learning new things, particularly keeping up with the French language. His ability to retain all sorts of knowledge was displayed when he appeared on the television show, ?Jeopardy?.
Besides his wife, Diane Dahlke, Dale leaves behind his son, Jesse Denno of New York City, his son Evan Denno of Augusta, Maine, Evan?s wife Kunsang Dolma and their two children, Tenzin Yangchen and Tenzin Yangzom. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael, but is survived by his sisters Judy Burr and her husband Tom; Nancy Denault-Weiss and her husband, Joe; brothers Wayne; Adrian ?Bud? and his wife Lani; Jeff and his wife, Betty; Jerry Brown Denno and his wife Beverly and a sister-in-law, Terry Denno.
One always knew when Dale was in the room. He had an infectious laugh, a commanding voice and an outgoing personality. His intellect was sharp and his wit legendary.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30, on Saturday, April 27th, at The Cumberland Congregational Church. Following the service there will be a reception in the church Parish Hall.

1170 CURRIE, Alice Margaret died peacefully at the Versa Care Nursing Home in St. Catharines on Wednesday February 11, 2004, in her 76th year. Beloved wife of the late Ernest Currie, Alice was a devoted mother and will be sadly missed by her children: Russell (Shari), Wayne (Valerie) and her very special daughter Sandra, her grandchildren: Darlene, Russell Jr., Kelsey, Scott and her brother John Rourke. As per Alice's request, no service was held and cremation has taken place. Survived by his loving wife, Gladys (nee; Watt), Father of David (Kelly), Debbie Shkwarek, (Chris), Steven (Sharon), Rodney (Sally) and Cheryl Thompson (Peter) and Grandchildren; Travis, Dan, John, Jake, Emily, Kristan and Cole. Brother of Carmel Ohlke. Predeceased by his brothers; John, Merrill and Stewart and sisters; Lois Arthur and Venita Arthur.

1173 Curtine E. (Pratt) Swanson, 90, of Old Lyme died suddenly at her home on Saturday, (March 21, 2009). Beloved wife of the late John E. Swanson. Born in Essex she was the daughter of the late Elliott P. and Elsie M. (Hayden) Pratt. Curtine worked for the Dept. of Motor Vehicles in Old Saybrook for 10 years, served as a volunteer fro the Hospice of South Eastern CT., was a member of the Old Lyme Congregational Church and the Elks Club in Westbrook. Curtine was known as "Auntie" to many. She is survived by her children; John and his wife Helene Swanson of San Mateo, CA, Norman and his wife Sandra of Old Saybrook and Linda J. Sundwall of W. Hartford, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and her niece Jill Hotkowski of Old Lyme. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Old Lyme Congregational Church. Interment was held at Duck River Cemetery. 1175 Curtis, James W. "Jim" Age 87 of New Port Richey, FL (formerly Brooklyn Center, MN) died peacefully at home April 16, 2009. Preceded in death by wife, LaVerne. Survived by second wife, Beatrice; children, Cheryl O'Konek (Joe), Nancy Curtis Hayes (John), and Michael Curtis (Sharon); five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. 1176 CURTIS, MI - Longtime Curtis, MI resident, Elsie May Metcalf, age 85, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2006 at the Helen Newberry Joy Annex in Newberry, MI.
She was born January 30, 1921 in Melstrand, MI the daughter of the late Robert and Ethel Smith and attended school there. She later graduated from Tahquamenon Area Schools.
In April of 1937, she married Robert W. Metcalf and they made their home in Curtis. He preceded her in death on December 3, 1971.
In addition to being a homemaker, Elsie was employed as a baker and also as a cook for the Curtis/Lakefield Senior Citizens Center for many years.
She was a member of the Curtis Free Methodist Church.
Survivors include; Lorraine Metcalf of Curtis, Glen (Linda) Metcalf of Engadine, Dale Metcalf of Germfask, Carolyn (Harry) Burton of Germfask, Phyllis Fahler of Newberry, Connie (Butch) Ward of Ortonville, Derryl Metcalf of Ortonville, Marilyn (Steve) Zellar of Germfask, Cindy Metcalf of Curtis, Sherry (Norm) Burton of Curtis, forty grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Elsie was preceded in death by her sons, George Earl Metcalf, John Winslow Metcalf and Jerry Steven Metcalf; and a great granddaughter, Keisa Metcalf.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm, Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm, at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Oberle officiating.

