- Massena-Alonzo C Wood, 70 Carey Cross Road, died at 11:20 am Wednesday at his home, following a short illness.
The funeral will be at 11 am Saturday at the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gregory Gifford, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 7-9 pm today and 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday at the Donaldson Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the Massena Hospice.
Surviving are his wife, Arlene; three sons, Kenneth R, Charleston, SC, and Richard A and Jerry Paul, both of Massena; three daughters, Mrs. Gary(Martha)Bielak, Syracuse, Mrs. Cal(Mary)Caudill, Largo, Fla., and Shirley Ann Wood, Massena; 16 grandchildren; four sisters, Rachel Egolf, Roanoke, Va., Frances Murray, Waddington, Ida Manchester, Nashville, Tenn., and Eva Bouck, Potsdam and several nephews and nieces.
Born in Russell on May 22, 1920, a son of Henry and Alice Gorman Wood, he attended Russell and Colton schools. He married Arlene Steenberg on Feb. 15, 1946, at the United Methodist Church, Waddington.
Mr. Wood was employed with Alcoa as a tool repairman until his retirement in May 1982, after 40 years of service.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Alcoa 25 year club and the First Baptist Church.
