Evelyn C. Maynard, 83, of Great Hillwood Rd., Moodus, died Tuesday, (Sept 4, 2001) at Chestelm Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Moodus. She was the beloved wife of the late, Kenneth Maynard. She was born in Moodus, on July 27, 1918, daughter of the late Matthew and Nora (Bride) Cashman. Mrs. Maynard was a life long resident of Moodus and a graduate of Nathan Hale High School class of 1936.
She was employed at the Moodus Post Office retiring after 20 years as the Postmaster. She was a director of the East Haddam Public Library and a member of the St. Bridget's Ladies Guild.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Maynard of East Hartford, and Kevin Maynard of Moodus; a brother, Matthew Cashman of Moodus; and two sisters, Rita Marcolini of Old Saybrook, and Nora (Theresa) Conley of Haddonfield, NJ. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and a sister-in law, Caroline Cashman of Moodus. Mrs. Maynard is pre deceased by a brother, Vincent Cashman.
A funeral procession will leave at The Swan Funeral Home, 27 WF Palmer Road, Moodus, Saturday, Sept 8, at 9:45am for a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bridget's Church of Kildare in Moodus. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. Burial will be at St. Bridget's Cemetery in Moodus. Everett Allen LeMaster, the son of Eldin Raleigh and Nina Edith (Bailey) LeMaster, was born on December 8, 1918 in Royal IA. He grew up in the Royal area where he received his early education graduating from Royal High School at the age of 16 as class Valedictorian.
On January 20, 1942, Everett married Frances Prentice in Trenton, MO. Following their marriage, they lived on the family farm near Royal, until retiring to Spencer in 1994. Everett was a member of the ASC for 25 years, serving on the board for 9 years, the Odd Fellows Lodge and Golden Kiwanis. He also was the township assessor in Royal for 2 years. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing cards and bowling with teams from Royal for over 40 years. He was an avid reader and liked to recite poetry, but most of all he loved to spend time with family, relatives, friends and his pets.
Everett passed away on November 17, 2010, at the Longhouse Residence at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Olive Shepley, Ruby Danielson and Rosa Warren.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Frances of Spencer; his daughter, Joanne Anderson and her husband, James Davis of Plymouth, MN; three grandchildren: Timothy Anderson (Cindy), Kari Shideman (Charles) and Corey Anderson (Janelle); six great grandchildren; one sister, Edith Traw of St. Louis, MO; other relatives and friends.

Everett E. Wright, Jr., 87, of East Hampton passed away Monday, June 22nd at Hartford Hospital. Born on January 27, 1928 in Meriden, CT, he was the son of the late Everett E. Wright and Ethyl (Nichols) Royce. Everett grew up in East Hampton having moved there in 1929 and was a graduate of Vinyl Technical School in Middletown. Everett proudly served his country in the United States Army during both WWII and the Korean War. He worked for 20 years as a welder at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Middletown retiring in 1986. Everett was very active in the town of East Hampton having served as a volunteer fireman, a life member of the East Hampton American Legion, a life member of the Fowler-Dix-Park Post #5095 East Hampton, a life member of the Chatham Historical Society, a life member of the WWII Tribute To a Generation, and a life member of the United States Constabulary Association. Everett was very proud of his efforts to have a War Memorial erected in front of East Hampton High School. Everett is survived by his three sons, David A. Wright of Hartford, Scott E. Wright of Portland, and Shawn E. Wright of East Hampton, his three brothers, Jack Wright of FL, Paul Royce of East Hampton, and Benjamin Wright of ME, his three grandchildren Shawn Vare, Jr., Melinda Ketchum, and Kyle Wright, his four great grandchildren, Christian, Josh, Alaina, Tavin, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Alfred Royce, Jr. and Richard Wright. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, June 28th at 11:00 am at Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main Street, East Hampton, CT 06424. Everett William Banning Jr., 32, husband of Janis Chadbourne Banning of Hickory Lane, Ivoryton, died Sunday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, New London, after a head-on crash on Route 1 in Old Saybrook, late Saturday.
