    KEN VAN IDERSTINE of Moose Jaw passed away Saturday, November 27, 2004. Ken was born in 1924 in Moose Jaw, where he recieved his early education. After graduating from Central Collegiate, he began articling at a local accounting firm, which was interrupted by a three year stint in the Air Force. Following the war, he attended the University of Saskatchewan, graduating in May 1949 with a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm.) degree and he also obtained his Chartered Accountants designation (C.A.) in December 1949. In 1955, Ken started his own professional firm and was engaged in public practice until his retirement in 1989. Ken and Neta Smith were married in 1956. Family was very important to Ken. He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather and was always a source of strength and support. Ken especially enjoyed summers at the cabin at the lake and his favorite winter past-time was cheering for the Warriors. In later years, Ken and Neta traveled extensively, including the many winter trips to Mexico where they enjoyed family get-togethers. Ken was always keenly interested in his community and took an active part in many groups and organizations in Moose Jaw. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Church, Doric Lodge, Moose Jaw Shrine Club, Past President of the Shrine Military Band and past member of the Rotary Club. He also served on the boards of St. Anthony's, Ina Grafton, Y.M.C.A. and Air Cadet Squadron No. 40. He was elected as a member of Senate for the University of Saskatchewan for three terms for the Moose Jaw/Assiniboia area. in 1973, Ken was honoured as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (F.C.A.) in recognition of his service on the University Board of Examiners for Chartered Accountants. Predeceased by his parents, Bessie and George Van Iderstine, a brother, Alan and brother-in-law, Vernon King. Ken is survived by his loving wife, Neta, and three sons: Craig Calgary, Glenn (Jahzi) Airdrie, AB, Jeff Regina; and two grandsons: Carson and Cooper Airdrie, one sister, Joan King Winnipeg, as well as several nieces, nephews, and other family members. A Celebration of Ken's Life will be held at St. Andrew's United Church on Thursday, December 2, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. Linda Owens will officiate. Memorialization of cremated remains will take place privately at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to the Shriners Children's Travel Fund c/o Wa Wa Temple, 2065 Hamilton Street, Regina, SK S4P 2E1 would be appreciated. In living memory of Ken, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

    M. Joan King, a resident of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away April 4, 2019 at St. Boniface General Hospital.
    Joan was born and raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, leaving Moose Jaw to attend the University of Saskatchewan where she graduated with her Bachelor of Commerce in 1953. She married Vernon King in 1953 and moved shortly thereafter to Kenora, Ontario.
    She was predeceased by her husband Vernon King, parents George and Bessie Van Iderstine, her brothers Alan and Kenneth and brother in law Howard King.
    She is survived by her daughters Debby (Mario) and Barb King, granddaughters Cassandra (Kurtis) (great grandchildren Justin, & Scarlette) and Katarina, sister-in-law Neta Van Iderstine, nephews Craig, Glenn (Jahzi), Jeff (Darcia), great nephews Carson, Cooper and Adam.
    Joan had worked at BDO Dunwoody, was a member of the Kinettes and a leader of CGIT in Kenora and retired from Revenue Canada and was a member of PEO in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
