 | Ellen Cougill Ellen A. Cougill 1922 - 2017
Ellen Adel Cougill passed away May 15, 2017. Her life touched so many, and she was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A private burial service was held at Rest Haven Mausoleum (celebration of life memorial service date and time to be announced later). Ellen was born October 11, 1922 in Cranbrook, British Columbia to Robert and Adel Jantz McGee, being one of three siblings. The family moved to Spokane, WA, where she was raised and where Ella (aka Gee Gee) graduated with Honors at John R. Rogers High School in 1941. She married J. Glenn Cougill on July 3, 1944 and enjoyed 63 years with her lifetime love.
Upon moving to Eugene, OR, she worked alongside Glenn in his real estate business, Cougill and Hansen Realtors, other business projects and developments. Some of the many organizations and clubs she belonged to were the Junior League, Eugene Country Club, National Secretary Association; University of Oregon, Rotary and Oregon Community Foundations. She did extensive traveling with Glenn over the years, was an avid bridge player, enjoyed cards, racquet ball, gardening and was a devoted walker. Ellen had a passion for knowledge and was a lifelong learner, much of which was through the U of O.
Ellen belonged to the Central Presbyterian Church, and served on various committees and projects. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters: Frieda Hester and Ethel Palmer, and one granddaughter, Katrina Weaver. Ellen is survived by a daughter, Laurie Weaver, a son, Paul Cougill and wife, Marla, four grandchildren: Jordan Bailey and wife, Sarah, Alaina Bailey, Jesse Weaver, Sean Weaver, and three great-grandchildren: Maya, Sawyer and Lennen Bailey.