He was born in Ivoryton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett W. Banning of Ivoryton, and he lived there all his life. He was employed by Bailey Metallurgical Company of Centerbrook for the past seven years and was formerly with Schellens and True Company of Ivoryton. He was a member of the Ivoryton Congregational Church, the Essex Fire Department and of BPOE No. 1784 of Westbrook.
Besides his wife and parents he leaves a son, Everett William Banning III, at home, a daughter, Linda M. Banning, at home; a sister, Mrs. Richard Budney of Ivoryton; two nieces and four nephews. She was the daughter of the late Henry Pearson and the late Celina Smith, Lucien Ouellette late wife. She is survived by her children: Jeannette (Keith Coulter), Yvette (Ernest Leclair), Leigh (Diane) and Paul (Kerry); several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and good friend (s). Oswego with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. Pam was a second-grade school teacher with Hannibal Central Schools where she retired in 1979. She was a communicant of St. Jude's Chapel, Fair Haven. Pam was a charter member of the American Legion Prior Stock Post #1552 Auxiliary, charter member of the Hannibal Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, New York State Retired Teachers Association, T.O.P.S., and the Sterling Senior Citizens. She was a former member of Shirts and Skirts. Pam was predeceased by her first husband, Lyle McGlen, who died in 1987. She is survived by her husband, Charles H. Burgdorf of Fair Haven; two daughters, Dr. Nancy (Joseph Gadawski) McGlen of Grand Island and Mary (Bernie) Dominick of Minetto; one son, Fred McGlen of Oswego; cousin Dorothy Williams of Fulton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fern D. Paulson, age 94, of Britt, died Saturday, November 17, 2007, at the Westview Care Center in Britt. Fern was born October 20, 1913, near Kanawha, the daughter of Clarence and Lorena (Wagner) Smith. She graduated from Britt High School in 1930 and Britt Junior College. Fern was a teacher in the rural schools in Hancock County. She was united in marriage to John Floyd Paulson on June 4, 1935. They were married for 55 years and spent their entire married life farming in the Britt and Wesley areas before retiring in 1973.
Fern was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Wesley and served as the pianist and organist for 50 years. Music was an integral part of her life and in addition to being the church organist, she enjoyed participating in musical and social events.
Fern was a 75 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and also a member of the Charity Rebekah Lodge of Britt. She was active in many church, community and neighborhood organizations over the years, including Farm Bureau Women and 4-H. She greatly enjoyed her immediate family, relatives and friends.
Fern is survived by two daughters, Janice and David Tegtmeyer of Mesa, Arizona; Joyce and Robert Dohse of Madison, Wisconsin; two grandchildren, Shari and Ed McKnew of Traverse City, Michigan, Dan and Natalie Tegtmeyer of Chandler, Arizona; four great-grandchildren, Tanner, Taylor and Riley Tegtmeyer and Anthony Rinehart and many close cousins.
Fern was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1990; her parents and a brother, Calvin.

FITCHBURG -- Harriet E. (Todd) Matson, 83, of 260 Williams Road, formerly of 19 Elm St., West Townsend, died Saturday morning at her residence after an illness.
Mrs. Matson was born in Manchester, N.H., a daughter of George and Emma (Bancroft) Todd and grew up in Nahant.
She graduated from Lynn Classical High School, Lynn, continued on to Cushing Academy, Ashburnham, and in 1945 graduated from the Burbank Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. Matson performed her nurses training at a convalescent home in Wellesley Hills before returning to Burbank Hospital. She worked there for 10 years in the nursery for premature infants. Later, she worked 10 years as the school nurse in the Town of Ashby School District.
