Peacefully at home, on Friday, April 4, 2014, surrounded by her family, in her 70th year. Irene (Purdon) was predeceased by her husband James Bernard ?Jim? Young (1943-2007). She was the beloved mother of Carol (Dean Tofflemire) of Trout Creek, Bernadette of Wasaga Beach and Wayne (Lorraine) of Bradford. Grandma will be lovingly remembered by Charlie, Eddie, Michaella and Brett. Irene was the dear sister of Trudy (Tom McCauliffe) of Sudbury, the late Diane (Harvey Piper of Callander), David (Maryanne Purdon) of Mississauga and Paula (Bruce Graham) of Toronto. He was the much-loved father of Gordon Grawbarger (Mary) of North Bay, Ron Grawbarger (Margo) of Sault Ste. Marie and Judy Muratore (Rocco) of North Bay; Grandfather of five; Great-grandfather of 11; Great-great-grandfather of six. Iriton is survived by his siblings-in-law Audrey Hughes (late Doug), Donna Hughes (late Elmer), Cora Nickelchok (late Al), Roy Hughes (Barb) and Vic Nucara (late Edna). He was predeceased by his sister Doris South (late Bill) and sister-in-law Vera Keith (late Bill). Iriton was a retired, long-time employee of Dupont where he worked as a millwright. The Grawbarger family will receive visitors on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan. It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Isobel McGill at Rideaucrest Home in Kingston Ontario. Isobel was born in Carleton Place but lived in Almonte for most of her life. She was what can best be described as “the salt of the earth”. Isobel is predeceased by her husband Russell McGill and her daughter Lynda Krueger (McGill). She will be truly missed by her son Carl, and his partner Laurie Crawford. She will also be missed by her daughter Brenda Balkwill (McGill). Dearly loved grandmother of Maryn McGill, Kelsey Moor (McGill) (Jeff Moor), Connor McGill, Lance Krueger (Megan Krueger), Brooke Krueger, Tavis and Josh Balkwill. Great grandmother to Paisley and Knox Moor and Marshal and Russell Kreuger. A Graveside Ceremony will be conducted at the Auld Kirk Cemetery on May 25, 2019 at 12pm with a Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date.

Canon B. G. Gosse conducted the funeral service Monday for a man who was very active in the Loyal Orange Lodge, Ivery A. Turcott of 868 High St. Mr. Churchill was a painter and cabinet maker and he died Friday at the age of 60. He had resided in North Bay and Sturgeon Falls since 1915.
The service was at St. Brice's Church and interment followed at St. John's Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Elston, Everett Bain, Haig Clark, George Clark Jr., Tony Veltri and Ellis Turcott.

MAYERTHORPE - Funeral services were held in St. Agnes' Roman Catholic Church, Mayerthorpe, Feb. 26 for Joseph Dierkhising, 21, of Ardmore who was fatally injured in a railway crossing accident on Feb. 19. He died in Edmonton's University Hospital Feb. 20.
He had been a resident of the Mayerthorpe district until last year when he moved to the Bonnyville district.
Father Terry of Whitecourt and Father Prefontaine of Mayerthorpe conducted the service. Interment was in Mayerthorpe Cemetery.
Pallbearers were his cousins: Darryl Dierkhising, Henry, Frank, William and Leonard Starman and brother-in-law, Daryl Barth.
He leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife Beverly and two daughters Cora Anne, one year old, and Donna Marie born Feb. 25; his mother Mrs. Kathleen Dierkhising; one brother, Danny of Ardmore and one sister Elaine, Mrs. Paul Collins of Fort Kent.