1177 CUSHING - Maurice B. Young, 64, died following an extended illness, Thursday, April 2, 2009 at his home.
Born July 7, 1944 in Rockland, he was the son of Bernard and Gracie Proctor Young. Maurice was educated in Thomaston Schools.
As a young man Maurice completed his apprenticeship to become a pipe fitter and welder. This apprenticeship took him to Austin, Texas.
On July 8, 1970 he married Patricia L. Moreash in Shreveport, Louisiana. Throughout the years Maurice's job took the family to many different U.S. States. These moves fostered a love of traveling that Maurice continued throughout his life.
The family eventually settled in Cushing. His family remembers Maurice always felt his heart was in Maine. While in Cushing he continued to operate his long distance trucking company that he started while in Carolina. Maurice drove truck for nearly 20 years.
Maurice took great pleasure and pride in restoring antique automobiles. He was a member of "Mainly Street Rods" a local street car club that enjoyed gathering to show off their cars and cruise together.
He enjoyed playing the guitar and jamming with family and friends. Maurice also held his Master Gunsmith's License and often dabbled in repairing and restoring guns.
His family remembers he had a vast array of knowledge and found great enjoyment in learning new trades.
One of Maurice's greatest loves was spending time with his grandchildren. They were the love of his life.
Predeceased by his parents, and two sisters, Jean Chapman, and Joan Cox; Maurice is survived by his wife of 46 years Patricia Young of Cushing; his sons, Robert S. Young, Maurice D. Young and his partner, Theresa Lovejoy, all of Cushing; his daughter Shirley Allen and her husband, Roy of Rockland; grandsons, Joseph Ray of Sumter, South Carolina, Cole Allen, Connor Allen both of Rockland, Thomas Young of Cushing; brothers, Oram Young of Brunswick, Isaac Young of Cushing; and two sister, Vickie Young of Cushing and Claire Wallace and her husband Francis of Jonesboro.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2009 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2009. The Reverend Elizabeth Bilodeau will officiate. Private interment will be held in the spring.

1178 Cushing, Maine - Gladys E. "Dutchie" Mitchell, 74, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at the Sussman House in Rockport.
Born in New London, Feb. 2, 1943, she was one of 13 children of Fred and Ruth (Politti) Moreash. She attended schools in the New London area.
May 23, 1988, she married Stephen Mitchell in Stonington. A very sociable person, Dutchie loved to be in the sun and at the beach, spending time with her grandchildren. She was very talented, loved art, drawing and painting. More recently she also enjoyed doing puzzles.
Other than her parents, Dutchie was predeceased by three siblings, Eddie Moreash, Fred Moreash and Patricia Young.
Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, at Elm Grove Cemetery, 197 Greenmanville Ave., Mystic.