Mrs. Matson was a member of the Elm Street Congregational Church in Fitchburg and was a member of its choir. She also sang 17 years with Townsend?s Golden Smoothies vocal group. She also enjoyed gardening, needlepoint and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was the wife of Torsti O. Matson, who died May 25, 1984.
She is survived by six sons, Stephen T. Matson and Peter A. Matson, both of Townsend, David A. Matson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Enoch W. Matson and Timothy L. Matson, both of Fitchburg, and Jonathan W. Matson of Lakewood, Calif.; a daughter, Susan T. Tait of Leominster; a brother, Arthur J. Passed away peacefully, at her home, on Friday, July 24th, 1998, in her 93rd year. Loving wife of Robert Douglas Fleck (d.1992). Mother of James Douglas, Paul Duncan (d.1992), Robert Iain and John Alexander, mother-in-law to Margaret, Polly, Shelagh and Letty. Grandmother of Robert James, Ellen, David, Christopher, Christopher, Conor, Paula and Beatrice; great-grandmother of Jamie, Erin, Seymore, Quinn, Devon and Natalie. Born in Gore Bay, Manitoulin Island on May 16, 1906. Norma is survived by one brother, Grant Byrnes. Florence Carmel Fuller, age 97, of Flagler, Colorado passed away on April 5, 2010 at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home in Hugo, CO.
Florence was born on August 6, 1912 in Nashville, Kansas to parents William David and Jennie Irene (Louthan) Peters. Florence was delivered by an area neighbor, serving as a midwife. The family, including Florence and her older sister Fae, made their home in Nashville where the family farmed and ranched.
In November of 1914, the family moved to Campo, Colorado by Conestoga Wagons drawn by horses. They made their home in a half-dugout with a dirt floor and jip plastered walls. Florence’s younger two sisters, Sadie and Mable, were born in their home at Campo. At the age of 5, Florence and older sister Fae attended Blue Mound School District 43, which her father helped build. The two girls walked 2 ½ miles to school each day and their father served on the school’s first school board. When Florence was in 4th grade, a new school was built, Blue Mound District 61, just a mile from her home.
On May 23, 1925, Florence graduated from the 8th grade at Blue Mound and went on to attend Campo High School for the following 3 ½ years. The last half of her senior year was spent at Springfield High School, where she and her sister graduated on May 24, 1929. Growing up, Florence also attended the Baptist Church in Campo where she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She and her sister Fae were baptized by Reverend Baker in 1927.
During her childhood, Florence’s family raised corn, maize and broomcorn. Campo, Colorado, in Baca County, was known as the “Broomcorn Center of the World”. Florence and her sister Fae traded work with their neighbors, cutting broomcorn in the field’s right alongside the men.
In the summer of 1929, Florence and her sister Fae went to Greeley to attend summer school. Florence received a Second Grade Teacher’s Certificate on January 13, 1931. Later that same year, she accepted her first teaching position at Bear School, District 60, and continued teaching in one room schools near Campo for 11 years following.
While attending a teacher’s convention in Pueblo, CO, Florence married Eddie Fuller on November 8, 1934. Eddie was also from the Campo area and the two families had known each other for many years. Following their wedding, Florence continued teaching and Eddie managed the Save-U-Market they owned. The family grew to include children; Bonnie, Pattie, Estel, William and Sally. They made their home near Vilas and raised broomcorn for several years before moving to a farm east of Flagler in 1948, and Sally was born in the Flagler Hospital. The couple had another son, Dallas, but unfortunately he was stillborn.
Throughout the years, the family was involved in 4-H, as well as all of the activities and chores surrounding the farm. Florence worked hand in hand with Eddie for many years. The family belonged to the Flagler Baptist Church where they attended regularly. Florence loved the Lord and all of the ladies activities at the church, such as quilting, ABW and attending Eastern Association Meetings with her friends.
Eddie and Florence celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in November 1984. Eddie went home to be with the Lord on April 2, 1988. Florence lived on their farm east of Flagler until entering the Lincoln Community Nursing home in August of 2005.
