- Marjorie E. Pennock, age 93 of Gladwin, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009 at MidMichigan Gladwin Pines after a brief illness.
She was born on Sept. 28, 1916 in Manton, the daughter of the late Edgar and Etta (Napier) Derbyshire. She graduated from Manton High School in 1934 and Michigan State College in 1939.
Marjorie married Paul Pennock on June 17, 1939 in Manton, and moved to Standish where she lived until they moved to Gladwin in 1960. She retired from teaching in the Beaverton Elementary Schools in 1976. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gladwin, was a past member of the Violet Chapter #78 in Standish, and a current member of White Clover Chapter #84 in Gladwin of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000; one grandson; two brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by her children, Paul Jr. (Judy) Pennock of Dunedin, Florida, Wayne (Sue) Pennock of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, Lynn (Bev) Pennock of Holt, and LeRoy (Donna) Pennock of Humble, Texas; brother, William Derbyshire of Aberdeen, Maryland; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Gladwin with Pastor David Snyder officiating and assisted by Father Mike Pennock, her grandson. Visitation was held on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009 at the Sisson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery.
