Born September 28, 1954, in Baltimore, Steve was the son of Joseph F. Hughes of Catonsville, Md., and the late Lillian M. Hughes. He was previously married to Angela Atkins, with whom he had three children, until their divorce in 1992.
Steve graduated from the Cardinal Gibbons High School in 1972, from UMBC with a degree in Economics in 1976, and from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1983. He was a voracious reader, a critical thinker, as well as a masterful storyteller and humorist who enjoyed poker, golf, and attending Ravens' games. He also sang in a Beatles tribute band for 15 years. He was devoted to his children and grandchildren and gave freely of his time, support, and legal skills to family, friends, and those in need.
