  • Notes
    • Anstine, Donald D. 60 06/09/1948 02/13/2009 Don was born in St. Edwards, Neb., and moved to Oregon when he was 2 years old. He graduated from Benson High School in 1966 and enlisted in the Navy in 1967, serving his country for four years. On April 13, 1968, he married his high school sweetheart, Georgene Atkins. In 1973, he was hired by Northwest Natural Gas where he worked for 35 years, retiring Dec. 31, 2008. Don is survived by his wife, Georgene Anstine; sons, Craig and Darren Anstine; daughter, Cary Werthessen; granddaughters, Jessica Werthessen and McKenzie Anstine; and his little dog, Sara. Don was a member of the Oregon City Elks and a volunteer for the Mount Hood Ski Patrol. He enjoyed skiing and helping others. In high school he played football, but he loved all sports. Don was involved in all his children's sporting events whether he was coaching, assisting or simply cheering them on. He also loved the outdoors and would take his family camping and boating every summer. His family and friends were his life. Don bought some land in Central Oregon and built his vacation cabin where he enjoyed spending many of his weekends and vacations. Known for his bowed legs and wearing his cowboy hat and boots, Don will be remembered for his laugh, love of country music and dancing. He touched many lives and was blessed to have so many friends. His family would like to thank everyone for all their love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Don will always be our cowboy and will be truly missed. A service has been held.
