    Paul Richard Banning, 82, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009. He was born in Los Angeles on July 23, 1926, to Claude Francis and Mary Alice Banning. He was an electrical lineman.
    Paul was a beloved husband of 64 years, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was a member of Family Worship Center and Paul served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre.
    He is survived by his wife, Lucy Bell Banning of Victoria; daughter, Beverly Ann Burnett of Austin; sons, James P. Banning of Houston, Gary B. Banning of Inez and Richard D. Banning of Fredericksburg; two sisters, one brother, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
    Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. at Grace Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at 9 a.m. at Grace Funeral Home with the Rev. C.E. Smith officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Dilley Cemetery in Dilley.
    Pallbearers will be James P. Banning, Richard D. Banning, Gary B. Banning, Joshua Banning, Michael Banning and Gordon Burnett.

    REVEREND EARL J. BANNING went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 7, 2010. He was 80 years old.Born in California but reared on a cattle ranch in South Texas, he entered military service after high school, serving during the Korean War as a combat medic. After the war, he attended Southwestern Assemblies of God college where he married Joyce Fisher and became an ordained minister. Pastor Banning later earned bachelors and masters degrees in psychology, sociology, and counseling psychology in California. He and Joyce served faithfully in several churches before coming to Braeswood Assembly of God in 1970. The small church grew under Pastor Banning's leadership and became one of Houston's most prominent international congregations. He was the senior pastor at Braeswood Church for 30 years, and the Co-Pastor for 9 years and pastor emeritus for the past year. In addition, Pastor Banning served as General Presbyter of the Assemblies of God and Assistant Superintendent and Executive Presbyter for the South Texas District of the Assemblies of God. He was well known for his radio program, Life Worth Living, and he provided a late night devotional on KPRC-TV for many years. He was a visiting lecturer on Christian psychology and church growth in more than 25 countries, including Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa.Earl Banning now waits in heaven along with his wife Joyce for son Steve and his wife Donna, daughter Susan and her husband David, and daughter Lori and her husband John. Earl is also survived by two sisters, Martha and Ruby; his grandchildren James, Tiffany, John, Jessica and Donovan; and great grandchildren Kaleb, Angelina and Luke. In his more than 50 years of ministry, pastor and counseling psychologist Earl Banning preached thousands of sermons and touched many more lives. His flock will always remember him for his strength of conviction, his well-worn Bible, his sense of humor, the stories of life in South Texas and those powerful invitations delivered on behalf of the Savior. The last of 10 children, his mother called him a "tithe for the Lord." And so he was. On his pulpit for many years was a small sign viewable only to him and those facing the congregation. It read: "Sir, we would see Jesus." Through Earl Banning's life and example, that is what we saw. Welcome home, good and faithful servant.     Mae was born in Norman in Cleveland County in 1924 and was the youngest child with three brothers. Her family moved to California when Mae was 1 year old. When her grandmother passed away, Mae?s family inherited the family farm in Norman at the age of 8 and she became an Okie again.
    In 1942, Mae graduated from Macomb High School and continued her education, earning a bachelor?s degree at Central State Teacher?s College (now Central State University in Edmond).
    Mae married Carter Tacker Jr. in 1946 and moved to Pueblo, Colorado. They both were educators in public schools there. While in Colorado they adopted their first child, Tamara Kay in 1954. Oklahoma called them again, so Mae and her husband, Carter, moved back to Oklahoma. A new addition to the family came in 1954 when Mae and Carter adopted their second child, Jimmie. Mae has devoted her life to education. She has taught all grades from kindergarten through high school. For 12 years, Mae taught classes and served as principal at Faith Seven School in Shawnee. Mae is also an accomplished pianist and seamstress.
    In 1998, after her husband?s death, Mae married Dr. Bill Mitchell. They now reside in Shawnee.

    Hazel is survived by three daughters, Dee Oliver, Marie Oliver, and her husband, Daniel, and Mary Wallace, and her husband, Kevin, all of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Sam Porter, and his wife, Kathy, of Marshfield, Missouri, and Earl Porter, and his wife, Jeanne, of Conway, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
    She was born in Oklahoma and was raised in Oklahoma, Colorado and California before her family moved to Laclede County, Missouri, in the 1940?s. Hazel then attended Phillipsburg High School. After she and Murl were married, they made their home in Conway, Missouri, and lovingly raised their children. Through the years, Hazel was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.
    Hazel had attended Twilight Church, near Conway, Missouri.
    In her spare time she enjoyed quilting and doing embroidery projects. She received her greatest joy from being with her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
    Hazel was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.

    Alpha Mae found Bill Zahn in the Texan Cafe in Dilley, Texas, 1948. Sixty years of a happy marriage brought two children, Billy and Virginia, who still live next door to Bill and Alpha Mae.
    If we are to remember "Aunt Mae", we will remember her love to cook and her famous pecan pies and congo bars. Traveling in their motor home and earlier camping excursions filled the days with happiness. Mae ran a "tight ship" at home; being a frugal person, she cut hair, sewed, excellent housekeeper and repaired most anything in the house.
    We all loved Mae and mourn her loss. We can learn a lot from her selflessness. We know she's happy now.

