Wilmer Watt

Wilmer John Earl Watt died Feb 9 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital at the result of heart failure. He was 60. He was born March 28, 1932, in Lanark Township to the late James Hugh Watt and Florence Munro. Wilmer attended the Galbraith Elementary School and as an adult he enrolled in the BTSD program and ultimately obtained his high school equivalency diploma. A carpenter by trade, he will be remembered by his employers and fellow workers for his sunny disposition and good sense of humour. On Sept 7, 1962, he was united in marriage with Joyce Smith at the Almonte United Church by the Rev Francois Gerard. Wilmer spent his entire life in and around Almonte. He is survived by his wife Joyce, brothers Erwin of Almonte, Russell of Ottawa, sisters Hazel Fulton, Pakenham, Valma Bolger and Jean More, R.R. 1 Almonte, Gladys Currie of Almonte and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Len, formerly of Pakenham. The funeral took place at the C.R. Gamble Funeral Home, Feb 12 at 2 p.m. in the chapel. A touching service was conducted by the Rev Ted Colwell. The pallbearers were six nephews: John Fulton, Brian Bolger, Steve Currie, Allan Watt, Brent Watt and Jason Watt. Interment will be made in the spring at the Auld Kirk Cemetery.
