    BANNING, Victor On October 16, 2008 at the age of 63, with the support of his wife and best buddy Judy (Macartney). Beyond his varied career accomplishments, Vic was an avid traveler. He seized the opportunity to work in the Philippines and Malaysia for 10 years. An outdoor sports enthusiast, Vic enjoyed, along with Judy, bicycling in Europe and various parts of North America, scuba diving around the world, cross-country skiing where he qualified for two Coureur des Bois gold medals in the Canadian Ski Marathon, and marathon running (including Boston and New York). The son of the late Leo and Helen (Paolini) Banning of Timmins, and brother of Patrick Banning (Christine) of Ottawa and the late Maureen Hendriks (the late Len). Survived by brother-in-law Ralph Macartney of Guelph; sisters-in-law Joan Macartney (John Aubin) and Nancy Macartney (Dave Hay) of Ottawa, and Maureen Macartney (Brian Thomas) of Bancroft. Uncle to Michelle Banning Thompson (Tom), Gregory Banning, John Hendriks (Mary), David Hendriks (Chantal), Carole Hendriks Groves (Darren), Brian Macartney (Kathy), Stephen Macartney (Carrie), Joanne James (Greg), and William Grierson. Grand uncle to Michael, Connor, Carsyn, Cole, Zachary, and Carter. Friends and relatives are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21. Those wishing, may make a memorial donation to the Canadian Ski Marathon or the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, and/or plant a tree to support our planet.