 | J. Glenn Cougill Amemorial service was held for J. Glenn Cougill, August 1st at Central Presbyterian Church. Glenn passed away July 25, 2007. A private burial service was held at Rest Haven Mausoleum with an Army Color Guard. Glenn was born September 21, 1918 in Conrad, Montana to James and Ida MacKenzie Cougill. The family moved to Eugene, OR when Glenn was 15 where he graduated from Eugene High School. He joined the Army in June 1941, after completing his junior year at the U of O, graduating in 1951 with a B.S. degree. He served in the Army from 1941 until January 1946, spending 15 months in the Aleutian Islands then at Fort Jackson, SC before embarking for Europe in 1944. He married Ellen McGee in Spokane, WA on July 3, 1944. He fought in the European Theater in France, Belgium, and Germany, ending at the border of Czechoslovakia on VE Day in 1945. During the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium, he was awarded the Silver Star and three Bronze Stars. He was cited for his military action in a book, "The Little Known Front," written by Eric Urbain of Bras, Belgium which covers 3 weeks of fierce fighting in Urbain's home area. Glenn often attributed his survival to things he learned as a Boy Scout and Scouting Leader. Glenn and Ellen visited the Urbains in 2000.
Upon returning to Eugene, he joined his father in the real estate business and worked as a realtor for 55 years. In 1958 he and Howard Hansen merged their offices and became Cougill and Hansen Realtors. Joe E. Lewis joined the firm as a full partner in 1975 after many years as a salesman. The firm is still in business under the umbrella of John L. Scott, Inc.
During his business career he was a member of the Eugene Realtor Association, serving as president and numerous other positions, including Director for the State. Glenn was instrumental in the formation of the Eugene Multiple Listing Association, serving as its president and a director for several years. He was awarded the prestigious Realtor of the Year designation. Continuing as a community leader Glenn served as Chair of the Room Tax Committee for the City of Eugene/Hult Center and for 25 years helped guide Cascade Manor into the fine institution it is today. He also belonged to Rotary, Eugene Country Club, Al Kader Shrine, Masonic Lodge, Oregon Community Foundation, Board of Directors of Home Federal Savings and Loan, Elks, and the Eugene Executives Association.
Various business projects included the development and ownership of Garden Valley Shopping Center in Roseburg for 25 years, Drive 'n Save Markets in Eugene, Roseburg and Cottage Grove and many housing developments in the Ferry Street Bridge area. After retiring from the office, he built Summerfield Estates, a 115-lot retirement home development.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed golf, cards, gardening and did extensive traveling with Ellen over the years.
Glenn belonged to the Central Presbyterian Church for 73 years, was a Deacon and served on various committees and projects. Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Laurie Weaver of Cottage Grove, a son, Paul and wife, Marla, of San Diego, five grandchildren: Alaina Bailey of Hillsboro, Jordan Bailey of Stayton, Jesse Weaver of Eugene and Sean and Katrina Weaver of Cottage Grove, and one great-granddaughter, Maya Bailey of Stayton.
Remembrances in his name may be made to Central Presbyterian Church Foundation, Volunteers in Medicine or any charity of your choice.

Peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2015 in his 95th year, with family by his side. Roy is survived by Eleanor, his beloved wife of 66 years, as well as his sisters Doris (Mel Lavergne), and Valda (Jack McLean). Roy is survived by his children Jim (Krystyna). David (Gwen) and Elizabeth (Gary Gosson). Cherished grandfather to David Gosson (Sarah), Karen Gibson, Melissa (James Gardner), Angela Gibson, Kimberly Gibson, Matthew Gosson (Jennifer), Jessica Gibson. Beloved great-grandfather to 5 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents. Harry and Emma (Beaton): son George; siblings, Bertha (late Don Brady), Gordon (Jean) and Donald (late Helen). Roy grew up in Old Ottawa East and served in the RCAF during WWII. He was an electrician, who put down the tools for a fulfilling career in the growing National Research Council. He and Eleanor raised their family while leading a busy life, including numerous business ventures; a motel, 2 hardware stores. investment properties, also and he built several houses. At one point he earned his pilot's licence, but soon moved on to his next project. Roy and Eleanor had a home in Florida where they enjoyed 30 years of winters and a cottage for all those summers. As well they took numerous cruises and seemed to find retirement was a wonderful thing. Roy was a past-master of Chaudiere Masonic Lodge #264 GRC (Ont), and a member of the Royal Arch, Scottish Rite, and Tunis Temple Shrine. His support of Shriner Hospitals was of particular importance. Roy was a member of Hawthorne United Church for 60 years, and he counted his Christian beliefs to be the bedrock for a blessed life. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O'Connor) on Thursday, January 22, 2015, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., with a Masonic Service in the Chapel at 7 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 10 a.m. The family are very appreciative of the compassion and care received from Dr. Iny and the Palisades Seniors Residence. POWASSAN (Staff) - The death, of Joseph Harvey Fryer of 380 Angus Ave., North Bay, occured at Smiths Falls Saturday. The 16-year-old youth had been an invalid all his life.
Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Powassan by Rev. D. L. Woodward. Interment will place at the Powassan Union Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the Paul Funeral Home.
Born at North Bay, May 16, 1948, Joseph Harvey Fryer was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Fryer of Angus Ave. The family lived at Powassan and Callander before taking up residence at North Bay 14 years ago.
His parents survive, two brothers, Gerald and Billy, and three sisters, Lois, Sherry and Rose-Mary, all at home. He is also survived by his grandfather, William Fryer of Powassan.

