    Lewis D. Banning, Sr., of Manchester, died Tuesday, (March 25, 2003) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of 57 years of Evelyn (Wutsch) Banning. Born in Hartford, son of the late Clinton and Hilda (Vujs) Banning, he was raised in Glastonbury and had resided in Manchester for over 51 years. He was a navy veteran of World War II and was awarded the Silver Star. Mr. Banning had worked for the Manchester Public School System for many years and retired from the communications dept of St. Francis Hospital. He had been an adult leader for the Boy Scouts of America in Troops 27 and 3 in Manchester. He was a member of the Manchester Church of the Nazarene and was active at the Windsor Hill Nazarene Family Camp & Retreat Center in Hillsboro, NH. Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Lewis Banning Jr. and his wife, Rosalyn of Southington; his daughters, Susan Baron of Greensboro, NC, Diane Bliss and her husband, Paul of Glastonbury, and Jane Bernier and her husband, Clifford of Brooklyn; and his daughter-in-law, Lori Banning-Smith and her husband, Stoner Smith of Ellington. He also leaves his grandchildren, Lewis D. Banning III, Andrew and Stacey Baton, Tyler and Amanda Bliss, Pamela and Valerie Banning and Jaime and Thomas Acquavella; his sister, Frances Ellsworth of Portland; and several nieces and nephews. A service of memory will be held in the Manchester Church of the Nazarene, 218 Main St., Manchester, Saturday, March 29, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Nazarene; or to Windsor Hills Nazerene Family Camp & Retreat Center, RR2, Box 157, Hillsboro, NH 03244. Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, South Windsor has care of the arrangements.

    imothy J. Banning, 46, of Ellington, died Friday, (December 15, 2000) at his home after a courageous battle with ALS. He was the husband of Lori (Tucker) Banning. Born in Manchester, son of Lewis and Evelyn (Wutsch) Banning, Sr. of Manchester, he was a graduate of Manchester High School, Class of '72, and of Bryant College, Class of '76. He had worked at Tyco International for 19 years. He was a member of the Ellington Community Scholarship Association. Besides his wife and parents, he leaves his daughters, Valerie and Pamela, both at home; his brother and sister-in-law, Lewis and Rosalyn Banning, Jr. of Acworth, GA; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and Michael Baron of Greensboro, NC, Diane and Paul Bliss of Glastonbury, and Jane and Clifford Bernier of South Windsor. He also leaves his nieces and nephews, Lewis Banning, III, Andrew and Stacey Baron, Tyler and Amanda Bliss, Jaime and Thomas Acquavella; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The Banning family thanks the many special coworkers, friends and neighbors who cared for Timothy and his family throughout his illness; and a special thanks to our friend, Dee Trinks. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m., at the Ladd-Turkington Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Rte. 83), Vernon, with the Rev. Raymond Grezel officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home, Wednesday, Dec. 20, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ellington Community Scholarship Assoc., P.O.
