- Floyd Walter Price, 85, of Manahawkin, NJ, passed away April 14, 2012 after a brief Illness. Born in Syracuse, New York, Floyd attended North Syracuse schools. An Army veteran, Floyd served in World War II, in Germany. Floyd spent most of his career with Borden's Ice Cream division. Starting as mechanic, he became a plant operating engineer at several plants. Floyd went on to be a plant manager of one of their largest plants. Floyd holds a number of patents for the invention of Ice Cream sandwich manufacturing and collating machines. An avid hunter and fisherman in his youth, Floyd became an excellent gardener and chef after his retirement. His greatest love was his family.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 67 years, Alice Price of Manahawkin; and four children, Judith (John) of Hopewell, New York, Lorraine (Petr) Kuzma of Princeton, New Jersey, Edward (Marion) Price of Manahawkin, NJ, Michelle (Todd) Tuttle of Charlotte, North Carolina, along with their spouses; his grandchildren, Carl Alexander of Tracy, California, Alouette Alexander of Randolph, MA and Christopher Morgan of Charlotte, North Carolina; and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Macyn Meaney of Randoph, MA. Floyd worked hard to make every family event fun and special for his extended family and will be greatly missed by all. Hours after Floyd's death, his son Edward also passed away.
The family will receive relatives and friends for both Floyd and Edward Thursday April 19, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River, NJ. The funeral Mass will be offered 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at St. Mary of the Pine's Church, Manahawkin, NJ. Committal is private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Floyd's honor to the Wounded Warrior Project.