Florence will be remembered for her caramel pie, a recipe passed down from her mother. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, canning and preserving, and quilting. She was also a 4-H leader, a member of the Kit Carson County Republican Women’s Organization, Flagler Women’s Club, a Charter Member of the Gingham Girls Home Demonstration Club, Kit Carson County Farm Bureau Member, Kit Carson County Cattlewomen’s Association, and she sat on the Election Board for many years.
Florence is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son, one sister and several sister and brother in laws.
Florence is survived by her two sons, Estel (Sherry) Fuller of Fort Collins, CO and William (Janice) Fuller of Larkspur, CO, and three daughters, Bonnie Bryant of Greeley, CO, Pattie (Dan) Jackson of Gardnerville, NV and Sally (Mike) Santala of Flagler, CO. She is also survived by her sisters Sadie Lowder of Loveland, CO and Mable (Bob) Eden of Colorado City, CO, as well as 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. | Peters, Florence Carmel (I3999)

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 8, for Harry Edward Kier of Florence a retired letter carrier and an army veteran of World War I.
He died Sunday in a Florence nursing home after two months serious illness, at the age of 74 years.
He was born Mar. 17, 1896 in Morrison, Ill., and had lived in Florence the past 50 years, coming here from Clinton, Ia.
He and Minnie Reese were married Jun 22, 1920 in Marshaltown, Ia. They observed their 50th wedding anniversary just recently.
Kier was a city route letter carrier in Florence for 35 years, retiring in 1951. He was a member of the Florence United Methodist church and Miller-Kitto Post N. 25, American Legion.
Services were held from the Florence Mortuary Chapel at 10 a.m., with Rev. Wesley Steinmetz officiating. Mrs. Dom Del Duca played appropriate organ selections including "The End of a Perfect Day."
Pallbearers were Sam Eldridge, Ed Westwater, Lester Peele, Glenn Smith, Jack McFall and Leonis Renfrow.
In addition to his widow, Minnie Reese Kier, he is survived by two daughters, Vivian Howell of Adak, Alaska and Mrs. Roberta Hill of Loveland, Colo., and one son, Hale V. Kier, of East Lake, Colo. Nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.
Burial was in Union Highland cemetery wit the American Legion color and honor guard, Fort Carson assisted with the firing squad and bugler for the military service. | Kier, Harry Edward (I17672)

Florence E. (Bramble) Ferry 80, died Friday June 13, 1997 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Alfred V. "Sam" Ferry.
Born in Poquetanuck Connecticut, the daughter of the late Burton and Mary (Horgan) Bramble, she had lived in Assonet most of her life.
Before her retirement, she worked as a waitress at the former Rhinehagens Lunch Center.
She was a member of the Freetown Senior Citizens Club and the Berkley Happy Hearts Seniors Club.
Mrs. Ferry is survived by a son, and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 10 AM from the Manuel Rogers and Sons Funerl Home, 1521 North Main Street Fall River.

Florence E. ?Betty? Finney, 88 passed away July 6, 2015 at Home with her family at her side.
Betty was born October 25, 1926 in Homer, the daughter of the late William and Florence Connors Shanahan.
Betty was a communicant of St. Mary?s church, and had been employed as a nurse a Cortland Regional Medical Center.
Her memberships included the Cortland County Retired Nurse?s Association, the Prayer group at St. Mary?s Church.
Betty was a dedicated and loyal SU fan.
Betty is survived by her children Michael (Cathy) Finney of Tenn., Patrick Finney of Cortland, Mark Finney of Cortland, and Marilyn Finney of Cortland. Her grandchildren Shannon (Joey) Donnelly, Michelle Sparkman, Lauren (Richard) Hartman, Brad Finney, Nicholas (Liz) Nowalk, her great grandchildren Liz, Bo, Eva and Lea Donnelly, Brian , Anna Cate ,Mary Connor, Lyla James , Angelina Amezcuca, and Sydney Nowalk .