    Charles William Ridge, 81, of Baytown, was born July 22, 1926, in Los Angeles, California to Reverend and Mrs. Isaac Ridge, the oldest of three sons. His Lord called him home early Tuesday morning, October 23, 2007 in Baytown.
    Dad was a member of Trinity Tabernacle Assembly of God in Baytown where he served as a deacon for 21 years. He faithfully supported the ministries of the church and was very involved. He loved his church and served whenever he could and wherever he was needed. His heart was tender towards the things of God and taught his children that prayer and serving our Lord was the most important thing in life.
    Dad proudly served his country in the Philippines and Japan during World War II. He retired from Solvay in LaPorte after 32 years.
    Dad led our family with dignity, integrity, and with all his love. He was a hard worker and taught this to his children. Dad was an honest and fair man and was proud of each of his children as they excelled individually. Always taking time to listen, he rejoiced with us in the good times and continually kept his family in his prayers. Dad shared a love for our mother that is rarely seen as together they set an example of what true love is. We are blessed to be called, ?his children.?
    Dad was proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved to see them visit. He considered them his heritage.
    We would like to say ?thank you? to his Tuesday morning Coffee Club members, R.W. Johnson and Charles Young for their constant fellowship and encouragement.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Isaac Ridge, and his youngest brother, Richard Ridge.
    He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of sixty years, Mary Ridge. His children Sheila Burns and her husband, Jimmy Earl, Sherry Lefler and her husband, David, Marilyn Starnes and her husband, Ray, Charles Russell (Rusty) Ridge and his wife, Deborah.
    His Grandchildren: John Britten Churchill and wife Cynda, Janci Burleson, Tish Silva and husband Ray, Brandi Jones and husband Rick, Jamie Irvin and husband Bobby, Jake Lefler, Anthony Starnes and wife Rachel, Autumn Starnes, Adam Starnes and wife Codie, Keli Armstrong and husband Jeremy, Kaelyn Ridge, Jennifer Henager and husband Chris.
    Great Grandchildren: Sterling Churchill, Madison Aubey, Colton Churchill, Justin Pagel, Rylen Morton, Seth Hamilton, Grace Hamilton, Caleb Starnes, Tyler Ridge and Aidyn Armstrong

    Many nieces and nephews and a host of friends also survive him.

    The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 25, 2007, at Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Baytown from 6:00-8:00 P.M.
    His celebration of life will be held at Trinity Tabernacle Assembly of God, 1008 East Lobit in Baytown at 10:00 A.M, Friday, October 26, 2007.

    Bobby Harland Banning, 79, of Dilley, TX passed away peacefully November 12, 2016.
    Bobby was born June 26, 1937 in Woodward, Texas. He was the third child of John L. Banning and Lennis Ridge Banning. Upon graduation from Dilley High School in 1955 he joined the US Navy and became a certified Navy Electrician at the age of 18 serving in the Pacific Theater on the USS Walker. He served in the US Navy for 8 years.
    Upon discharge, he returned to Dilley where he worked with his Father as a building contractor before joining South Texas Telephone which later became Valley Telephone Cooperative. He served Valley Telephone for 37 years eventually rising to the position of Manager of the North District.
    In 1959 Bobby married the love of his life, Vanetta Laster Banning. They were married 57 years upon his death. From this union they had two sons. John Earl Banning and Mark Steven Banning.
    Bobby was a member and board member of First Assembly of God in Dilley, Texas where he and Vanetta, served faithfully and provided a musical combination that blessed congregations for decades. Bobby was an exceptional guitarist, influenced by the likes of Chet Atkins, Merle Travis and Les Paul. His love of the guitar began at an early age and continued throughout his life. Even in his later years he studied new styles and approaches as he pushed his ability and love of music forward.
    Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Vanetta. John and Carrin Banning of Happy Jack, AZ. Mark and Gina Banning of Dilley, TX. The joys of his life, granddaughters Jessica Leigh Banning of San Marcos, TX; Carly Vanetta Banning and McKenna Lynn Banning of Happy Jack, AZ; Grandson Ryan Gray of Dilley, TX; Brother Raymond Banning of Conroe, TX; Sister Brenda Harland and husband Benny of Jourdanton, TX; and a large loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Ronald David Banning.
    Bobby loved life and always looked for the positive in everything. He was faithful and encouraging to all. He loved his family, friends and community.
    A celebration of Bobby?s life will be held at Lighthouse Church in Dilley, TX Saturday November 19, 2016 at 2:00pm. Internment to immediately follow at The Dilley Cemetery.
    There will be no visitation at the Hurley Funeral Home prior to service.