 | Jack Hubbs ROY DELBERT HUBBS TWEED - Roy Delbert (Jack) Hubbs passed away at Kingston General Hospital. He had been in failing health for some time.
He resided at Bloomfield, RR 1. His wife, the former Elizabeth McGee, died some time ago. Left to mourn his passing are two daughters, Nancy and Carolyn, and young son, Billie.
He is survived as well by five sisters, (Violet) Mrs. Charles Ainsworth, Grafton; (Maud) Mrs. Edward Carson, Wellington, RR 1; (Marguerite) Mrs. William Yandt, Wellington; (Madelene) Mrs. Merton Christie, Bloomfield, RR 1 and (Gladys) Mrs. Arthur Guernsey, Cherry, Valley; also five brothers, Albert and Gerald, of Brockville; Earl of Toronto, Curtis of Brantford and Charles, with the RCAF, France. A brother Harry died a few years ago.
The funeral was held Friday, July 29 in the afternoon from Gordon Whattam's Funeral Home, Picton. The Rev. R. Spurrell of Bloomfield officiated, and also at the graveside in Glenwood Cemetery.

Survived by his sister Helen Anderson, brother-in-laws of Wayne (Michelle) Cook and Harold Cook and many nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Arnold A. Mathews on Wednesday afternoon for Jacob Duncan Stanley Leroy, of Callander, who died in St. Joseph's Hospital on Sunday after a German souvenir gun he was handling went off, causing fatal injuries.
The service was conducted at the home of his mother, Mrs. Eliza Leroy of Callander. Pallbearers were Edward Byers, Freddie Ayers, Ray Daniher, Willis, Harvey and Herb Knapp. Interment took place at the Callander cemetery.
Born in Callander 28 years ago, Jacob Leroy enlisted in the Canadian Army shortly after the outbreak of war and served in the armed forces for five and one half years.
Unmarried, he was predeceased by his father, Simon Leroy, and a brother, who was killed in action overseas. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Eliza Leroy of Callander; two brothers, Harvey Leroy of Sudbury and Rodie Leroy of Callander; and four sisters, Mrs. Jack Allard, Ferris, Mrs. Ed Ranger, Toronto, Mrs. Art Hopson, Bayfield and Miss Cora Leroy of Toronto.

Mr. Sittler was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, St. Jacobs member of the St. Jacobs Lions Club.
Dear husband of Frances Sittler of St. Jacobs and was predeceased by his first wife, the former Lydia Spencer. Loving father of Charles and his wife Lillian of Kitchener, Joy and her husband Mahlon Snyder, Clementine and her husband Elmer Hill, all of St. Jacobs, Annie Sittler of Winnipeg, Ruby husband Allan Madgett of Trenton, Joan and her husband Don Blum of Kitchener, Esther Temple of Kitchener, Laurel and her husband Martin of Chepstow, Orvil Hasenpflug and his wife Mary of Petersburg, Edward Hasenpflug and his wife Kathy of Kitchener. Also survived by daughters Doris Sittler of St. Jacobs and Meryl Sittler of Winnipeg: sister-in-law, Ruby Sittler of St. Jacobs; 36 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren: 20 step-grandchildren and 29 step-great-grandchildren. Will be remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by sons, Ken, Joe, Tom and John; daughters, Mary and Lorraine; brothers, John and Andrew: sisters, Marion and Catherine.
Mr. Sitter's family will receive friends at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon on Wednesday, Transfer will be made to St. James Lutheran Church, St. Jacobs for funeral service at 2 p.m., Rev. Everett Mossman officiating. Interment to follow in Calvary United Cemetery.
