Elizabeth Geheber

Elizabeth Farnsworth Geheber of Baton Rouge passed away on April 26, after a short illness. She was born in 1924 in Huntington, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Farnsworth; brother Ted Farnsworth of Stoner Lake, NY; and her husband, Dean W. Geheber of Baton Rouge. She is survived by one brother, Clarkson Farnsworth, of Scotia, NY; daughter Carol Allen (David) of Kennesaw, GA; sons Fred Geheber (Karen) of Atlanta, GA, and Philip Geheber (Leah) of Baton Rouge; grandchildren Chrissy Copeland (Aaron) of Canton, GA; Keel Geheber and Laurin Geheber of Baton Rouge; Ellen Davis (Warner) of Playa del Rey, CA; Aaron Geheber of Warrensburg, MO; Scott Allen of Chattanooga, TN; and Eric Geheber (Carolyn) of Atlanta, GA. Step-grandchildren include Stephanie Bucksner (Joe) of Wilmington, DE; Bud Boland (Tassie) of Atlanta, GA; and Gil Boland of Chicago, IL. Great-grandchildren include Robyn Copeland; Grayson and Cayden Bucksner; Brooks and Weston Boland, and Flora Davis. Mrs. Geheber graduated from Emory University School of Nursing in Atlanta, GA. She served as a navy nurse during World War II. She was an active member of the Junior League of Baton Rouge, the Philharmonic Club, and the Louisiana Sinfonietta. She was a violinist with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra and also played in the Baton Rouge String Trio. A lifelong volunteer with the American Red Cross, she taught disaster nursing and worked in shelters during hurricane evacuations. Her happiest times were spent at the family camp on the Tickfaw River; she loved to fish or just sit on the porch. Funeral arrangements are being made by Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street (www.rabenhorst.com). The service is scheduled for Monday, May 1, at noon, with viewing beginning at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra.