1179 Cyril Hector Joseph Liberty (Ladouceur) quietly and peacefully passed away in his sleep at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the age of 101 years, just 3 months shy of his 102nd birthday.
Born February 17, 1922, at Fort Colounge, Quebec to parents Hector Magdelaine dit Ladouceur and Anna Lina Jolicoeur. Survived by his wife of 81 years, Elda Liberty (Byers), daughter of Duncan George Byers and Margaret Watson Hamilton, Daughters Gail Andrews (Dennis), Elaine Hastie (Ken-Deceased), son Richard Liberty (Yvonne Charland). Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by brothers Telesphore (Tel), Donat (Don) and sister Annie. Also, by his half brothers Emile and Ted LaLiberte and half-sister Imilda Gervais (Joseph).
Dad was a strong hard worker starting in his early teens working for Northern Dairy, shovelling coal for Saya Fuels, chopping wood at Sand Dam and a number of other work sites before a long stretch with Bannon Brother Furniture and then retiring after 25 years with Borden Chemicals as a Supervisor and Stationary Engineer. Dad and mom spent retirement fishing for small bass and speckled trout in their Sportspal canoe, many summers picking blueberries. Dad enjoyed working on his daughter?s farm tending the animals and taking long walks with pal Blue by his side. As children we had a Sunday drive down the Wasi road to Grampa and Grandma Byers on Lighthouse Road, swam & picnicked at Kervin?s beach, returning home with a stop for a 25-cent ice-cream cone at George Aero?s Gas Station, Wasi corners.
Our Dad was a quiet man of strong character and certainly compliments the name of his forefathers. His dedication and honesty to family through hard times and hard work are appealing attributes and hopefully will be passed on for generations to come. Special thanks to Dr. Garcia and the staff of 3C, at the North Bay Regional Health Care Centre. Their care was exceptional for Dad whom they affectionately called ?Grampa?, Thank you.
The family will be receiving visitors at McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Saturday, December 2, 2023, between the hours of 11 am to 1 pm. A celebration of life will follow at 1 pm in the McGuinty Funeral Home Chapel (North Bay). Interment of cremated remains will occur in the spring at St. Mary?s cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice or the Alzheimer Society would be gratefully acknowledged by our family.

1182 D.R. "Speck" Clinkenbeard, age 88 of Oklahoma City passed away Thur. Feb. 2, 2006 from a sudden illness. He was born May 9, 1917 in Norman, Oklahoma to Martin & Bertha Clinkenbeard. Speck is survived by his wife Lorene Clinkenbeard, 1 sister Norda Waddle, 2 sons Ronnie & wife Mary, Vernon & wife Marilyn, brother-in-law George Gardner, 2 step daughters: Marieta & husband John Thorp and Bonnie & husband Mike Billotte. "Special cousin" Dorothy Claxton, 4 grandchildren: Megan, Molly, Jamie, and Shelley, 2 great grandchildren: Bridget and Austin, 4 step grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren. And host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Speck was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 1 step grandchild. 1183 Dale F. Bramble, 75, died Monday, March 28, 2011. He was the beloved husband for 56 years of Lucille (Piacitelli) Bramble.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Edward and Ruth (Randall) Bramble. He was a U.S. Postal worker for 27 years retiring in 1992 and served as president of the American Postal Workers Union for many years. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
He is also survived by five daughters, Brenda Ciccarelli and husband, Eric, Marilyn McAllister and husband, James, Cynthia Pastore and husband, Michael, Dale Calcione and husband Anthony and Lori Caprara and husband, James. He was the grandfather of Anthony Calcione and his wife, Nicole, Casandra Calcione, James and Patrick McAllister, Jamie and Michael Pastore, Taylor and Paige Caprara; and brother of Burt Bramble, Clifford Bramble, Barbara Wik and the late Robert Bramble and Beverly Lawton.
His funeral was held April 1 from Tucker-Quinn Funeral Chapel 643 Putnam Ave., Greenville, with a Funeral Mass at in St Bartholomew Church, 305 Laurel Hill Ave., Providence. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Pawtucket.

1184 Dale McClure, 79, of Central Square, passed away on Monday. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 59 years, Dottie; his loving children, Judy Bjorck, Joe McClure, and Jackie Vecchio; his daughter-in-law, Natalie McClure, whom he loved like a daughter; son-in-law, Sal Vecchio; his grandson, Jordan Vecchio; two brothers; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

1185 Dale N. Mullen, 87, of Inverness, Florida, died June 4, 2014, at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast in Inverness. Dale was born April 18, 1927, in Lebanon, Kansas, the son of Harold and Dorothy Mullen. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. Dale was a HVAC technician for the Nassau Community College. He moved to Inverness in 1986 from Hempstead, New York.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Mullen of Inverness; daughter, Susan Stoughton and her husband Michael of Washington, Connecticut; brother, Donald and his wife Juanita of Lebanon, Kansas; two grandchildren, Erick Larson and his wife Priscilla of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Sarah Beth A. Larson of Sherman, Connecticut; and six great-grandchildren, Zachary, Gunnar, Finnegan, Rhys, Anders, and Axel.
