Clifford Doyle "Dude" Goodson, 89, passed away on May 17, 2015 in Harrah, OK. Clifford was born in Paris, TX on August 11, 1925 to Robert Henry and Madeline (Harris) Goodson.
He told of remembering coming to Oklahoma in a covered wagon where his family settled in Valliant, OK. He married Oneida Lois (Roden) Goodson, and they shared 64 years together until her death in September of 2010. He served in the United States Navy during World War II from 4/2/1944 to 5/24/1946. He always said the enemy found out he was out there and gave up. His nickname was "Dude" and was also very witty and had a dry sense of humor. He moved his family from Valliant, OK to Oklahoma City around 1952 where he went to work at Tinker Air Force Base and retired disability in 1977. Clifford loved raising organic vegetables in his garden and would raise everything from different types of corn to Jerusalem artichokes. When he was younger he like to hunt and fish, but due to his back problems this limited his activities. In his spare time you could find him watching old westerns like Gunsmoke and performing magic tricks with matches and coins for his grandchildren.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Oneida Lois Goodson; siblings, Vivian Lorene Beene, Mildred "Penny" Stafford and Floyd "Buddy" Goodson. Survivors include his siblings, Myrlene "Myrle" Sagan and Geraldine "Micky" Bass; children, Ronnie Goodson, Phyllis Brandon and husband, Johnny; grandchildren, Denae Herbert, Tiffany Herbert and husband, Kenny Ruhman; step-grandchildren, Lezlie Pennington, Amy Moore and husband, Charles, Brad and Miranda Brandon; great-grandchildren, Slater and Indy Ruhman; step-great-grandchildren, Brandon George, Braden, Miko and Hannah Brandon, Bryce and Brenton Byford, Cassidy and Ryan Pennington, Kenley and Kallin Moore; he was also blessed with a brother-in-law, Harold Roden; and wife, Wanda; and many loving nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2015 in the Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park in Norman, OK.
