Obituary & Death Notice |
 | Death of Henry McGee Death of Henry McGee
A correspondent at Drake, Sask. sends us the following account of the death of Mr. Henry McGee, formerly of Darling: "The sad death of Mr. Henry McGee, on Monday, April 13th, spread a gloom over our community. Death came suddenly in the form of primary apoplexy. Mr. McGee was well and hearty as usual till he passed quietly away. The immediate family - Mrs. McGee, Robert the eldest son with his wife, and the youngest son Clifford, were all present when the grim reaper entered the home. The funeral was conducted at the home, April 15th, by. Rev. Mr. Lent of Drake. Paul's beautiful promise was the text, 'Though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.' - II Cor. Favorite hymns loved in the life of Mr. McGee were selected for the service. Though death gave no warning the whole community expressed the sympathy by attending the home. The pallbearers were Messrs. Sidney Blair, Wm. Maines, F. Gibney, Timothy Blair, Robert McFarland, James Gibney. Interment was made in Drake cemetery. Mr. McGee came to Drake in 1911 with four sons. His genial and hearty welcome for all that visited his home, and his kindly disposition as a neighbour won for him a place in the hearts of the community we grieve to lose. Everyone that came to the hospitable home received a cheery welcome. He leaves a bereaved and devoted wife and seven children - Mrs. Patterson (Nellie), Carleton Place; Mrs. W. Wilson (Katie), Perth; Robert, a farmer of Drake, Sask.; Mrs. Majaary (Mary), Drake; Johnnie (deceased); James in Peace River; George of Drake; Clifford, the youngest. Four brothers survive him. Mr. McGee was a member of the Presbyterian church, and had attained the age 63 years and 7 months. Though we cannot question the mystery of death we feel that a devoted father and a kind neighbour is no more a cheery voice and a friendly face has vanished. God gives and God taketh away.