Betty is also survived by her sister Helen (Don) Broton of Syracuse, brother in law Rodney Knight, sister in law Barbara Shanahan, her adopted son Pearl (Debra) Washington, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Betty was predeceased by her husband John, brother William Shanahan, sisters Mary Kelley, Kathleen Corbett, brother in laws Bob Kelley, and John Corbett, and grandson Brian Finney.
A prayer service will be held 12:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm at St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church in Cortland, with Fr. Joseph Zareski officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary?s Cemetery.

Florence Evelyn (Miner) Kirk, 90, formerly of Wilbraham Road in Hampden and a former town official, died Wednesday at a local nursing home. She served on the Hampden Parks and Recreation Department and on the town's Housing Authority for 10 years. She also chaired the Housing Authority. She also was treasurer of the Hampden Republican Town Committee and the Hampden Garden Club and belonged to the Hampden Historical Society and the Lions Club Auxiliary.
She worked at the former Brooks Bank Note Co. and was later the statement department manager for 28 years at the former Bank of New England (previously Third National Bank). She retired in 1972.
Born in Essex, Conn., she lived in Springfield for 31 years and moved to Hampden in 1951. She lived on Wilbraham Road before moving to Charlton in 1994.
She was a 1927 graduate of the High School of Commerce in Springfield, where she was president of the freshman class. She attended Wesley Methodist Church in Springfield and Hampden Federated Community Church, where she was a deaconess and member of the YOLA Guild and the Ladies Aid Society.
Her husband, Frank J.T. Kirk, died in 1998. A son, James E., died in 1986; and a son, Frank C., died in 1981. She leaves two sons, Albert E. of Wilbraham and Robert E. of Brimfield; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday morning at Byron's Allen Street Funeral Home of Springfield. Calling hours are Friday afternoon and evening.

Florence Jackson Prindle was born on Sunday, October 1, 1922, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Joel Frederick and Lucille Harrison Jackson. She was baptized at the Linden Hills Congregational Church in Minneapolis and confirmed her faith at the same altar. After graduating from West High School in Minneapolis with the Class of 1940, she continued her formal education at the University of Minnesota.
On April 25, 1942, Florence was united in marriage to William Day Prindle, Jr. and their union was blessed with five children. Shortly after their marriage, Bill graduated from law school and went into the United States Army. After his release from active duty, Florence and Bill moved to Olivia, Minnesota, where Bill commenced his law career. Two years later, they moved to Montevideo where they raised their family. In 1986, the couple retired to Deuel County, South Dakota. While in South Dakota, they formed Deuel Enterprises, Inc, a family bible publishing company which produced two updatings of the Authorized (King James) Version of 1611: The 21st Century King James Version (1994) and The Third Millennium Bible (1998).
Florence always placed her family first and foremost over anything else she did. In addition to her devotion to them, she was active in Alpha Chi Omega, Eastern Star P.E.O., Girl Scouts, AFS, American Red Cross and served on the board of directors of First National Bank in Montevideo. As a long standing member of the United Methodist Church in Montevideo, she served on the Mission Committee, acted as church treasurer, taught Sunday school and was communion steward for 25 years. She, Bill and Pastor George Bell planted many of the trees around the church grounds, tending them and carrying buckets of water during several of the drought years. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing the piano, watercolor painting, listening to classical music, spending time in her flower and vegetable gardens, and preserving the produce. Quiet times were spent with her hand work and her love of nature, which included many hours of bird watching, hiking and travels to Kenya.
She was called from this life on Friday afternoon, August 14, 2009, while a patient at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital. She was 86 years old.
Cherishing her memory are her children: Barbara, Mary, William and Carrie; and her grandsons: Joel, Thomas, William, John, Benjamin, Charles and Christopher and her great granddaughter Elisabeth.
