  • Notes
    • Glenys Hanson It is with profound sadness that the family of Glenys Hanson announces her passing on July 10, 2014. Glenys was an extraordinary woman whose life was marked by love and kindness, deeply held values, and practical sense and resilience. She was a person of enormous compassion and empathy, with an uncompromising personal commitment to offering comfort, solace, or just a sympathetic ear to those she thought she could help, in large ways and small. Glenys graduated from the University of Regina, where she met and married Stanley Hanson, with whom she shared a lengthy, loving and devoted marriage. Together, they built a happy and rich life in Saskatoon for themselves and for their children, who in turn adored and cherished their parents, benefitting from their ever-present love, support and counsel. Glenys' commitment to her family, which was absolute, was complemented by a rich and fulfilling career, which saw her accept positions of increasingly large responsibility, reflecting her skills, talents and ceaseless desire to learn new things. Glenys was pre-deceased by her parents, Lawrence Fogg and Gwendolyn Hall (nee Davies) and by her loving husband of 36 years, Stanley. She is survived by her loving children and grandchildren: son Lawrence Hanson, daughter-in-law, Catherine Howlett, their children, Gwendolyn and William Hanson; her daughter, Melanie Hanson and son-in-law Douglas Patterson. James Scopick, her second husband, brought great love, joy and happiness to Glenys' life, and he is joined in his grief by his sons Anthony and Frederick, their spouses Karin and Leslee, his son Jaimin and by his grandson, Jesse. Glenys is also survived by her brother, Larry, his wife Lynda, their son Jonathan, his wife, Lynn, and their children, Hannah and Piper. The Lalonde family, Andre and Sandra, their daughter Megan, husband Michael and children Grace, Alex and Lauren, and Andre and Sandra's daughter Meika and her husband Jamie, were part of Glenys' family in all the ways that matter. Those wishing to send a message of condolence may send to First Memorial Funeral Services in Nanaimo, B.C. at Firstmemorialfuneral.com or on the legacy.com website. A celebration of Glenys' life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
